Guest Col city fan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Last season, like many others, I went slightly over the top at times with criticism of the team and of Pearson. I think this was borne out of frustration.. We'd been playing so well and then became so bad so quickly it was difficult to understand and digest. This season (so far), I just wanna say I think Pearson is getting things just right. He does seem to have learnt from some of the errors he made. Moore has been selected at just the right time. Vardy has dramatically improved. Beckford has been sold. The formation is changing when needed and not just the same every week. Hammond is a solid signing. The lads appear confident. I'm actually proud to be a City fan at present. We've gone about this season with a steely determination which underpins a team that's going in the right direction. There has been little over-expectation and exuberance. Good! I think this is the right way to go. Keep it up lads, you are doing the right things. Finally, even if we suffer a couple of defeats, I now feel confident we can bounce back. I didn't feel that last season.
foxfanazer Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Spot on Col. Everything seems to be getting done under the radar and it suits us down to the ground. This club has become a bit of a media circus over the last few years and its created a really strange atmosphere. It feels like NP is finally coming close to having the squad he wants and not having to clear up the mess Sven left behind. As you say Vardy and Moore have been a revelation this season amd all round the squad looks solid. We have probably the best keeper in the league, a solid back four (especially if Konchesky is back to his best), our options in the middle of the park are excellent with King, Drinkwater, James and Hammond. Our strikers are doing enough at the moment as well. The one area I feel we are a bit weak is in the wide positions so a couple of loans would be nice. Anyway it feels like a good time to be a city fan
Dan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 There are some real similarities to last year (I look at the way Charlton/Mboro away went) but I fancy us to maintain this more. We look adaptable as a team and look capable of playing different ways.

Cardiff had several failed attempts before making it, so this can be our year. We have plenty of options and genuine depth, hopefully the latest additions will prove as valuable as they look.
hackneyfox Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I'd agree with all of that but he'll get praise from me when we are promoted or don't revert to a defensive style and hoofball. Very happy with how things are going at the moment but a wide player on loan would be good, perhaps Taylor-Fletcher will fill that role.

At least we get a half a weeks piece from the likes of your good self and seenitall now we're in the top two. I still think with the team we've got and some of the teams in this division if Pearson manages to finish top six at the end of the season he's done a good job. It is certainly starting to appear that QPR are going to walk it their team is just to good and then there are a good number of other teams knocking around with superior XI's to ours. If Pearson manages top two he's done an absolutely outstanding job.

If you take a leaf out of NP's book - don't overreact if we win a few on the spin, don't overreact if we lose a few on the spin - then you won't go far wrong. People who blindly praise the manager annoy me almost as much as the ones who blindly criticise him.

I'm a fan of NP but was surprised he wasn't sacked, wasn't convinced before this season but so far we've seen a mix of gritty performances and style in the last two home games. Not getting carried away, just enjoying the fact we're winning again.
TrentFox Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Bloody hell ! A couple of decent performances and FT turns into a God-damned hippy-tree-hugging love-in !!!!! Jeez ! Think I prefer it more when you're all abusing each other !
MrSpaM Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Sing when were winning! You only sing when were winning!
FoxLAD Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I felt we played better football last season. Knowing that we haven't been the best team and still winning witch gives me more confidence in the team!
cuddly ken Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Great start, slowly getting better. However I still think 3 or 4 losses and he will get the heave ho.(no that's not eve the prossie)
Nick Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 The pre-christmas fixture list 'tough month' looks to be October. We'll see where we are then, it's such a tight league that I think we'll yo-yo around the top six all season - it'll be how strong we finish that decides it. Nearly brought a tear to my eye though looking at the table last night!
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 At least if it all turns disgusting like last season, you've still got me, and I'm going nowhere in case any of you were worrying

Out Foxed Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 proof that a lot of you need to quit with the knee jerk reactions, doom and gloom and get a bit of perspective.
Mack Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Just to clarify this for those who don't go to games. We are winning but I still don't think we are playing that 'well' yet. We are doing enough to beat the sides put in front of us, and it's a relief the silly formations are in the bin at home at least and our creative players are back on the pitch where we need them. The good news is when we start to play to our full potential the rest of this league better watch out, because no one will be able to live with us.

You mean the silly formations that have got us points this season
leicesterisme Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Are you seriously including QPR in that? Why not? Fvck me they are nothing special, they have some good players and so do we. We're more than capable of beating them home or away.
Mack Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 You mean the silly formations that have got us points this season I mean the silly formations that were clearly not in our best interests. Were you at those games? Because if you were you'd know there were glaring deficiencies in our performances.
Mack Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Are you seriously including QPR in that? Yes. If we play to our full potential no one could live with us in this league. QPR are nothing special, although they will be up there IF Redknapp stays the whole season, which I would doubt.
Nick Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Yes. If we play to our full potential no one could live with us in this league. QPR are nothing special, although they will be up there IF Redknapp stays the whole season, which I would doubt. Maybe. The problem with this League is that after a bit of success, you get 'found out' - it happened to us last year. Flying high, then a team comes and cramps the play, stops you playing football, parks the bus, stifles the creative players with double marking and ruffles feathers with yellow card tackles...... then the others watch how they do it and teams only ever come play you for a point. Next thing you know, your away form is shocking, you are trying new formations and realising you haven't got the players for hoof-ball and your manager is put in the stocks with a sign above him that reads "No Plan 'B'" scrawled on the back of his P45 and nobody knows where the next goal is coming from and the dressing room is like a blameful wake. My point is, I suppose that if any of the top eight teams played week in and out to their 'full potential' they'd walk the league but it doesn't seem to happen like that. Let's see where we are in January because I'm concerned about quality in depth in the midfield and it may well depend on what injuries are picked up. It's great to be top (until QPR smash Brighton later) but let's not get too carried away!
