Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Could always use the rosebowl if you have to go south, I just don't see why one city gets 2. Because 15 million people live in the London metropolitan area?
Strokes Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Because 15 million people live in the London metropolitan area?not 40% though is it?
Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 not 40% though is it? What do you suggest then? Do you know anywhere with 20% of the UK population that deserves a Test Match? What a ridiculous comment. On that basis only London should have a Test as it is the only place with 20% of the population. Fact is London is far closer to having 40% of the country's population than anywhere else without a Test is to having 20%. Also, the overwhelming majority of the country lives within 2 hours' commute of London, something which can't be said for anywhere else with a Test standard ground.

Seems obvious really.
Corky Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Aussies basically 200-6. Will we be tempted to chase?
leicsmac Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 There's the declaration. 226 off 44 overs, pretty much a classic ODI chase. I would love, love England to go for this, but I don't think they will.
Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 south east, west, midlands, north east, north west. Seems obvious really. Except for the fact that more than twice as many people live in the South East (inc London) than anywhere else. Your argument's a nonsense mate. Everything points towards 2 tests in London: Tradition Population Revenue Infrastructure Weather (notwithstanding this week) The ECB would be mental NOT to hold 2 tests per summer in London.
Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Why is everyone rimming Clarke's declaration? He'll only have himself to blame if England win 4-0.
Corky Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Why is everyone rimming Clarke's declaration? He'll only have himself to blame if England win 4-0. It's the in-thing to do. Clarke has suddenly become this top captain, despite them not winning a Test for a long time.
Brainy Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 I was hoping Clarke would do this. Hardly anything to lose
I am Rod Hull Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Going nicely here, we might actually pull this off. 142 off 26 required.
I am Rod Hull Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Time now for KP to do his stuff. Have a team ever lost a test match with 2 declarations?
leicsmac Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Time now for KP to do his stuff. Have a team ever lost a test match with 2 declarations? Twice. "West Indies' Garry Sobers against England at Port-of-Spain in 1968 and South Africa's Graeme Smith v Australia in Sydney 2006 are the only captains to have declared twice and lost a Test." Courtesy of the Beeb.

stevelcfc Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 If the umpires take them off, England will be fuming. Wonder what Lehmann will say.
Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 at Clarke complaining about the light. What a shit captain. It's his fault they're in this mess.
Brainy Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 Australia trying to slow the play down? Omm cheating!
