Stadt Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 I understand that it's part of the game but you can't just sweep that under the carpet because everybody else does it, I very much doubt Suarez was in agony and then he was immediately fine - he was implying he was seriously injured
Bert Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 The funny thing is Suarez didn't dive, Fer did take him out, hence the Referee playing advantage. The thing you don't like is how he went down and got back up, fair enough, I agree I didn't like it either but stop saying he dived, clearly wasn't. Don't think there was an issue about whether he's dived or not. I'm sure I don't need to explain it to you what everyone was so incensed about, as you've already accepted what the reasoning behind it was.
Grandad. Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Let's bring some humor to this thread anyway, people go back through the thread and re-read Hugo Sanchez's best posts about Arsenal winning the League and how good they are.. Priceless.
Finnegan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 To be fair to Hugo, he was right about one thing - Ramsey is world class. Gets injured, Arsenal's amazing season blows up. Coincidence? Narh.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 They wouldn't win the league with a completely fit squad. They are losers and bottlers.
Dan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 I couldn't give a shit if it happens more often. There's no way I'm ever accepting it as a part of the game. Ever. Not claiming there's anything I can do but there's no way you'll ever hear me defending diving.
Dan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 I cannot name an argument against punishing players for diving, no. I am in agreement with you again but what I meant by saving 'have' is he fact that referees do not give penalties if a player stays on his feet instead of going down. Referees, or the FA, don't punish these players who dive. So in a way, there's no other option but to dive. I think so anyway. Using Jarvis as the example still, he is honest and fair play to him for that. So he is fouled by Sagna, and it is a foul, anywhere on the pitch and that's a free kick. What does Jarvis do? Stays on his feet. What happens? The ball eventually goes out of play. On the other hand, if Jarvis decides to dive (or not dive because it was a foul) then he gets a deserved penalty for West Ham. It could change the game. I'd love to see a game where the referee gives the penalty correctly. But it doesn't work like that and we've seen before that players are not rewarded for staying on their feet. In a way, they do get rewarded. They get a 'well done Matt Jarvis' (or whoever it is) but that's it. They go home and think that should have been a penalty, just like us fans do. Which is why players have to go down in reality, to win the deserved penalty. I know for a fact that if we're winning or drawing at Arsenal (or anywhere) next season, and one of our players gets a knock from Sagna or any opposition player then I shout 'go down' not 'stay on your feet we might score but it's not as likely as if we'd have a penalty'. It's how football is these days. Which is why for me the problem is more with the FA and their lack of action on the matter, and referees for constantly buying reactions. It's hard for them as you're one man with three assistants against 22 - the majority of whom will bend the rules in some way shape or form. It's just terrible how Jarvis came in for criticism for what he didn't do. Has it really come to this? People are targetting the wrong person here. Diving has become an accepted part of the game - it isn't irreversible (sp?) and I'm amazed that people have almost given up on it.
MC Prussian Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 Ramires accepts his punishment issued by the FA for his involvement in a tussle at Sunderland and will be out for the rest of the season: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27151054
AKCJ Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 I said earlier in the thread it wasn't nice to see but I mean this when I say this as well, any player would of done the same and if anyone says they wouldn't have then they are a liar. Suarez was clearly fouled, went down (theatrically, I know) and then got up because we were on the attack. Only a Liverpool fan could let something like that slide. If Van Persie did it you'd be furious and you know it damn well.
Grandad. Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 Only a Liverpool fan could let something like that slide. If Van Persie did it you'd be furious and you know it damn well. I suggest you re-read my previous comments where I clearly said I did NOT agree with what Suarez did.
AjcW Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Wait until you see Jonjo Shelveys goal tonight https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=472595966219274&set=vb.338233632988842&type=3&video_source=pages_video_set
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Looking at that United line up, several changes and I think that is the team I would put out after the shambles against Everton...
RowlattsFox Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Anyone else hoping giggs makes a pigs ear of this? Grown to dislike him over the last couple of years.
Unabomber Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Anyone else hoping giggs makes a pigs ear of this? Grown to dislike him over the last couple of years. Yeah people seem to forget that he shagged his brothers wife.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Yeah people seem to forget that he shagged his brothers wife. That is the one disgraceful moment in his whole career. He is rarely in the papers for the wrong reasons...
Unabomber Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 That is the one disgraceful moment in his whole career. He is rarely in the papers for the wrong reasons... Yeah but that one time is pretty bad.
Super_horns Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Villa will be the glad the season isn't a week or two longer! Wonderful strike by Shelvey
Guest ttfn Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 I feel like I must be missing something with Cleverley. I look at him and I see a decent Championship player, perhaps at a stretch a bottom-end Premier League player. But he has been given numerous opportunities by Ferguson, Moyes, Hodgson and now Giggs, all of whom I have great respect for.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Yeah but that one time is pretty bad.Indeed, if it was anyone's with but his brothers you could kind if understand. So I know it is bad and almost unforgivable but for a player that was at the pinnacle of arguably the best team in the world for so long and in the limelight from a young age, you can't deny that he is a model pro... Rather that one time than just being a complete cvnt all the time like Barton and many other players...
Jimothy Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Anyone else hoping giggs makes a pigs ear of this? Grown to dislike him over the last couple of years. Don't be so short sighted. If he does well he might get the gig full time, then when he's doing shit next season it's a lot harder to sack a club legend than it is to sack some bloke from Scotland.
