One Legged Beaver Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 No Mandzukic? Interesting. He's Polish. I hope you're both joking
Danno Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 He's Polish. You must be thinking of Lewandowski mate, he's the polish one.
MC Prussian Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 You must be thinking of Lewandowski mate, he's the polish one. Oh no, I'm pretty sure Mandzukic is Polish, their names all end in -ic, basically. Lewandowski's that famous Croatian.
Danno Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Oh no, I'm pretty sure Mandzukic is Polish, their names all end in -ic, basically. Lewandowski's that famous Croatian. No Dante in the German squad either, surely he'd walk into that squad.
MC Prussian Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 No Dante in the German squad either, surely he'd walk into that squad. Such a crying shame. I was ready to cheer for Germany, but without him and Higuain, I'll sadly have to give it a pass.
HEGGSY Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 No Dante in the German squad either, surely he'd walk into that squad.Where's Robben?
Danno Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Such a crying shame. I was ready to cheer for Germany, but without him and Higuain, I'll sadly have to give it a pass.Same here actually.
MC Prussian Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Same here actually. There's always Uruguay with Lichtsteiner and Pirlo.
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 When you look at Fred and Jo up front it's amazing that Brazil haven't called up Diego Costa.
Stadt Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 A lad I know was asked who did he think'd win the Euros and said Uruguay, How we laughed.
AKCJ Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 The only player in the world who reminds me of Ronaldo is Suarez. Ronny was obviously miles ahead of anything Suarez ever will be but they both have that tenacity, will to win, touch, finishing and flair. But the main difference between them is that Luis is an insufferable cvnt. Cristiano is all about agility, pace and power, Messi is all about touch, dribbling and class, Ibrahimovic is all about flair, entertainment and the 'right' sort of arrogance. Mix those attributes and you've got the real Ronaldo.
AKCJ Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 A lad I know was asked who did he think'd win the Euros and said Uruguay, How we laughed. Why? Two world class strikers is enough to give anyone a chance, and that's without even considering the rest of the Uruguay side.
Stadt Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Why? Two world class strikers is enough to give anyone a chance, and that's without even considering the rest of the Uruguay side.Falcao is overrated
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Germany haven't got a prayer of winning the thing as their group games are in serious heat. Will take way too much out of them, even if they have got a very youthful 30 named there. I expect that Durm, Mustafi, Goretzka, Ginter, Meyer and Volland will drop out anyway. Think Hahn will get the nod. Looking forward to Pride of the Midlands coming in and claiming that England are a better team. Germany are better but they are overrated. Haven't won a trophy in nearly 20 years.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I'd forgotten how good Ronaldo's touch was. Good article on his 98 World Cup final on the Guardian website today - part of a great series they're running.
Kitchandro Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Nostalgia has got the better of some people on here. Ronaldo better than Cristiano, Zidane and Messi? Don't think so.
Grandad. Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Nostalgia has got the better of some people on here. Ronaldo better than Cristiano, Zidane and Messi? Don't think so. The Ronaldo on his day was better than the pair of Cristiano and Messi, Zidane? Well he was just a genius.
Amin Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Nostalgia has got the better of some people on here. Ronaldo better than Cristiano, Zidane and Messi? Don't think so. Before his double knee injury, yes. At 20 years of age he was already on the level of those three players in their prime.
ScouseFox Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 yeh but ronaldinho was better than them all put together
Guest ttfn Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Nostalgia has got the better of some people on here. Ronaldo better than Cristiano, Zidane and Messi? Don't think so. Watch that video on the previous page. The close control of Messi (probably better), running as fast as Bale or C.Ronaldo.
Guest MattP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Nostalgia has got the better of some people on here. Ronaldo better than Cristiano, Zidane and Messi? Don't think so. We really aren't. Of course Cristiano, Zidane and Messi will go down as greater in history as they have achieved what they do with longevity but in first few years of his career Ronaldo was head and shoulders above everyone in the World and that includes Zidane. Had he managed to keep that level up he would be regarded alongside Maradona and Pele now. This will sound ridiculous considering how good he was for Brazil but in 2002 he was probably playing at only 50-60% of the player he was when he first arrived at Barcelona.
