Manwell Pablo Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Better performance than I expected but we're still losing to a under strength side at home.
Guest shearfox Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 There's not an international friendly thread, so just thought I'd mention Gibraltar have drawn their first ever match 0-0 with Slovakia. That is quite a result

Manwell Pablo Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Spain lost to South Africa 1-0 aswell Near enough full strength as well. Crazy result.
Stadt Posted 19 November 2013 Author Posted 19 November 2013 I think Spain are beginning to get 'found out'.
Fox92 Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Nah, Spain always lose pointless games. They win when it matters.
Danno Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Need to blood more of the youngsters like Germany are doing tonight. Morrison, Berahino, Ince, Ward-Prowse etc are all ignored for players like Gerrard on the decline.

Stadt Posted 19 November 2013 Author Posted 19 November 2013 Sturridge reminds me very much of Lloyd, a world beater one day - garbage the next.
Webbo Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Can't think of a more depressing week for an England fan. 2 games at home and we haven't forced a save out of either keeper. Never looked like like scoring in either game.
Danno Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Because Gerrard will go to the world cup and they wont. And how will we know if these players are good enough then? I'd rather them play tonight at Wembley than against fvcking San Marino.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 That was terrible. Home defeat to Germanys B team and barely a shot in anger. I'm convinced we are going to get totally embarrassed during the world cup next year. But, we did look half decent at home V Poland and Montenegro so maybe all is not lost.....

What's the point in playing players who are basically in the team for Brazil already rather than those who need to prove themselves?

Tielemans63 Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Wow. Must be close to being one of the worst England sides ever. They actually played okay tonight but didn't really create a decent chance even against Germany B. Embarassing. A midfield 3 of Cleverley, Henderson and Lallana is enough to strike fear into the hearts of...absolutely no-one. At least Ireland gained a spectacular 0-0 draw against the mighty Poles.
Corky Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Can't think of a more depressing week for an England fan. 2 games at home and we haven't forced a save out of either keeper. Never looked like like scoring in either game. November 2007 was miles worse, not even qualifying for a tournament. We played some decent football but no cutting edge. They had a solid defence and we didn't towards the end of the first half. I like the look of Lallana, Townsend was lively and Hart had a good game, which will help his confidence.
GingerrrFox Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Tells you all you need to know when Jordan Henderson is playing for England. He is nowhere near international level. I would rather Ravel Morrison played than sit on the bench against San Marino U21s FFS. It's obvious Henderson will never be international class so why still pick him? Zaha has clearly got more talent than Lallana as well. It's ridiculous.
Jimothy Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Last year. We all know what he's like. What's the point in playing players who are basically in the team for Brazil already rather than those who need to prove themselves? It's all about balance, you can't throw all those new players in in one go. We know certain players, through years of consistent club and international performances have warranted a place on the plane, eg Gerrard, Rooney, Cole, Jagielka. Over the two games he's tried some new players, Lallana,Rodreguiz, Jones (at centre back). Where the players you've mentioned like Morrison, Shaw, etc should have come in is in place a deadwood like Cleverley who we a constantly persisting with despite clear indications he is no where near good enough for England.
Stadt Posted 19 November 2013 Author Posted 19 November 2013 As bleak as two home defeats look, the amount of sustained pressure we put Ze Germans was encouraging.

Lallana is playing well for Southampton, if Zaha wants to prove he's good enough to play for England ahead of him he might want to get a loan to a club where he actually plays football because right now I'm forgetting he even exists.

Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Totally missing the point. Firstly Germany have beaten us comfortably, in a tournament. Secondly, you said Germany weren't that good because they hadn't won a tournament, most teams haven't in the last decade, including Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, Portugal etc, I could go on. Judging a team solely on the fact they have won a trophy is stupid, Tahiti have won a trophy since the Germans last lifted one. International trophies are few and far between, so saying a team isn't very good because they haven't won one for a while is incredibly idiotic. Yet most people regard Germany above those teams and on the level of Spain who have won the Treble. I'm not saying that Germany aren't very good because they clearly are but I do think they are overrated.
Guest shearfox Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 I see only five players that I would consider good enough to even think about reaching the quarters, the rest range from poor to good at best... Smalling is just awful... Cleverley, Henderson very poor. We are quite far behind the likes of Germany that is obvious.
