Guest Col city fan Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I SO hope that Liverpool (including that diving pussy Suarez) beat Chelsea today. The football they've played is a joy to behold and Rogers has got to get manager of the season. Playing Stevie G in that deeper role has been a master-stroke and the three attacking players (all can play as strikers) has been so effective. Come on you Reds... put whining fookin Mourinho in his place.
FoxyCool86 Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Rodgers was a class appointment for Liverpool, they'll do well under him. United annihilating Norwich was hardly surprising given it was Giggs' first game in charge and the fact that the Canaries have a core of championship players. Expect Sunderland to win today :-)
katieakita Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Nice to see cardiff's away kit, do they sell more home or away kits
Fox92 Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 "He got that from his Liverpool days with Charlie Adam" - Gary Monk on Shelvey's goal. Yeah alright Gary, not Gerrard or Suarez... He's an idiot. "He's been around along time, Shelvey, played for some big clubs"... What Liverpool and Charlton? Sad acts Still 100000x better than Chelsea fans.
Libertine Dream Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Sunderland have found a goalscorer at just the right time
Aus Fox Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 See you don't have to go down to win a penalty. Nice refereeing.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I dislike Solskjaer already. He comes across as a right cocky little shit.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 See you don't have to go down to win a penalty. Nice refereeing. Yep, the pull back undeniably affected his goalscoring chance. Not quite sure why Provan (who, I think it needs reiterating, has no qualifications for being a pundit on English football matches) is talking about it being outside the box, the contact clearly carried on inside and I'm pretty sure he's well within his rights to give a penalty that being the case. Besides, it could have been given for the goalkeeper clearly obstructing Wickham when he'd gone past him.
AKCJ Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 See you don't have to go down to win a penalty. Nice refereeing. Nor do you have to be in the penalty area.
NewburyFox Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Dowd got it spot on for me. Wickham would've had a fair simpler chance if he hadn't been pulled back, and the contact continued into the box so I can see the justification for it being a penalty. It's good to see Wickham finally hit some form in the Premiership.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Nor do you have to be in the penalty area. Are you saying he wasn't being pulled back in the penalty area? Cos you'd be wrong.
AKCJ Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Are you saying he wasn't being pulled back in the penalty area? Cos you'd be wrong. He was being pulled back at the start of the D. He's miles out of the area, it's never a penalty.
davieG Posted 27 April 2014 Author Posted 27 April 2014 He was being pulled back at the start of the D. He's miles out of the area, it's never a penalty. I would say that's the advantage of not going down, The ref could well have played advantage as it looked like wickham had evaded / overcome the initial foul but the guy carried on fouling into the penalty area.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 He was being pulled back at the start of the D. He's miles out of the area, it's never a penalty. He was also being pulled back in the box. Also he is clearly obstructed by the keeper after going round him. They should think themselves lucky, they could be down to 10 and without their keeper who's probably their best player.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Lucky there as well, no attempt to play the ball and just barges Johnson over.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 And again. If the referee hadn't given that penalty he'd have been off.
Bert Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 The rules state if you are pulled outside the box and continue to be pulled inside the box then you award a penalty.
AKCJ Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 He was also being pulled back in the box. Also he is clearly obstructed by the keeper after going round him. They should think themselves lucky, they could be down to 10 and without their keeper who's probably their best player. If the penalty was given for Marshall on Wickham then that's obviously in the box but very, very soft. He was being pulled from outside of the box, that's obviously where the obstruction started so it should be freekick. To be honest, Dowd handled it very poorly. If he's giving a penalty then why is he playing advantage? Imagine if Wickham rounded the keeper but Cala blocked it off the line. What does he do then? IMO he's one of the worst referees we have, he's very arrogant.
Aus Fox Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 To be honest, Dowd handled it very poorly. If he's giving a penalty then why is he playing advantage? I think it's called using common sense, I know it's rare in referees, but more decisions like this will encourage players to stay on their feet where they can. The pull back clearly affected his chance of scoring.
Jimothy Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Chelsea team to play Liverpool. Schwarzer Azpilicueta Ivanovic Kalas Cole Mikel Matic Schurrle Lampard Salah Ba Surely he could have named a few regulars. Cahill? Eto'o, etc. I think he just named that team to make a point.
StanSP Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I heard Stan Collymore on TalkSport saying that there should be a rule where if a player gets tackled in the area, stays up, manages to get a shot away but still misses, then the referee should be allowed to go back and award the penalty lol. What the hell?! That's not playing 1 advantage, that's a double advantage! The team attacking gets 2 bites at the cherry.
