pSinatra Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 Saw Velvet Underground at Glastonbury in '93 Sad news
ousefox Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 RIP. Too young still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wNknGIKkoA
I am Rod Hull Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 He was a massive influence on my favourite band - Simple Minds. They covered this on their Sparkle in the Rain album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkG9BKgDvNI RIP Lou. Legend.
Jordan Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 wow shocked, velvet's and his early solo stuff still sounds amazing.Lou Reed and Metallica's "Lulu" is easily one of the worst albums I have ever heard.

Larry_LCFC Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 Read on Twitter it's supposed to be a hoax. Surely not though.
Foxfromburbage Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 SAD - loved listening to transformer as a teen in the 70's on a cassette.

21st Century Fox Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 Shit! I love Lou. I remember hearing he had a liver transplant but I thought he was doing well. Rock n' Roll Animal might be my favourite live album ever. The opening Sweet Jane is unsurpassable.
inckley fox Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 Oh dear, very sad. Haven't listened to him for a while, but there were a few Velvet Underground songs that always take me back to uni days (Murder Mystery, I think, I'm Set Free and pretty much anything off the Nico album).
Fox92 Posted 27 October 2013 Posted 27 October 2013 An influential musician who will be missed, no doubt about that.
ozleicester Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 The first car i bought had an 8 track stereo system in it, it came with 2 cartridges, One i think was a Dylan cartridge, but that gort chewed upo the first time i put it in....... The other was Lou Reed's " Transformer". As this one actually played and i didnt have an alternative, i grew to love Lou. For those who may never have seen an 8 track cartridge, this is similar to how mine looked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-track_tape
Zingari Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 RIP Lou one day velvet underground next day casket underground no more walking on the wild side for you .
Guest Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 good music but sometimes you have to pay early for drug and alcohol abuse. Surprised he made it to 71 if I'm honest.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Legend, but as FIF said above, you don't live into old age with that lifestyle.
sphericalfox Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 for those who enjoy some bleeps and bloops
Uncle Phil Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 There's a Lou Reed doc on bbc4 at the moment, only 10 mins left but will be repeated no doubt and it'll be ok iplayer.
