Guest MattP Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Fvck me. On another rather sad note, I'm just reading that Patrick Van Aanholt is in the Holland squad. Yes that's THE Patrick Van Aanholt who played for us. Christ almighty. Holland's defence is absolutely shite. Ron Vlaar is the most capped player in the back four. They are prime fodder for a Group stage exit if Chile turn up at their best.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 I went to Dusseldorf a few weeks ago and saw this lad play. Looked like a decent player, could be a decent prospect for the future. I think his scored 5 goals in his last 6 games playing on a wing, his super quick too. But Spain, Netherlands and Chile

Jam Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Argentina have seriously left out Carlos Tevez? Yh apparantly because he said and I quote, ' i'd rather go to disneyworld with my family this summer than play at the world cup'. I wish I was joking, he implored the coach not to pick him. A quick google should find the quote haha.
Finnegan Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Tevez is a good footballer but he's a renowned cvnt. If he can't play nice with Messi and Aguero (who most people would pick just ahead of him anyway) why suffer his influence in the squad? Messi, Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria is a good enough front four for anyone anyway. Attacking options aren't their problem.
Corky Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Spain will never win ANYTHING until they some pace and a big man up front. Seriously - "big man option" - No wonder we have won fcuk all for 50 years, some of the fans are still stuck in the days of Howard Wilkinson and John Beck. Even for POFTM wuming that Villa analogy is taking the piss. Would Iniesta get in or does he not have the pace of Sterling? Sod off Pique, you ain't as tough as Cahill. I We are just the sort of nation to put a player with 56 goals in 94 caps on the stand-by list.
Corky Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Villa is past his best and is generally a sub for Atletico Madrid. He doesn't have the pace or athleticism of Welbeck. He doesn't have the height of Lambert. And he clearly wouldn't be ahead of Rooney or Sturridge. He'd be ahead of Defoe on standy-by though. He's even considering going to the MLS. Past his best? 13 goals in 30 league games this season, fvck me, he's lost it all.
Grandad. Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Yh apparantly because he said and I quote, ' i'd rather go to disneyworld with my family this summer than play at the world cup'. I really rate Tevez as well, would have loved Liverpool to have gone for him but right now he isn't the sort of player we need. Shocking attitude though, to not want to play in a World Cup is shocking. Mike Bassett wouldn't accept that! Sooner the World Cup starts the bleeding better!
Narborough_fox Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Thiago ruled out of the World Cup. Think Spain's midfield could become exposed now...
Grandad. Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 This isn't a Pride of the Midlands wind up, but Spain really don't fear me.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Really? What an absolute idiot. Shocking attitude though, to not want to play in a World Cup is shocking. Mike Bassett wouldn't accept that! Sooner the World Cup starts the bleeding better! To be fair, Tevez is probably only said that because he knew he was a goner anyway, Maradonna and Batista both lost their jobs playing Tevez where he wanted and moving the likes of Messi, Aguerro and Di Maria around to accommodate him, Sabella cut him loose the minute it became apparent he would not sit on the bench without causing a fuss, he's not played for Argentina for like 3 years. This isn't a Pride of the Midlands wind up, but Spain really don't fear me. I didn't realize you were inline for a call up, Hodgson been down the Wymeswold having a look?
Grandad. Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 I didn't realize you were inline for a call up, Hodgson been down the Wymeswold having a look? Haha, England could do with our left winger at the minute Sam Moore, what a player. Me and Gary Cahill at centre halves.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 If you pick up a point it's a huge success. What a group to be drawn in. 5/1 for us to not score a goal is great value
Narborough_fox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Diego Costa pulled up with an injury for Atletico Madrid today, no idea on the seriousness of it but he was in tears on the bench when subbed. Could be a huge blow for Spain. Lahm was also subbed with a heel injury in the Pokal final against Dortmund today but should be back in training next week. NB: Costa's injury means he's out for the Champions League final and his World Cup could be threatened according to 'AS'
Nick Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Will the three England friendly warm up matches be shown anywhere?
AjcW Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Diego Costa and Pedro both had a bit of a cry after coming off yesterday so i'd imagine they all think they're ****ed for the WC.
Buzzell Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Lovely movement and finish from Murial for that goal for Ecuador.
Kitchandro Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Frank Lampard: England midfielder named vice-captain Frank Lampard will be England's vice-captain at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, says manager Roy Hodgson. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/world-cup/27460732 Wouldn't this suggest that he's likely to start? If so that is rather concerning.

I did think that, then thought maybe it means should Gerrard get injured Lampard would then play? Would have gone with Rooney or one of the centre back myself though.
Stadt Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Hart should be the captain after Gerrard, he'll be a mainstay in the side for another 10 years.
