Corky Posted 17 November 2014 Posted 17 November 2014 Lee Hughes.. Marlon King.. the dirty dozen. Hughes was signed and had left before the fatal incident, unfair to criticise Coventry for that.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 November 2014 Posted 17 November 2014 Just a thought here, but I wonder how many tickets they would give us if we ever drew them in a cup?. I would love to see us take ten thousand there. They'd probably get the fairweather fans crawling out of the woodwork and get a solid 20k in. We'd take a fair few, always do in the cup.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 November 2014 Posted 18 November 2014 Now that rugby union side London Wasps have bought the ground, Coventry will rent from them. Wasps are leaving High Wycombe, with fans furious at their move to the Ricoh Stadium. There have been mass protests here in the town, and the local traders fear losing a great deal of money. I can't blame Wasps supporters for feeling betrayed. Coventry is a long way to go for a home game.

Also I can't see many Coventry being people happy they've already got a rugby team, they may not be that good but it's still disrespectful to them. Why not take the club to a city or town without a team.

I can't blame Wasps supporters for feeling betrayed. Coventry is a long way to go for a home game. It's a bizarre decision. They've moved away from London, even the Home Counties, where there is the potential for an enormous fanbase, to a city that has shown it has little or no historical interest in rugby less than 30 miles away from the biggest rugby club in the country and over 80 miles away from the fanbase they'd already built up. Worse still, they've moved from a 10k stadium that they couldn't fill in their own town to a 32k stadium that they definitely won't. If nothing else though, they'll make Coventry's attendances look impressive.
block15ccfc Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 8,076 in the big local derby against Walsall. Realised I had an account on here from three years ago, so thought I would reply to this thread after following it for a few weeks. With the incredible negativity around the club, if we lose in the JPT next week our season is all but over (unless there is a relegation battle) and our crowds will be even lower than 8000!
Asha Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Are you surprised by that? I actually thought the horror of playing at Northampton would rejuvenate a bit of support for the club, so was it a shock the home game after the initial Gillingham one to see nobody turn up?
johnny the fox Posted 1 December 2014 Posted 1 December 2014 http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/17000-wasps-tickets-already-sold-8205056 A proper club takes over the Ricoh...at last.
block15ccfc Posted 1 December 2014 Posted 1 December 2014 Are you surprised by that? I actually thought the horror of playing at Northampton would rejuvenate a bit of support for the club, so was it a shock the home game after the initial Gillingham one to see nobody turn up? I am very surprised if i'm honest. When we returned there was an enormous demand for tickets, well over 35,000. The game against Gillingham was brilliant, the atmosphere and the feel good vibe around the club made me wonder if we'd continue with decent crowds. The 1-0 win was only the second time we'd won at the Ricoh in front of a crowd of 25,000 or above, so to see the turn out 8 days later be 11,000 was baffling. We were actually around the play offs at the time too. Since then I haven't been surprised at the drop, the team on the pitch have been dire, nothing compared to the side we had last season. Add to that the continued hatred towards the clubs owners it's no surprise the attendances have been around 8000. A lot if you have been to the Ricoh and various other modern grounds and including your own will admit the atmosphere can be poor at times, but it has never been this bad. If you think the Ricoh was soulless before, you'd be shocked what it's like now. Half the food outlets are closed, no club shop, no betting facilities etc. Now the Wasps have taken over, the Ricoh is to see some changes, obviously the Wasps branding will be going up, but the seats will remain sky blue. It's not a great time for the club, probably it's lowest, although a win next week in the JPT against Bristol away (very unlikely) and we will have another sell out at the Ricoh for the area final.
SystonFox Posted 1 December 2014 Posted 1 December 2014 That's awful. I've been Ricoh twice for the football and once for a gig. For the gig it did its job as a stadium would do, I could've been anywhere. But for the two footy matches I've been the atmosphere was awful, home and away fans. I hope the club recovers in some sense. I don't want you back in the prem any time soon. You're now at your level but go much lower and it could be curtains couldn't it? Continue to exist at that level and you'll be fine

johnny the fox Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/52133-Lineker oh.. the irony.. looks like a full house at the "arena" today, is it a first?

Nah I remember they had one v Chelsea in the cup years ago, it was almost full for a JPT area final, and almost full for their first game back at the Ricoh. Obviously concerts they've had there have been full but full houses are very few and far between.

Jealous is a very ugly thing lol Yeah ok, I'm sure a winner of a World Cup golden boot (and perhaps England's greatest ever striker) is jealous.

Matt Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 Coventry have a bigger rugby club than Leicester now . Wasn't even a sell out today, 4000 tickets unsold. Still 18,000 more turned out today compared to the football yesterday though And I have been informed this afternoon the tickets were £10 for yesterdays game so you can't even use the expensive tickets argument - Unless the information i've been given is wrong.

Yes they were. It's still remarkable that 10,000 turn up to watch the club which must be in the top 3 worst to support in this country.
oxford blue Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 Wasps attendance today was only 900 more than CCFC first game back at the Ricoh in September...
