They are the perfect example of how bad owners can destroy a club, although never a big team they did manage around 30 years in the top division, they actually look more like having 30 years outside the league now.

You can't blame the owners completely, the people of Coventry just don't have enough interest in their club.

Wonder what the attendance is tonight. Looks like 9k maybe

Where's Matt when you need him?!

He's normally all over this thread like white on rice.

Yeah he bloody hates Cov and don't we all know it!

The Ricoh killed that club.

The reality is that they often struggled to fill a 24,000 capacity stadium close to the city centre even when they were a Premier League side, to build an out-of-town 32,000 capacity stadium while marooned in the second tier was nothing short of stupid arrogance.

Cov tried to copy Leicester, they seen the success the foxes had when they moved into the walkers (king power) and wanted to do the same. The difference was at least Leicester build there stadium within in the city and only a short distant from Filbert Street.

Thank fvck we got out of that division in one season, being outclassed at home to Swindon in front of 25k empty seats would be utterly soul destroying.

However frustrating this season has been we've still won four matches, drawn with Everton and Arsenal and beaten a Premier League team in the FA Cup. Coventry is a stark reminder of what might've been.

And a reminder of how great Nigel Pearson's job was. I hope no Leicester City fan underestimates that season. Coventry, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, Southampton, Nottingham Forest are all big clubs that failed to win promotion back to the second tier at the first attempt. Not only did we win promotion, but we totally smashed the league.

Was thinking about lumping on Swindon tonight..bloody wish I had..

The floor's the limit for them at the moment.

A stadium that was 75% empty tonight, just four points above the relegation zone to the fourth tier, no money to buy new players, seemingly irreparable damage to the relationship between club and fans and no real hope of any change on the horizon.

Never mind being in the Conference in five years, they could be out of existence the rate they're going. I seem to remember Darlington's ground being around 90% empty most weeks, how far are Coventry off that if they go down to League Two?

I mean, imagine the attendance for a Tuesday night in January against Accrington or Morecambe?

The Ricoh is a factor, but we all know SISU killed this club (along with the terrible ownership before that).

When SISU took over the first attendance was  over 22,000 and on average it dropped by about a 1000 till we got relegated to League One when it dropped by 5000.

SISU had a plan of getting us promoted to the Premier League, buying the ground of the cheap and then eventually selling us for a far superior price. Unfortunately their master plan failed and realistically they should have left 3/4 years ago.

As someone has said, Coventry could be playing non-league football in 3 years time.

Do you see the club going out of existence?

If so, will it be something that's welcomed as it was at places like Chester and Hereford so the club is finally out of the hands of people like SISU?

It sounds drastic, but Chester have done pretty well out of it. They're back at the same level they were before liquidation and in the same ground, not to mention being a fan owned club.

Being honest, I don't. SISU are too stubborn to leave. They will happily take us to the conference and build their 10,000 seater stadium, which after this season will be two times too big for us!

I'm genuinely shocked a protest club didn't form while you were playing at Sixfields, it would surely have garnered some support.

It's a shame to see a club go to the wall like this due to incompetent leadership, on field ineptitude is one thing but sheer idiocy in the boardroom is quite another.

A small club named 'Coventry United' was created at the time of the move, but only around 100 bother watching them. They are actually doing really well with a back to back promotion likely this year.
