Ashes 2013

I'll be absolutely fuming if the cricket coverage gets taken off sky. Best sporting coverage in the world.

Even more so if its put back onto that exortion liberal racket that is the BBC.

TMS >>>>>> Sky commentary.  :P

It was a shame that home Tests got taken off the protected list just as the Ashes '05 lent a groundswell of popularity to the sport. That said, the money from Sky has come into the game and hopefully it's getting to the right places.

I'll eviscerate myself with a cricket bat before I give any money whatsoever to that scumbag Murdoch, but I will pop along to the pub in between thesis writing to make sure I catch some of the coverage. Listening to TMS at the same time is the perfect combination.

Edit: And are the BBC really running a heavy breathing racket?  ;)

Fox Road. Thank god it's no longer the non-alcohol stand.

Indeed. Fox Road has had a decent atmosphere when I've been before.

I'm in Radcliffe Road middle for three and Hound Road upper for two.

Really looking forward to it now.

Fox Road for me on the Friday also. Basking.

Fox Road gets sunshine most of the day if I remember correctly.

The pitch could be a square turner if this weather continues and bakes it for 5 days.

Anyone who wishes a sport to be taken off public access and put on a subscription channel is not only not - in my opinion - a true supporter but is actively damaging their sport.

I'll happily endure a few more annoying commentators or a few too many ITV advert breaks so long as the best sporting occasions are viewable by all.

I'm hugely in favour of SkySports piracy. Murdoch and co are leeches on sport, regardless of how good their coverage is.

We are going day 2 so the Friday in Manchester it was going to just be a night on the ale Friday stop over and then come back Saturday. Its now turned into Drive up Thursday out of the ale, cricket Friday on the ale all day and night, stop over again. Then Saturday drive over to Middlesbrough for the Leicester game, then drive up to newcastle for another night on the tiles then back Sunday were we have a afternoon football match to play in. Now just to tell the misses i am basically going on holiday up North!

This will either make up break me!

You can't really be serious calling TMS > Sky. TMS is ok and it's viewable if nothing else is there but Sky Sports cricket coverage is absolutely unrivalled. It's quite brilliant.

I think the TMS commentary is better than Sky commentary.

Anyone know what the New Stand is like at Trent Bridge?

You obviously don't remember the old BBC coverage of home tests and having to listen to away matches on the radio or watching on teletext. Channel 4 did a pretty good job but when you are missing wickets because they are going over to the Horse Racing it's kind of pointless.

Football has been destroyed by Sky but Cricket has hugely benfitted from it, the money has filtered through the game and we have gone from being a national joke to one of the finest sides in the World with the best youth set up in the World.

You only live once and if people genuinely would miss out on watching some of the greatest moments in their life because they disagree with the political opinions of the guy who runs the organisation who provides the coverage then god help them lol.

Even Purpleronnie agrees with me when I say Sky is outstanding value for what you pay for it.

Though I suppose travelling to South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia to watch them obviously makes me not a true supporter if I want Sky to have the coverage.

Yeah,it's a good stand. You'll see the first people getting turfed out about noon.

Before the West Indies test last year one got turfed out before the toss.

Oh yeah, the coverage is great, but the commentary team for TMS is far superior.

Hence Sky coverage + TMS commentary = good combo!

First ball will be bowled at 730pm over here, premium viewing time. Wish i had the coin to go over for this first test reckon the atmosphere will be electric when Watto Tons up before lunch on the first day.............I can dream right.

Any news who the first test side for your mob will be?

Not sure who will be in the Aussie but the bowling line up will be the only certainties i would say are. Watto AND Rogers openning, Clarke at 4, Haddin Keeping and either at 6 or 7. Siddle, Patto, Starc and Lyon as the bowlers and in that order batting.
