StanSP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Sometimes can't believe how many awesome clubs he played for, and the fact that some were rivals too. AC Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSV. Insane scoring records at all of them (even AC Milan when he was ageing).
Amin Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 We really aren't. Of course Cristiano, Zidane and Messi will go down as greater in history as they have achieved what they do with longevity but in first few years of his career Ronaldo was head and shoulders above everyone in the World and that includes Zidane. Had he managed to keep that level up he would be regarded alongside Maradona and Pele now. This will sound ridiculous considering how good he was for Brazil but in 2002 he was probably playing at only 50-60% of the player he was when he first arrived at Barcelona. Yes, from 2002 onwards he was merely world class. Sometimes can't believe how many awesome clubs he played for, and the fact that some were rivals too. AC Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSV. Insane scoring records at all of them (even AC Milan when he was ageing). Trust me, he was still brilliant to watch during his time at Corinthians. Well worth watching some crappy stream in the middle of the night.
MC Prussian Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Switzerland's coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has presented his extended squad selection today: Goalkeepers: Benaglio (Wolfsburg), Sommer (Basel), Bürki (GC) Defenders: Lichtsteiner (Juventus), Schär (Basel), Rodriguez (Wolfsburg), Lang (GC), Djourou (Hamburger SV), Ziegler (Sassuolo), Von Bergen (YB), Senderos (Valencia) Midfielders: Inler (Napoli), Shaqiri (Bayern), Stocker (Basel), Behrami (Napoli), Barnetta (Frankfurt), Dzemaili (Napoli), Xhaka (Gladbach), Fernandes (Freiburg), Mehmedi (Freiburg) Forwards: Drmic (Nürnberg), Seferovic (Real Sociédad), Gavranovic (FC Zürich) On hold: Hitz (Augsburg), Christian Schwegler (RB Salzburg), Derdiyok (Leverkusen), Klose (Wolfsburg), Pirmin Schwegler (Frankfurt), Kasami (Luzern), Fabian Frei (Basel) An alright team, but the lack of firepower up front scares me a little.

That's where you'll fall down. Ecuadors your key game, French will have little trouble with you I don't think. Mind you I guess the Spain game last World Cup shows anything can happen.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 That is a top seed for the World Cup right there There on merit. Seeded on results not the players in your team.
Guest MattP Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 No Isco? Can you imagine what their standby list will look like?
ScouseFox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 There on merit. Seeded on results not the players in your team. but they're shit
ScouseFox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 wouldn't like to say who of that spanish 30 will be dropped.
Danno Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Torres, Albiol, Moreno, Thiago, Itturaspe, Llorente, Carvajal will probably be dropped
Narborough_fox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 No Isco, Inigo Martinez, Ander Herrera, Arbeloa, Monreal, Marc Bartra or Illaremendi in that Spain 30...
goose2010 Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 wouldn't like to say who of that spanish 30 will be dropped. Torres and Villa probably 2 or them
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 but they're shit Clearly not that bad as they've picked the results up.
Narborough_fox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Clearly not that bad as they've picked the results up. You say that but the only reason that Switzerland were in the top seed for the World Cup draw was because they didn't play any friendlies, which in itself is a very clever move, and they had a weak qualifying group that they breezed through. BBC explained it really well... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25134584
Merging Cultures Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 I just did a world cup predictor. Brazil v Spain final, Germany v Portugal for 3rd place. We lost to Spain in the quarter final. Group G should make for interesting watching. The US team has been improving and Ghana are always great but shows how tough the group is with Germany and Portugal making it to the 3rd place game.
AyewJoking Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 I'd forgotten how good Ronaldo's touch was. Good article on his 98 World Cup final on the Guardian website today - part of a great series they're running. where exactly did he touch you?
ScouseFox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 januzaj in the belgium squad. good way to make sure he never plays for anyone else i guess.
AyewJoking Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 gimme a januzaj in the belgium squad. good way to make sure he never plays for anyone else i guess it was either that or a baseball bat to the knees.
kingfox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Belgium Squad Goalkeepers - Courtois, Mignolet, Casteels, Proto Defenders - Alderweireld, Ciman, Lombaerts, Kompany, Van Buyten, Vanden Borre, Vermaelen, Vertonghen Midfielders - Chadli, Dembele, Defour, De Bruyne, Fellaini, Januzaj, Hazard, Witsel Strikers - Mirallas, Origi, Lukaku, Mertens
Grandad. Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Belgium are taking four goal keepers? Am I missing something? Januzaj, the biggest myth of the Premier League 2014/15 season, wouldn't have even got in the England squad if he did choose to play for us.
Narborough_fox Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Belgium are taking four goal keepers? Am I missing something? Januzaj, the biggest myth of the Premier League 2014/15 season, wouldn't have even got in the England squad if he did choose to play for us. Think they aren't quite decided on the third keeper so they've named both with one being cut soon. Januzaj is only going so he can be capped and therefore no-one else can call up, in my opinion. Thorgan Hazard has had a much better season than him in Belgium.
