Wouldn't this suggest that he's likely to start? If so that is rather concerning.

It's very concerning if you ask me. Lampard has done his time as an international player. He would be useful to bring on if we're winning and trying to kill a game but that's it. He shouldn't start.

We've also know for years that the Gerrard-Lampard midfield duo never works. We should be looking at the young guns and starting them.

Having said that I would of took Ashley Cole instead of Shaw, only because Shaw isn't going to start ahead of Baines, and probably won't get any game time in this World Cup. Ashley Cole would of probably been a better option as cover because of his experience.

Sounds like I'm going around in circles here. :S

Finding good tickets and services are really tough. I have been dealing with Roadtrips and Ludus Tours. Do you have any suggestion between these two? Roadtrips is about twice the price, so I feel like I’m missing something. Thanks!

Lampard will not start, the only game I could see him styarting is either the Costa Rica game if we've already qualified or in a later round if we are struggling for fitness on other players.

Yeah, I would say so too.

Being Vice-Captain doesn't mean you're a certain starter, Lampard is the Vice-Captain for Chelsea but hasn't meant he starts every game for them. Would expect to see him brought on in the Italy and Uruguay games if the games are tight, then start v Costa Rica if we are through and can rest Gerrard.

Someone with a bit of authority around here bring the 'England's World Cup Year 2014' in this section please and Prussians 'Switzerlands World Cup Year 2014' thread, thank you.

...No way, not every game anyway, too old, it'd suggest he'd start if something happens to Gerrard which I can sort of get along with.

Agreed. I love the potential of Barkley, Henderson, Lallana and Wilshere but say Gerrard got injured, i'd feel every so less confident of a midfield duo of 2 of the 4 mentioned against the likes of Italy's midfield or heaven forbid Spain. Lampard knows his onions.

There's a lot for us here to digest about the Donovan decision. Klinsmann and Donovan really don't seem to get along, Klinsi has been preparing for a post-Donovan era since "the sabbatical," LD has been in poor form and has admitted his body just doesn't recover like it used to, Klinsi wants youth + hard workers, Klinsi doesn't think LD is a good fit for his system, and Klinsi is clearly building a base for 2018 (I can't blame him, considering our draw and his long-term contract).

That said, if there were no extenuating circumstances (I.e. Effect on team chemistry, etc), I'd have liked to see Donovan on the roster to at least come off the bench. I've never been a Wondolowski fan and I think he'll be out of his depth in Brazil.

Dude, it's Bleacher Report--anybody can submit an "article" to that site.

I hadn't checked this thread in a while. There's absolutely no way anyone can be that biased. Lambert & Welbeck over Villa lol lol

I'm with you here. I can't wait for it now. World Cup fever has well and truly kicked in.

Love everything about the World Cup my first was USA 94 and even without England involved loved everything about it, I think living where I do where we haven't got any professional football clubs anywhere near us makes it an even bigger occasion for us when it does comes around. Couldn't believe it when I read on Foxestalk last month that 1 fan would rather see us win the Championship and fail in the World Cup rather than us finishing 2nd in the Championship and winning the World Cup but everyone has their own opinion. In the past I've loved all the hype thats come with it especially leading up to 2006 although I'm glad this year its dulled down the level of expectation and pressure has always been our biggest downfall.

I've dropped a bollock and organised me and the missus to watch a show on Sat 5th July which I now realise is the date of two out of the four Quarter Final ties (schoolboy error on my part).

Now, I know England may well not make the Quarters, but, if they do is it more likely to be on the Friday night or the Saturday? (or is it impossible to say at this juncture?) I realise I could probably work things out myself but i'm young and foolish and have a peanut for a brain.

I'm not saying owt to her at the moment but if it comes down to it then I'm not going to some poxy show and missing England getting knocked out on pens in the Quarters, fuck that shit.

If England win the group it is on the Saturday, if England are runners-up then it is on Friday.

You're really good at trivia and you're obsessed with Shola Ameobi

It started as a joke with my Newcastle supporting mate, but I've actually grown to like Shola. He not a great player, but he's not a terrible as people make out.
