Where do we still need to add?

for a start, 3-5-2 is a crap formation we should stick to 4-4-2 or maybe 4-4-1-1 with striker dropping into midfield to help out when needed, if we play either of these then i'd say we need:

a cb; obviously because we just don't have enough quality in depth, maybe even a couple of cb's so that Liam Moore can cover at rb

a lb (someone instead of konch)

a cm who is a ball winner who can knock players off the ball and who can pick out a pass aswell maybe someone like Liam Trotter

and a striker to provide some real competition for woody & nuge

i'd get rid of:

danns

gally

sledge

futacs

vardy

konch

Marshall was looking his best in the first few games of last season for me, when he was played wide and was putting in all sorts of crosses. He was fantastic against Blackpool on TV and the perfect example of his assets is Nugent's header v Derby at home. He'd just come off the bench, he skinned someone on the wing and put in a beauty of a cross in the blink of an eye. This is the kind of thing we saw from him time after time in the first few games of the season, check the highlights of Peterbrough, Charlton, Blackburn, Blackpool - there's examples on all of them (you need to tape it all off the TV like obsessive moi ;) ). In every game a peach of a cross/cut back of his led to or nearly led to a goal. After the international break he lost form and did nothing for most of the season, but that's not because he was out of position.

He doesn't have the close control or quick thinking and vision to play in the centre like Knocky, who is wasted on the wing. I really can hardly remember Knocky cutting back a cross from the corner or near the by-line, most of his highlights are from coming inside to shoot or play a killer pass. That's not to say he's awful on the wing, it's just not his best position. He generally looks to come inside so why not play him there?

I agree with you it does look unlikely we'll get 4 players, and a winger is certainly not as essential as a centre back or even another striker.

I just looked the like of Marshall at the back end of 11/12, we wasn't playing for anything, the team just went out and produced good football. The football against Doncaster when we won 4-0, yes you could say it was only Doncaster, but we absolutely destroyed and dominated them, and a key part was Marshall in the free role, linking up with players, taking risks, being quick on the ball. On that evidence and a few other games towards the end of that season, to me he looked more than capable of playing that attacking midfield role, and he did have the close control and vision to unlock things. Knockaert is just a different kind of winger, Marshall you can say is more old fashioned, Knockaert I believe has the pace, he just doesn't show it enough especially when trying to track back, sometimes he can be lazy, but he has the skill, can take players on and loves to cut inside, I would love to see him played in an attacking midfield role, but I also like him on the wing.

We won't get four players, two is enough and in my opinion they should be a centre back & central midfielder, I would of wanted another striker, but the way Waghorn and Vardy have played in Pre Season I would give them a chance for the time being.

Larrauri won't be near the first team this season.

Think we need a centre back more than anything.

Of course I'm dreaming, but it would be nice to see him get a shot.

Centre back is a must, just hoping something can get done.

Centre half. Without a doubt if we actually want to use 3-4-1-2.

I thought Knockaert and Vardy are both more than suited to that role?

What worries me about FFP and this season is that I felt it was a lack of depth last season that really cost us and so we really could do with signing to improve. Not necessarily on our best eleven but to give us options in the event of injury, sickness, suspension or loss of form.

We could do with an extra CB, better cover in the middle and up front and we desperately need another pacey option out wide.

Despite being massively unimpressed with his decision making in the second half of last season I was probably still more "pro" than "anti" Pearson by the end and I wanted him to stay and keep building but I'm very anxious that we aren't actually doing that, especially with other clubs pissing in the face of the new rules.

I hope it pays off in the long term. I'll be optimistic that it does.

Could do with a extra/back up centre back. We do have several wingers, but Gallagher isn't good enough although if we play 352 that doesn't matter anyway I guess.

Given our current plight, a good centre half would be a dream and then we might have to leave it at that.

I've grave concerns over our forwards, Waghorn, Vardy and Futacs showed they couldn't be relied upon to step up to the plate when Wood and Nugent weren't on form. Let's hope they don't suffer a drought this season and if they do that Pearson plays Schlupp through the middle and hope to god he's improved.

The rest of the squad is possibly good enough.

Absolutely!!!! Which is all the more frustrating that the club haven't cashed in on an asset to then spend on improving the squad. Kasper is a quality keeper but he's replaceable and the million saved on his wages and potential £3 million in transfer fee could have given us the chance of bringing in 2-3 new players, maybe even more depending on how shrewd we were. Brainless and Pearson and the Thai's deserve all the muck that's coming this season.

A CB is a priority, especially if we play 3-5-2. Whitbread just doesn't have the pace to threaten players in wide areas.

If Danns go's, get a CM. If not we shouldn't get another player on the books just to sit on the bench.

I think the loan market is our best bet.
