StanSP Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Freedman isnt the only manager to rate us. McCarthy did also. Even Redknapp said we are a good side. Maybe, just maybe... they mean it? I think it's pretty obvious to everyone that we're a good side. But I think them saying it had more to do with them coming off the back of defeats to us. Harry said his comments before the match. As did McCarthy.
StanSP Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 On the pitch we're the best side. Mentally we are not. That's the only thing that will stop us if anything does. Rather have it that way. Points on the pitch matter. That's what we're getting. .
Mark_w Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Harry said his comments before the match. As did McCarthy. Ah fair enough, I thought he was talking about McCarthy saying it after we smashed them to pieces last year. It's still a sensible thing to say before a game though because it either makes a win seem more impressive or a loss more tolerable.
Stadt Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Today I thought Bolton's better players were on the bench, Pratley, Eagles and Davies are all players that I wouldn't mind here but for whatever reason Freedman chooses worse players to start.
sdb Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 The fact it's the Leicester rejects 11 doesn't exactly make me feel the same. They've got at least 3 first team players who aren't even good enough to get on our bench. 2 ex players - both of whom are good players at this level when their heads are straight. Their bench today had some real talent too.
VLC86 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 2 ex players - both of whom are good players at this level when their heads are straight. Their bench today had some real talent too. 3 on their starting line up and 1 on the bench plus 1 who was on loan
TheStig Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Disagree personally - I'd say on paper we're about the 3rd/4th best squad. What we have is a solid manager, consistency and experience of this level together. Might get hammered for this but I actually think Bolton's squad is stronger than ours on paper. Fool!!!
terry2simmo Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Friedman is inept as a manager in my opinion but what we should take from his comment is a huge Positive.what he is saying is what I want to hear for the rest of the season.Any team that comes to the King Power this final half of the season has to play a million times better to beat us. that is the task they face.
Guest bss9401 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Week in, week out for 30 odd years I have joined in the chant "we're by far the greatest team; the world has ever seen. And it's..........us!!"
Kitchandro Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 2 ex players - both of whom are good players at this level when their heads are straight. Their bench today had some real talent too. They're not good enough to get in our side though are they?
Mack Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 When you look at the Bolton team and bench today if you gave our side and theirs to someone who did not know the league positions of the clubs I'd wager they'd suggest Bolton were the more likely side to win. How Freedman has not been sacked with the enormous underachievement going on under him at Bolton is beyond me. They should be top 8 minimum in my opinion, and his words are most probably aimed at saving his own skin than anything else.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Probably trying to protect his team after conceeded 5 which could easily have been 7 Got to agree with this to some degree
Mark_w Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Out of interest, was Mark Davies being on the bench injury related or is Freedman absolutely insane? Or both?
5waller5 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 5 shots on target and 5 goals according to the BBC stats .... a saved penalty isn't a shot?
Guest ttfn Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 5 shots on target and 5 goals according to the BBC stats .... a saved penalty isn't a shot? The own goal wasn't on target from us
Sharpe's Fox Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 No side is a million miles better than any other in this league, as said before it's all about a squads mentality.

When you look at their starting eleven today, then the bench (Eagles, Mason, Pratley, Davies) and also Holden when fit, that squad should be top six contenders, if not top two if Burnley and Derby can be up there.

I Blame My Mother Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 It makes sense for a coach that has just seen his team ship 5 goals to say that. You wouldn't say, "They suck and we were robbed" now, would you? Well...maybe some would...
Tielemans63 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Totally agree. When you look at their starting eleven today, then the bench (Eagles, Mason, Pratley, Davies) and also Holden when fit, that squad should be top six contenders, if not top two if Burnley and Derby can be up there. I said the same thing before the game. I think there's a few squads that are stronger than ours'. You look at Bolton's team and they should be up there. The difference, in my opinion, is down to attitude. That and our squad has youth, pace and a great spirit. QPR, Bolton, possibly Forest and Wigan all have 'better' squads on paper but I'm convinced they don't have the desire and determination our boys do. It's a bit like when Svennis was here - we had the names but generally they weren't interested in rolling up their sleeves and fighting for it. We seem to have an honest bunch now with a real hunger to prove themselves in the Prem. No point having big names if the attitude's not right.
Rasmic123 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Dont really buy all this "we're not the best team on paper", we've got the best centre back pairing in the league, one of the best keepers in the league, in Drinky we have one of the best midfielders in the league, 2 very dangerous wingers, Vardy in form and Nugent who is good for 15-20 goals every season. Add to that 2 solid full backs and no obvious weakness in the team (I dont think you can say the same about any other team in the league) and I would say that we are easily one of the best teams on grass AND paper in the league. Not to mention a manager who seems to have a solid grasp on things and a bunch of 11 starting players who have sufficient experience at this level
Paulmot Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 I have 40 concerns of my own, they are called points, the sooner we have them in the bag the better.
Mack Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Great point mate, please know that I am here for you if you feel ignored. If this is serious, Thanks. If not yes you are right, I probably deserve the ridicule after such a soppy outburst.
Unabomber Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 If this is serious, Thanks. If not yes you are right, I probably deserve the ridicule after such a soppy outburst. I'd say it's a bit of both.
sylofox Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 5 shots on target and 5 goals according to the BBC stats .... a saved penalty isn't a shot? Official then peno's DONT COUNT lol
