Bilsthorpe Blue Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Just read in the paper that jesse lingard ended up being top goal scorer in manures pre season tour with 4 goals Cant be the same one that came on loan with keane surely?
bluesbrothers Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 You're referring to Jesse Lingaard the footballer. We signed Jesse Lingaard the ballerina, remember?
goose2010 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 The Goal he scored yesterday was world class! http://bbcsporf.lockerdome.com/articles/108694405
Fox92 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 He played a few minutes of a few games, he looked poor here. Doesn't mean he's a bad player, and obviously plays for one of the biggest clubs in the World.
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Remarkable, they are raving about him. However, this has happened many times before with young players on loan at clubs and not making an impression, Andros Townsend springs to mind. Likewise Harry Kane, was exceptional for Millwall on loan but just never got in to the groove with us. Infact as far as loan signings go more often than not, they don't really achieve much for the club borrowing them. Not for us anyway, obviously there's been a few exceptions to that but only a few. Lingard will no doubt go on loan again this season to someone like Forest or Blackburn and blitz it.
FoxesBoyChris Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Played about 10mins at Leicester. Knew he couldn't have been judged on performances that he had here as he barely got a touch or a real chance. I'd like him back on loan tbh, but I think Pearson has burned that bridge with him.

Although Tom Cleverly practically was given his United jersey from the year he played with us. Went onto Wigan and played just as well at the higher level and now is a regular United player.
RowlattsFox Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Think it just proves how stupid some fans for writing him off as a shit based on a couple of bit part performances. I wonder how he would fit in with the 352 formation we have been trying. A couple of pre season goals don't mean he's going to be a star but its ridiculous how quick people are to class him as shit.

Exactly! A 3-5-2 with Lingard playing as a CAM behind the strikers would be amazing.

Guest NGoloMode Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 The championship is a higher level of competition than Kitchee and the A-League All Stars.
Mark Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Maybe it's another example of Pearson not having a clue how to get the best out of flair/creative players.
Master Fox Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Only at Leicester would a top class player become shit in the view of the management and fans. We have a way of turning great players into useless dog turds.

Babylon Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 You could tell he had ability as some of his touches and movement were very good, he just wasn't in the games but that's not always the players fault. People wrote of James when he first started playing because he wasn't instantly brilliant, but like Lingard you could see he had a good touch and a bit of class.
Mark Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Groan, knew it wouldn't take long I don't think he had much interest in being here but still, we could have done more to help the loan work instead of a few minutes here and there. Seems Pearson didnt think he was worth the risk.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Please don't use cringey nicknames like "Manure" and "Florest" it makes me want to puke.
Dan Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 The Goal he scored yesterday was world class! http://bbcsporf.lockerdome.com/articles/108694405 Fvcking hell was like Messi v Milan last year. I always thought we wasted him. Got a lot of stick from our fans but I actually look at Pearson this time around for almost failing to use him. Won Man Utd's U21 player of the season and that's not easy. Waste of talent by us IMO.
MrSpaM Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 I think he only touched the ball twice the whole time he played for us, im not even joking
stockyfox Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Living in Stockport and with many of my friends being United fans, I have for some time been quite aware of the merits and talents of Jesse Lingard. So when I heard last season that he was going on loan to us, I was quite excited. However, all the attention seemed to centre on Keane and Lingard was hardly mentioned. He came on as a sub after about 70 mins, hardly touched the ball and failed to impress. Quite honestly, I reckon that given the opportunity, Nigel Pearson should try to get him back on loan and play him behind Wood or Nugent - even Martin Waghorn. He is lightnIng fast and his direct running causes problems for defenders. He is a proven goalscorer with a powerful shot more often than not, on target. Incidentally, the links between City and Man Utd have resulted in their fans taking more than a passing interest in Leicester and there was a fair amount of sympathy when we failed to get promoted.
Bettsj2 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 It probably didnt help that when he came here he was trapped in the body of a 5 year old boy.
