LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Even if Phillips does go to derby we have played them twice now + he is on a half year deal before retirement so he'll never play against again anyway. Could explain why this has dragged on so long but if it's between us and derby then you'd have thought Friday night gave him some indicators as who he should be playing for! Would like to sign him now just for his coaching continuing after he's retired.
Ric Flair Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I'd love Carlton Cole here, he's still doing the business in the PL so has a couple more years in him.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 We've certainly seen a fair few of those in recent years. I don't think I'd want him at Leicester in all honesty. When I've seen him play he's reminded me of Beckford, half hearted. I think west ham fans would disagree with you there mate. They say cole is a team player and always does his best for the club. Something beckford couldn't claim. Not sure I'd have him over our current strikes but I certainly think he is more mobile than he takes credit for when I've seen him play. Good movement. But I don't think he is the finisher we need and is also a very similar players to Chris wood but maybe slightly more out of the Steve Howard mould with the lay off play.
Simmo86 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Between West Ham, Palace, QPR and us. Could do without QPR getting him.

Ric Flair Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 He'll stay in London, why wouldn't he? We couldn't even offer him guaranteed 1st team football because Nugent & Vardy are integral to the way we play as a team.

We our a better side but that isn't going to help KP play football
Bryn Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 QPR surely a certainty for Cole, as someone else says why leave London? They'd pay him more anyway.
MGLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 But he is an intelligent bloke - he must have realised he'd be only a bit part before entering into negotiations. Unless he drops to League 1, I can only see him being a bit part player for any Championship team in the Midlands.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Could play them in play-offs. Good shout - I forgot about the play offs.

We our a better side but that isn't going to help KP play football I think at 40 he must know he will be a bit part player whoever he joins. Dean Hammond and GTF didn't exactly think twice about signing. It's a last pay day for KP so he'll want to make it a good one and go out at the highest possible level. I think we offer him that.
Babylon Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 QPR will have offered Cole a wedge... And what's the best way of getting more, leak it that your closest rival is also interested. He must have the same agent as Wellens.
RizLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Should be done tomorrow according to BroadcastMoose.
chavdonk Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 i've read that Kevin Phillips is coming to LCFC by indykaila. Who is normally spot on with his info.

FreddieFox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 KP's younger son plays for derby u8's as does Lee Grants son. Chris Powell's son plays for the u7's, so the fact that KP was at derby's training ground means nothing to where he will be playing. His older son plays for wolves. I've been told he is coming to us by a member of derby's youth coaching staff last time I was down there so that's good enough for me. Not sure what the hold up is though! The same person that told me this was the same person that told me Nigel Clough was about to be sacked the day before it happened - which I didn't see coming really.

I am not to sure of the benefits we would get as a player from this but do like the idea of him as a coach. To be playing for so long shows he understands a lot of aspects of the game and hopefully he can implant this into our players. But why sign derby shirts ?
davieG Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 ) Daily Mirror Journalist Alan Nixon has tweeted indicating that the Kevin Phillips to Leicester deal has hit a snag and the the player could be in talks with other Championship sides. It was thought Leicester had the transfer done and dusted, but despite strong speculation the contract remains unsigned. At 40, he perhaps isn't in the best shape of his career but his experience has been integral in previous Championship promotions and could prove to be a shrewd signing.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Really couldn't care less about this now. Phillips and Pearson have clearly spoken given what both of them have said so the opportunity's clearly there for him to come to Leicester if he wants. If he really wants to play for the club then it'd be done and dusted by now, if he doesn't then I'm sure we can find someone just as good if not better. It's not Pearson's style to sign someone who doesn't want to be here and this whole Midlands-only stuff stinks of convenience rather than ambition. The issue of Phillips Palace contract only expiring last week has no bearing whatsoever. You're still allowed to talk to clubs in the last three months of your contract and the fact he was being let go by mutual consent means Palace probably gave him their blessing to find somewhere ages ago. The way Phillips has conducted himself throughout this whole episode leaves a bit to be desired, lots of talk but not a lot of actually doing. I'd give him 48 hours: sign on or do one Phillips. Leicester City will kick on to bigger and better things either with or without you.

At 40 don't need him don't want him.
cityfanlee23 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 3 things Is CC mobile enough for our style of play? - and KP is??? Can we afford to or want to pay his wages? Is he the big name Charlie that could upset the group? Whilst it would be useful to have a decent big target man, not sure CC is the answer. Gone past the stage of the fad "Lets get him, would be good for morale etc etc" Have you see how we played against derby? how could he improve that morale?? Don't want him anymore.. Plenty of better options, and wouldnt mind us paying for one..
Soar Fox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 The way Kevin Philips and newspapers/reporters are talking you could be mistaken for thinking this is a £20 million pound deal. It's a 4 month playing deal until the end of the season, it's dragged on for 2 weeks now he either wants to sign or not.
