Ericsson has signed for Sauber next season.

I guess money talks in that move, hasn't shown anything special at Caterham. Presumably that's Sutil out of a drive there.

I'm surprised costs are so high, most of the teams use customer engines and many other components and aero is constantly being limited. Is it more a case of the wealth of the sport not being shared out evenly?

Absolutely. The top teams with the big budgets get the most money, with teams like Ferrari getting huge bonuses just for showing up. This means the smaller teams are spending near their maximum budget, and sometimes over, just to keep up the current gap to the big teams while knowing that they can never close the gap. Caterham, Marussia and HRT never stood a chance once the talks of a budget cap broke down a few years a go. The team principal press conference is a good watch if you want to see the challenges the smaller teams face, as well as the attitude of the big teams on the matter:

With pay drivers like Ericsson, Maldonado , and Gutierrez, it leaves the upcoming drivers nowhere to go.

So a Mercedes 1-2 with Lewis winning in Brazil would mean he needs to finish 5th or higher in Abu Dhabi to win the title, if Rosberg win that race.

Hamilton needing 5th place in the final race to win the title, it's all a bit déjà vu.

Can't stand the double points rule. Should be Hamilton racing to seal the title in Brazil. Instead the race is practically meaningless as even if Hamilton wins and Rosberg DNF's the title will be up for grabs and Hamilton can afford to lose to Rosberg in both races.

I know, it's total bullshit, and I've said that from the moment it was announced, not just since it became obvious it could work against Hamilton. No race should be worth more than another, totally devalues the whole championship, especially if Rosberg was to take the title because of it.

I think that was a championship winning drive from Hamilton. He can now coast to two second places to claim the championship.

The way F1 keeps shooting itself in the foot I expect Rosberg to win the title with the double points, which would be a farce and probably do serious damage to the already paper-thin credibility of the sport.
