Haydos Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I do not understand why some people leave their foil lid flapping about once they've opened the butter. I'm a foil in the bin guy, how about you?
Jaspa Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Something in your head tells you to keep it on and covering most of it because in your head you think its been keeping it fresh, so you should carry on using it to keep it fresher. Its all sub-concious really of course Edit : Why did I answer this seriously, I bet this has just been made to see If we'd argue about anything
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Bin. No need to keep it. If you're basting a tin before baking, use your fingers and wash your hands. Otherwise it's like having to take off 2 lids every time you want to use the butter, and if you put the foil down anywhere you get grease on the worktops. Personally, I'm proper old-school in this regard. I have a cast-iron butter dish (that's right. Cast iron) which keeps proper butter soft enough to spread. Also frees up a minute amount of fridge space.
MooseBreath Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I leave mine on without thinking about it until there's probably only a third of the butter left at which point i'll remove the foil completely. It doesn't "flap about" though. I fold that shit back neatly.
Darkon84 Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I wanted to make a butter joke, but there's too much of a margarine for error.
Webbo Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I wanted to make a butter joke, but there's too much of a margarine for error. Try not to spread that around.
Buzzell Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Take it off. Recently noticed though that the missis leaves it on. I'm going to have to nip that shit in the bud.
Brainy Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 For some reason lately i've stuck it to the back of the lid
Guest Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Why would it flap about if it has a lid over the top? I use real butter, so don't have the problem.
whoareyaaa Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I understand your pain Haydos. no need for it get it the ****ing bin
Wycombe Fox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Don't throw them away. Collect them and then on Christmas Eve, stick them all together to cover your Christmas turkey before popping into the oven on gas mark 4 for 25 minutes per kg plus 25 minutes at the end. Alternatively, try making your own post-London Marathon heat retention cape. Stand out from the crowd with a gold one. More great money-saving ideas. I thank you.
Wycombe Fox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I wanted to make a butter joke, but there's too much of a margarine for error. When my Grandad was ill we spread butter on his back. He went downhill fast from that point on.
Guest Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 yeuch, now I see the question is about a sandwich spread and not as the misleading title infers - butter/marge. How can you eat a sandwich spread from a foil lidded pot? Do you shop at Lidl? Eat fresh young man otherwise you may have problems with your back.

lavrentis Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Depends if my housemates butter is on. I will have the opposite of his. Just so I know which is mine and also just to see if he has been using mine. I'm a bad housemate to live with, admittedly.
Fox92 Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Sometimes I do leave it on, but more than likely, bin it.
sphericalfox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Take that shit off, it's just helping some halfwit pollute the container with crumbs/marmite/jam or some other unnecessary filth off their knife.
lavrentis Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 The worst thing is when people use the butter after they have been spreading it on toast and it leaves bits of bread. That and jam.
Wycombe Fox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I enjoy pulling it off so the latter. Is that too much information??
