Harry - LCFC Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Yes, fancy not picking themselves for the team, the fools..... You might continue the theme this year with Futacs, Whitbread, Vardy, Waghorn, Gallagher, Wellens....it is annoying that you can only play 11 isn't it.... Mark's more or less summed up what I would've said. For the money they were on Ball and Pantsil were just shocking signings, I'm not saying Futacs, Whitbread etc. were good but they still contributed more than the worst of Sven's signings and probably on far lower pay. I'm just saying Ball hardly ever gets a mention, it's always Mills or someone else who actually played who gets talked about. When assessing Sven's signings you can't ignore the ones who hardly ever played and got paid for it.

I think a very valid criticism of the Sven signings is that he appeared to be recreating Man City from when he was last here Vassel Kasper Ball Fernandes Johnson Mills
Foxblogger Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 I reckon as total guesses; Schmeichel £15k De Laet £6k Konchesky £25k Drinkwater £7k Morgan £12k Whitbread £10k Marshall £7k Danns £20k Vardy £6k King £18k Dyer £12k St Ledger £15k Logan £4k Waghorn £10k James £7k Gallagher £20k Schlupp £8k Wellens £20k Beckford £30k Moore £5k Knockaert £8k Futacs £5k Nugent £25k Wood £10k Don't think I'll be too far out with most of them. Wouldn't be surprised if Pearson's signings were on more than I've put mind. I want to point out that this is in no way a dig, but those look like underestimates to me. Altogether those wages would cost the club just over £15m a year. If that were the case, there would be no reason at all to sell anyone. The club would easily meet the FFP targets with millions to spare.
SystonFox Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 here are my guesses. nothing other than a pure guess Schmeichel £20k De Laet £10k Konchesky £20k Drinkwater £5k Morgan £15k Whitbread £6k Marshall £9k Danns £20k Vardy £3k King £15k Dyer £10k St Ledger £20k Logan £3k Waghorn £5k James £10k Gallagher £25k Schlupp £6k Wellens £18k Beckford £40k Moore £5k Knockaert £10k Futacs £5k Nugent £27/5k Wood £15k
MC Prussian Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Well he is an incompetent manager then if he didn't care about what his players were earning. You know, there could well be clauses in the way that make it difficult to cancel contracts before the official end... All of it at a hefty price... Nothing to do with Pearson, more so with the incompetence and blind faith in immediate success by his predecessor and the board and the owners in that matter.
Dan Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 But it seems ironic that Sven spent big money wherever hes been. £274m was spent on players during his time at Lazio. Including breaking the world transfer record signing Hernan Crespo for I think £35m. Actually Lazio went into financial meltdown in 2001 and by then Sven had resigned to manage England. No co-incidence. Bloke's an absolute mercenary and his trick seems to work wherever he goes.

The club would easily meet the FFP targets with millions to spare. Worries me immensely considering I've chucked out some ridiculous money there. I've probably been generous to Pearson's signings. Don't forget though mine is just a basic wage. I'm sure it'll be full of bonuses etc... I've got a mate who supports Everton, reckons Danns is on a deal where if he plays and scores he pockets £40k that week. It's not reliable at all but it wouldn't surprise me if there are clauses like that involved given the kind of money we've squandered. Not what I heard, but hey ho Just because a contract was signed under Sven doesn't mean a player was offered more than double that he was originally on. Again, we may have outbid them but you don't know what was offered by them and what he was on originally It isn't unrealistic though is it? I bet Danns is on very decent money, far more than he's worth. There's simply no way at the age he was at he'd turn down a Premier League side (Bolton) for us for anything other than a very high wage.

God how depressing... although I presume the £30m in last years accounts included a huge chunk of money to pay off contracts for previous misfits. So we are hopefully not too far off (I bloody hope).

Burmesefox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 hate to hark on but the club directors/executive sanction all financial stuff like beckfords wages.Sure sven wanted to sign him but final decision is higher up.Dead easy on here to slag off sven with some justification but it was good for a while got us out of the mire remember he didn't sign the cheques. If I remember correct he got the bullet after 3 defeats on that basis Np has has a result Absolutely spot on. Fans moaning about Sven this Sven that. Sven was sacked too quickly. The board sanctioned the deals. I've been saying for ages that the mistakes have been the boards - Whelan, Neville, and the other chap. Sven couldnt just write out a cheque. He'd identify players and the board would do most of the negotiating.

But then you have the wage bill of the remainder of the squad players, the manager and his assistants, the physio, the sports nutritionalists, the sport scientist teams, the CEO, the chairman, the MD, the board, the sales staff, the backroom staff, groundsmen, plus national insurance etc. So from 15.8 I bet it jumps up a fair wack...just saying

Bought terrible players and we ended up with a team with absolutely NO width, no bottle, and huge divides in salaries/attitudes. Fans like you baffle me. CLUELESS

Guest Col city fan Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 It really is depressing. Some of the wages I've typed out are downright ridiculous as well. Said it a few times.. The 'Sven Revolution' (whoever signed the fookin cheques) was one of the most ridiculous moments in City's history. I genuinely believe this. I still have no idea why people pine after him.

Things weren' great at all but I wouldn' have got rid of him at that point. People talk about rubbish players - yes there were some but there were others that were ok and would still fit in now if Pearson could manage attitudes that many of the modern players bring. Oh and as for bottle other teams this season soon found us out...."Leicester? they're ok but stick it up then and watch themcrumble. Especially that Andy King.......he goes hiding and runs off to his mum".
Dickov22 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Every player at Man City is on 150k a week are they? All have the same snotty attitude as Tevez do they? Different scenario- players with the bad attitude at oruro club were mainly the higher earners. Anyone who has a brain cell could see Beckford had a terrible attitude
Burmesefox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Said it a few times.. The 'Sven Revolution' (whoever signed the fookin cheques) was one of the most ridiculous moments in City's history. I genuinely believe this. I still have no idea why people pine after him. I'm not pining after him at all - just saying I thought he was sacked too quickly under the circumstances. The salaries reported were stupid and I've said all along that the higher management (directors etc) want shooting for what happened.

hackneyfox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 If only you knew how hard Pearson's job has been since taking over the shambles that Sven left...... He's being paid 20k a week so I'm not feling that sorry for him.
Burmesefox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 If only you knew how hard Pearson's job has been since taking over the shambles that Sven left...... If only Pearson knew how to deal with modern footballers, if only Pearson could delegate authority, if only Pearson could motivate his team in a semi final playoff instead of chatting like mates to the opposition when Knocky was injured in the last 5 mins, if only Pearson could handle the press, if only Pearson could detect the one fooking thing we really needed (a hard man in midfield), if only Pearson had a plan B, if only Pearson could tell Kasper to avoid the red mist and stop booting the ball as hard as he could and as high as he could out for a throw in, if only Pearson could be less dull, if only Pearson could stop falling out with his players, if only Peasron could send a side out away from home and up the tempo....................I'm not actually anti-Pearson per se btw and i welcomed his arrival after Sven was sacked
Dickov22 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 He's being paid 20k a week so I'm not feling that sorry for him. Amazing that you know his salary

Yeah, you're right, Schmeichel for example clearly is unmotivated. We were totally outplayed in the play off semi. Watford had better players. Nothing to do with motivation Delegate authority?! What do you mean? He handles the press well. Just doesnt like Stringer and who can really blame him? He knew we needed to strengthen the midfield. Wasn't given any cash to do so. Not easy to pick up good players for free whilst only being able to offer them a lot less than most of your players are on (thanks to Sven) 'plan B' is something people who don't know anything about football refer to. There's no such thing. It's just a buzz phrase people use to look like they're knowledgable. He's tried plenty of formations and different combinations to try and win games Pretty sure he doesn't instruct Kasper to kick the ball out of play. To be honest, I think Kasper is our beak player, I never really noticed his kicking last season. He's superb If you knew why he'd fallen out with Beckford, you'd be on his side trust me Agree with your point about playing away from Home. Bar superb performances at Blackburn (yes I know we lost) Huddersfield, Bham, Sheff Wed. Bristol City, we were very average
hackneyfox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Amazing that you know his salary I don't i'm not itk like so many on this board (Wood on 10k or 20k etc etc) but isn't it generally accepted that he's on 1m a year or do you know better?
