Dan Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Interesting article from Chris Wood http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-19637149-detail/story.html?#axzz2bSHYoAwI Chris Wood has yet to get off the mark this season despite starting against Middlesbrough and Wycombe but says he is well prepared. "This was the first proper pre-season I've done and, hopefully, it has done me the world of good," he said. "My good runs last season came because of confidence. Every striker thrives on it. Hopefully, I can get off the mark as soon as possible. "I don't feel any pressure but when you play up-front you are doing your job to keep the shirt. You might not score but you might be doing something different." Wood, who joined City from West Bromwich Albion in January, is relishing linking up again with David Nugent in City's attack. "We all know what Nuge is like," he said. "He's a great player, a great athlete and he works hard for the team. He's an experienced player and will talk to me a lot. "He's a great character and loves a joke and a bit of banter. He's great off the pitch as well as on it. "He's always up to unusual things – he just does what he wants. "Hopefully I'm the sensible one, I keep under the radar and, hopefully, it comes together. "I hope the fact our understanding clicked early on will continue." I do like Wood to be honest. Seems a genuinely decent character with something to prove, I just don't think we're playing to benefit him. It's a mistake Pearson keeps making. We're far less direct with Vardy in the side and it improves the entire team as a result.
Tedders Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 great believer in earning your place, Vardy has done enough to earn his place and should start. (saying that none of us know what wood has been doing on the training pitch)
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Vardy/Nugent.. For me that's the best partnership
Swarles Barkley Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Who wouldve of thought one week ago that the vast majority of fans would pick vardy ahead of wood eh. I completely agree, vardy played better at middlesborough so deserves his chance. Hopefully he can kick on and live up to his price tag!
Bilbo Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Hmm difficult one. Vardy deserves it on last week's performance but dropping Wood could cause him to lose more confidence. I'm a big Pearson supporter but I don't know what it is that makes me think Wood isn't being played in the right way and if he was he would be a Lambert type asset for us.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Vardy, in order to boost his confidence. It will also provide Wood with a wake up call.
I blame Wellens Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Vardy, in order to boost his confidence. It will also provide Wood with a wake up call. This really says it all. Both sh*te! Hey let's play waghorn to boost his confidence. B*llocks!
GorlestonFox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Funny how everyone was writing Vardy off a few months back.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Vardy for me. Obviously very early still but he shined against Middlesbrough and could be valuable to us this season. Personally thought he started last season well but it was obvious his injury and illness set him back last season, and with Wood having and outstanding honeymoon period he was made to look worse.
MGLCFC Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Wouldn't be surprised if Pearson starts with the same XI as last Saturday, with Nuge coming on after 50 minutes as he's still not match fit. Hope Knockaert makes the bench, however, as at home I think we need to show intent, particularly if things aren't going to plan.
FOXES-BROWNBOY Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 even though Vardy scored against middlesbrough, he isnt good enough if we are to get promoted this season. I would start with Nugent and Vardy but if Vardy isnt playing well and were not winning bring wood on about the 60th min.

Weller in Tights Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Vardy and Nugent looked good at Boro in that last half hour. Strikers are form players, go with that for now, Wood will get his day.
Bettsj2 Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Wood and Vardy should start and Nuge on the bench.
Guest Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 I find this choice somewhat depressing. I guess either Nuge and Wood or Vardy and Wood with Wood going off after 60 for whoever got left out?
Guesty Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Normally I'd say Wood, but you've got to go with form. It sets a tone for the squad for the entire season and shows them if you play well (or better than your direct competition) then you keep your place.
leicesterseddon Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 It has to be Vardy. I still don't rate him as a player, but he does have some talent - and I reckon with some goals and a bit of confidence he could be OKish in this league. Wood's form is terrible, and he was shocking at the Riverside.
Walshy5 Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 None of them! We should be doing everything we can to get kane and bednar on loan!
Ash79 Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Not a huge Vardy fan but you have to admire his attitude and determination this term, plus he's the man in form so Vardy for me 100% It's also a bit of a blessing that we have a striker selection problem...
