Ashes 2013

Warnie has fired the first verbal blast, calling Cookie "negative and boring" with his captaincy.

I think he missed out "winner" though. It's ok, Clarke can take the positive captaincy title, shame it's not next to a meaningful trophy but there you go.

Cook doesn't need to set daft fields as he has a bowling attack that will take wickets on its own.

Warnie should be more concerned about his bowlers whp consistently can't even defend 360 in one dayers.

England team to face Australia A: Cook, Carberry, Trott, KP, Root, Ballance, Prior(wkt), Broad, Swann, Tremlett, Anderson

Live on Sky tonight for late birds.

Very interesting to see Carberry opening the batting with Root in the middle order, looks like that might be how we go in the 1st test. exciting to see Carberry get his chance because he is a top player and i think he will have a good series.

Hope I'm proved wrong but I think he'll be miles out of his depth over here, I'd give him a go in the T20's but I don't see him as a test match player.

My WACA tickets arrived at the end of last week. The one test I have all 5 days for is the one we're bound to lose. Good work 'Kokopops.

Anyway, I good start to Hobart. I like Carberry but I think that's largely because he reminds me of a pirate. I think it's the earring

I'm also in Perth for the test. Flying one week visit with two other City supporters, and a Man City supporter. So, at close of play on the second day we head off to some bar to watch City v Burnley on TV at approx. 7.30 WA time. The QF is more complex as it will start at 2.45am the following Wednesday. Heavy session!

I'm jealous of you both as I won't be getting down there this time.

That was deliberate buffet bowling last night.

I have to disagree. He is the form batsman at the moment. Carberry to open and Root to play at 6 is what I would go for.

How do you come to that?

Average scores in Div 2 last season, surely Vince was the guy to pull out of Hampshire? Scored more runs at a bigger average over a longer period of time.

Strange bowling selection from Australia A; no real pace, a bowler short and a jet lagged all-rounder.

Still, I'm sure Cook and Carberry won't complain having hit themselves into a bit form.

It's not an Aussie A side, the selectors have focused all the contenders for test selection to play shield cricket instead.

Lets have some predictions then.

Score; Australia 1-3 England

Top batsman: Cook

Top bowler: Anderson

Top armed convict: Clarke

Top unarmed convict: Harris

Most wides: Our Mitch

Cook's due a decent Test score. So many starts in the summer without going on and he's scored his only centuries against the Aussies down under.

Can't disagree with any of your predictions other than the score line. I'm going for 2-2.

Pencil in the Gabba test for a draw, forcasting plenty of rain.

Cook

Anderson

Clarke

Harris

Looking forward to see if Mr. Inconsistent Mitchy Johnson does anything.

Brisbane Draw

Eng

Draw

2-1 England. These pitches are much more suited to Cook and Trott compared to our own pitches. Expecting a couple of good knocks from either one if not both.

Top Eng Bat - Trott.

Top Eng Bowl - Swann.

Top Aus Bat - Clarke.

Top Aus Bowl - Harris.

Personally prefer away tests than at home. Buzzing for this, I'm off work Thursday so I will watch probably until tea time.

me too, despite it losing me money.

Looking forward to a few early mornings to catch the last couple of hours of play. Anyone know roughly what sort of time close of play will be in the first test?

Runs from about midnight until 7am, except Perth which starts about 2-3 and finishes at 8-9ish.

And with that it's about time for me to go to bed ready for it.
