Guest ttfn Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 First half poor. Second half much better. James made a huge difference as did City stopping at 3-0
dmayne7 Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 I'm ever the optimist but thought we were very poor for the first 60 mins. So lethargic and uninventive. The defending was so a joke for their goals (very similar to Brighton). Was not great at RB and whilst Miquel is decent, we look so vulnerable with him in the team. Drinky wasn't great but then he switched out to the right and was excellent.

gurn Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Let's be honest, we were always going to lose this game. BUT we made them work for their goals, we also had a good few chances to get some goals, although we only managed the one from Dyer. There was some fantastic football played tonight. Looking forward to Saturday now.
justfoxes Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Meh, feel 3-1 flatters Man City slightly, don't get me wrong they clearly deserved to win. First half I felt if we could go in 1-0 at HT we'd have a good chance of bringing it back. Thought they were abit dirty, but that's something lack - Grit and getting involved, we need to do it ourselves more. First half we played well, 2nd half not as good but ok. Totally agree thought we played well and the typical prem prema Donna diving and moaning to the ref ! We did really worry them at times and Dyer was awesome at times he had 3 players on him totally awesome display from dyer also thought James and Schlupp had a good game too ! But why are people so FOOKING negative about tonight we were beaten by a better side a quality side but we will need to buy big of we get to the premiership because Man Citybshowed is the total class we will be up against !! Now to restart our great WINNING performances starting this Saturday with QPR !! COYB
muzzy1981 Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 There was a gulf of difference tonight between our player and theirs in terms of ball control and brains. With the exception of James, miquel, Morgan, drinky and king, knocky almost but still to learn. The rest are top lads and decent champ players but defo couldn't make the step up. Good effort on the whole though tonight
AnotherShitSeason Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Super GTF up front on his own Saturday carving open a outclassed QPR defence?
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Tactically we were all wrong and were wide open. They stopped at 3, make no mistake about that. I came away feeling flat. Ive seen so many league cup nights at Filbert St, the ground rocking and us having half a chance of winning. Tonight's game was nothing by comparison. It was men against boys really. And to play GTF in front of Schlupp tonight made no sense to me. We were never gonna win tonight but we could at least have made a game of it. At risk of pissing off the pro Pearson brigade again, frankly Man City were very good and we were garbage. A total anti-climax IMO. On a plus point, at least we made some money out of it..

dmayne7 Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Even between 0-1 and 0-2 when Man City looked panicked, were picking up silly bookings and letting us through? Yep. They were sloppy no doubt but we really didn't do anything of note and I genuinely wouldn't have felt hard done by to be 4/5 nil down at half time. Last 30 mins we gave a very good account of ourselves and whilst they took their foot off the gas, we didn't allow them to play and we were controlling the game.
The Guvnor Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Needed a good start, they totally controlled the first 70 mins without breaking sweat. As a positive we played well in the last 20, Lloyd still has the pace to unsettle the best.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Am I the only one that thinks only losing 3-1 to a team that put 6 past arsenal at the weekend, is a good result?. They didn't really put out a weakened team either whilst we made quite a few changes
gurn Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 We did? First goal aside, I thought the others (particularly the third) were the result of schoolboy defending. They certainly didn't walk the balls into the net. We were pretty good with closing them down, but I never expected our team to beat theirs. We are in two different leagues. Their team cannot deny that they played a game tonight.

Are you really surprised given the obvious gulf in class(not to mention costs of players on show)?
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 They made 8 changes. The excuse merchants will be hard at work buddy. With the exception of Lloyd Dyer, we were awful.
Captain... Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 We didn't make them work hard enough for the goals, that was the most disappointing thing, including the first, great strike, but we could have won the ball twice in the build up and a needless foul by Knocky. Such a shame the first goal came so early too. Other than that, they were better than us, but we weren't outclassed.we kept the ball well at times, harried them and caused them to make lots of mistakes, we even carved out a few decent chances, not to mention the goal. Plenty of positives from the game, but also a stark reminder we aren't Champions League material yet.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 They made 8 changes. Yes, but the players who came in have all played a part in their league campaign. Even the man city fans were surprised at how strong a line up it was
MC Prussian Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 The excuse merchants will be hard at work buddy. With the exception of Lloyd Dyer, we were awful. First 75 minutes - bad to mediocre at best. Last 15 minutes - good. Overall, mediocre. But not awful.
melrose Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Very glad I decided not to go tonight Well done me!
Webbo Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 First half pisspoor, second half better, their 3rd goal was a little against the run of play. Vardy's effort and James's bit of class improved things no end. Tbf 3-1 flattered us.
