Larry_LCFC Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 You would have to pay me just to step foot in Skegness. Sticky pavements, screaming kids and a shit load of chavs. A bit of sunshine and it turns into one big council estate by the sea.

Webbo Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 Nothing wrong with Skeg. The wife's got an auntie who lives there so we usually stop with them.
Bettsj2 Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 If you can gaurantee the Grumbleweeds will be playing the Pavillion, i'll book immediately.

Guest Col city fan Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Can't beat Skeg! The Missis mum has a van in Ingoldmells.. Lovely jubbly! Nice cheap little weekends, stuff to do and 30 secs from the beach.
absolutelegend Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Am I a snob / bad person for thinking that there isn't enough money in the world to make me go on holiday there?
Deucalion Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Anyone who cannot enjoy the tat shops, penny arcades and cosmopolitan throng of the crowd in Skegness has an important part of their soul missing.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Am I a snob / bad person for thinking that there isn't enough money in the world to make me go on holiday there? Not at all. Every few years I seem to end up there on a day trip with different groups of people and each time I've been it's just been a massive disappointing shithole. Chavs, sticky penny arcades, tat shops, rubbish beachfront... Spend 20 minutes extra in the car and go to Well-next-the-Sea instead. Nice people, nice long beach, nice pubs, crab-fishing, cracking chip shop, cockle stand - the Albatross pub-ship is brilliant and they do great pancake lunches too. It's handy that the beach front is about a mile's walk from the town so you don't get the litter and can't hear any traffic if you want to relax. I love Wells. They sometimes have concerts on the park and it seems the whole town turns up, last year I went and they had barbeques and all-sorts kicking off, great day out
Rincewind Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Parents lived at Trusthorpe for a year or two early 80's. Step dad worked at the holiday camp there. It was when I first left home. I could go with them or stay in Leicester. I chose Leicester.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Am I a snob / bad person for thinking that there isn't enough money in the world to make me go on holiday there? IMO yes.... I take Skeg for what it is.. A cheap, easy to get to weekend away with a few beers, a bag of chips on the Prom and general tat in the shops. I don't make it my main annual holiday of course not.. Just an easy place to getaway to..

A friend used to have a static caravan there (sadly it had to be moved cos it was too old for the site (now that's snobby!)), but yeah, lovely place! There are few finer things than a pint on the Albatross on a sunny day!
scottthefox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 You know what, you can all fvck off. Who are you to judge? You're probably all from shitholes such as Loughborough and think you have a divine right to slag off someone's hometown, pretentious arseholes.
Wymsey Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I went there once. I thought I was in the slums. Wanted to go back after 30 minutes.
