Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 2. *Half decent, 1 man team Watch enough of the Chilean national football side to say stuff like this, do you?
Kitchandro Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Calamitous defending all evening. Forster at fault for the second too, reminded me of when you don't have a keeper at 5 a side and you put the pussy fat kid in goal and as soon as someone shapes to shoot the keeper moves out the way. Smalling just nah, Baines had an off night, never seen the good in Cahill, jones still young and hasn't a clue where he's playing each week. As a nation we should all be forced to individually apologise to John Terry until he decides to come out of retirement. And play Ashley Cole in every game that matters. Ugh. Yeh lets just keep playing them until they're in their 50s no matter how gash they are. A great plan for the future of English football, that. I mean we've looked so astonishingly good at every major tournament they've played in it's just the obvious answer, right? Ah, remember all those classic England performances over the last 10 years....no? Neither do I.
Kitchandro Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Some people have strange ideas of what being embarrassed is, would you actually be embarrassed if we organised ourselfs well kept it tight and scored a goal on the break? We are not technically as good as Spain Brazil Germany Argentina etc so we have to set up well tactically if we want to win games against these sides. Much like Chille did to us tonight. This has always been bollocks. If we sit back these sides will kill us. England have only ever done ok when they've been positive. It's the only way English players know how to play. We will get dicked by every man and his dog sooner or later if we don't adopt a positive mentality and learn how to pass the ball. Keeping the ball is massively important in football and we can't do that. And we need to try and score some pissing goals against these sides. Playing for penalties is obviously pointless so play to our own attacking strengths, whatever they may be. None of those sides mentioned are perfect, Brazil have always had defensive frailties for example so you have to try and exploit that. We are not total minnows, but we have to attempt to beat teams and not just avoid losing, because we're shit at that anyway.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 we have to attempt to beat teams and not just avoid losing, because we're shit at that anyway. Before tonight, hadn't we gone over a year without being beaten?
ADK Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 It was a friendly and player motivation was probably low. We turned up and thumped the poles when it mattered which is more important.
Super_horns Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Certainly tell which team was the more settled. Cannot say anyone came out with great credit apart from Lallana but fair play to Chile. Very good technically and took the chances. I feel we'll put more into the Germany game with a stronger side.
foxfanazer Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Watch enough of the Chilean national football side to say stuff like this, do you?Yeah I'm a big fan I meant they have 1 player you could consider as world class. As a team they keep possession nicely and are very confident on the ball. They press quite well and defend alright. Still think its a poor showing
Uncle Albert Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Why is Rooney wearing the number 10 shirt?! Does he own it or something. This is probably the stupidest post to ever hit FoxesTalk, seriously what was going through your minute brain when you thought to post this? Have you never noticed before that number 10 is Rooney's number for England? Just like number 4 is Gerrard's? Even when Gerrard was playing on the left under Capello he would wear number 4, not 11. Absolute idiot.
Bert Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 People will be moaning why the keeper has number 1 for England soon. Embarrassing. As Loft has said that is Rooneys number for England. One of the perks of being a senior player is you get to choose little things like that.
ScouseFox Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Ugh. Yeh lets just keep playing them until they're in their 50s no matter how gash they are. purpleronnie Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 It was a friendly and player motivation was probably low. We turned up and thumped the poles when it mattered which is more important. well if playing for england does't motivate you then not sure what would.
Corky Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Roy did what I've heard calls for. Play the in-form Southampton players. Drop Hart for Forster. Play Baines instead of Cole. And that's what we got, a comfortable defeat. No disgrace really and it's best to get it out of the way now. Hopefully Gerrard, Hart, Cole, Sturridge and Townsend are in from the start on Tuesday.

Dan Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 John Terry is gone. Can we please not lower ourselves to pandering out to that twat. He was a great defender but he's gone now. Think Baines did himself no favours. I'm one who supports having Baines over Cole but he was crap last night - did Cole's cause a lot of good. Rooney was awful but to be fair to him he's looked a lot better recently, so I'd rather he saved his shit games for friendlies.
kingfox Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Adam Lallana could become a key player for England, but like Miquel Geordie aka Zsolt Laczko aka Leeds said he was out of position last night, same with Rodriguez. Hodgson has to utilize the players properly, make a bloody decision on Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, and stick them in one position where they feel most comfortable, not swapping them from right-back to centre back to centre mid. Welbeck, Rodriguez aren't wide players, Rooney plays too deep for England, it works for Man Utd because he has a World Class striker in front of him, we rely on Rooney too heavily, the major thing looking ahead is a possible partnership with Sturridge, if that can be effective like his partnership with Van Persie at United, then good things will come out of our performances. Last night, I think England missed Carrick, those types of players we all know don't get the recognition they deserve, so with him out we had to put Wilshere in & Milner who in past games, and in Milner's case most of his England career, have been rubbish.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 make a bloody decision on Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, and stick them in one position where they feel most comfortable, not swapping them from right-back to centre back to centre mid. The only problem with doing that is that they don't play in a definitive position regularly enough for Yanited, real shame considering Phil Jones looked an absolute diamond at centre half a few seasons ago.
Socks Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 I'm glad I missed the Chile game...... Germany will batter us
Ric Flair Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 The harsh reality is that defensively we are appalling and scratch below the surface of our first choice midfield and attack and we're nothing more than mediocre/dog muck. I'm genuinely worried for our future at the minute, we're going through a transition but I don't see where the talent is in defence. I hope we give the salmons a good go tomorrow night but if they turn up, they'll rip us apart unless we're very lucky. It would be nice if we can show some attack intent as defensively we're vulnerable to most nations so a blistering counter attacking team it could be harrowing. It'd be nice to see us give them a taste of their own medicine as well though. A 4-3 win would be a nice outcome, Rooney all 4.

Absolute idiot. That's fine when he's playing as the number 10 but on Friday he was the lone centre forward so he should have worn 9. Because of his selfishness Lallana had to wear 9 and Wilshere had to wear 7 which are both wrong. Rooney wears 9, Wilshere wears 10 and Lallana wears 7. They would have been the correct numbers.
WillieJTejeda Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Yeah I'm a big fan I meant they have 1 player you could consider as world class. goose2010 Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Randomly team has been confirmed for tomorrow. England team to face Germany: Hart, Cole, Jagielka, Smalling, Walker, Cleverley, Lallana, Rooney, Townsend, Sturridge #SSN
ScouseFox Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Giving the Germans a chance with the old 10 men tactic there.
goose2010 Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 I did think there wasnt enough but thats a direct copy off sky sports news Gerrard is playing as well
