Guest Col city fan Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Right then, It's nearly Christmas and City have had a good, solid first 20 games. We're third and only two points off the top Some feel that Pearson is the man to take us up, others remain unsure, still others would like to see him go. So, put your (Christmas) cards on the table............. Based upon what you've seen so far, where do you think City will finish in the final shake-up? Give your opinions regarding why, if you wish to. We can then refer back to the thread in the early summer.
Mark_w Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 THIS POLL IS SHIT. Sorry, couldn't break the habit of a lifetime. I'm going with top six, don't go up.
Fox92 Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Top 6, don't go up. Standard. Voted in the hope I'm wrong.
ithuriel Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Top 6, not going up, loved to be proved wrong though.
lcfc will Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Unfortunately, this season has third place written all over it, and more playoff disappointment beckons (hope I'm wrong)
Matt Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Depends how we come out of/if we come out of this 'blip'. Yes we got a draw against top of the league yesterday, but it wasn't very inspiring. I've been quite confident and positive up untill the Sheff Wed game, pre match v Sheff Wed I said 'it was the type of game we'd lose', we lost it, then the fixtures ahead worried me and I seem to be right having those worries. I wish it was as simple as saying 'get next weekend out of the way v QPR' but it's not, the games keep coming, thick, tough and fast. I think we need to limp through to January like a wounded animal and then push on. Whether that'll be good enough remains to be seen. Sorry to have had this U-turn an to have become so negitive again but it's the way it is, it's they way I see it, it's the way I feel. I don't want to feel like this or have these opinions, but at the same time i'm not gonna delude myself. At this current moment, my prediction is a play-off finish, again. Hopefully I will be reassesing this in January, hopefully I will be more positive, the team and players will be more positive and the opinions will be different, predicting a top 2 finish.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 We're wobbling but I still think we've got another gear with a lot of football left to play. Doesn't look like anybody is going to runaway this season and I'm not scared of facing anybody in this division. Good manager, enough depth in the squad to be there come May. Don't think it'll be pretty but we can do it. COYB If by early summer I look like a muppet I'll feel no shame!
foxfanazer Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Gone for Top 6 and go up because that would count for Automatic and playoff
Jace Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 4th or 5th for me bottle it in pens in the play offs
Wilson_6 Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Well you lot are cheery this morning. Any one would have thought we got battered by the top of the leaugue team yesterday Top 2 COYB
Buce Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 A few games ago I'd have said top 2. It looked like the three teams at the top were pulling away and I fully expected Burnley to drop off the pace (still do). However, recent results and performances, coupled with a resurgent Rams, has dented my confidence. I'm thinking top 6, bottling the play-offs.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 This poll purely reflects our last few games. If we had won our last few games to be in the position we are now (say because we had lost games earlier in the season), then everyone would be going, "Yeah, we're going to be automatic promotion!" Unfortunately most people can't remember their last meal or know what they will be doing in 10 minutes time.

Why are Burnley any more likely to drop off the pace than we are? Theyre above us still after the same amount of games played. They must be considered serious contenders however poor they looked yesterday.
lgfualol Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Definitely make the playoffs I'd hope. I just don't think we'd do well in the play off finals.

I don't think they have enough quality in the squad to cope with injuries and suspensions, and I think they'll lose Ings in January.
kingfox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Play-Offs don't go up, Derby will beat us at Wembley.
bellind Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Pearson should get off his a--- and down to the touchline, the players need pushing on, or we will even drop out of the playoffs, I have my doubts this squad will make it.

Is Ings' contract expiring soon? You'd expect them to do their best to hang on to him. We're currently finding out that our squad isn't that strong either. Who's to say they will suffer injuries to their main players? Just playing devils advocate like!
cjslcfc Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 It seems top two or bust for most. I've gone for top two. Despite the last 3 matches I just get the feeling we're going to do it. I just feel like this is the squad and the manager to take us up. This is on one condition though. We need a goal poacher! Maybe that will be Wood when he gets fit again, if he gets played enough. If not I'd genuinely splash out on someone like Nahki Wells who I am sure would take us up! It's the one thing we lack (maybe right wing cover as well but it's a side point)

Hey, you're just as likely to be right as I am, mate; if I knew what I was talking about I'd be a lot richer and the bookies a lot poorer.

Likewise. I too expected Burnley to have dropped off by now but they're there on merit. One team always falls away it just wouldn't surprise me if it was us.
AnotherShitSeason Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 One second, let me check... Answer = 9th.
