Jace Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Apparently the owners were so desperate to sign Kevin Phillips they cleared the 110 million debt owed by the club just to free up enough cash to allow him to join within FFP rulings. Some might say he is the worlds first 100 million pound striker...
yorkie1999 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Apparently he was allotted the shower between Lloyd Dyer and Jeff Schlupp and he refused to sign on the grounds psychological bullying and fear of a broken leg if one of them swung around too quickly.
Xen Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/11712/9117159/transfer-news-leicester-set-to-sign-veteran-striker-kevin-phillips Still doesn't say he's actually signed though, just that he's 'set to sign' - which has been being said for ages now. The bit about the debut at Leeds is interesting though. That implies that he's already signed (which the rest of the article doesn't say) and that he's match-fit, which I wasn't expecting for the first few fixtures...
Finnaldo Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Who is this guy anyway? Does anyone know if he is any good?
ealingfox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 This is just a really bad idea imo. I hate feeling negative about the things we do, but we don't need him whatsoever, it means a younger player is going to lose their spot on the bench, we will be tempted to bring him on in games where somebody else would be a better option, he isn't going to fit into our style of play very well, and the guy's FORTY FVCKING YEARS OLD FOR GOD'S SAKE. Now we have played them twice we should really let Derby have him, that way in the unlikely event he does any damage in the Championship this season it is quite unlikely to detriment us.
Nick Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 He's a last 15 minutes man in case we are behind in a game. If we are in front it'll more likely be GTF coming on as sub. He'll be good on the coaching team next year too. I think it's a good move not awe inspiring but solid, rational and unexciting........... and that seems to work for Nigel.

Finally, someone who sees sense! Been saying this all along what a waste of money. Hope it does fall through. Making his debut at Leeds? What, drop Vardy or Nugent to accommodate this oap? I bloody hope not.

Happy Fox Posted 15 January 2014 Author Posted 15 January 2014 John Percy â€@John__Percy 48s #lcfc have signed free agent Kevin Phillips on a short-term deal until the end of the season. 5th career promotion on the cards..?

And I doubt he'll feature at Leeds as he hasn't trained for nearly 2 weeks according to his blog.

lgfualol Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I was excited but I dont think he'll make a difference at all, unless he helps coach other strikers. I just think he'd get that spot on the bench and someone who doesnt necessarily deserve dropping will be dropped, i.e Wood.

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 He is better than Waghorn and I bet he'll pass on some of his experience to the strikers. Can't believe people think we could lose on this

Carl the Llama Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Carl Foster â€@CarlFoster89m @John__Percy how many players do they want, i hope they over spend and dont go up . Just
ealingfox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Coaching the other strikers (if they're prepared to listen to him) in finishing and mentality is the only thing he can really offer us. If he is here to mostly do that, then I accept it as decent business.
lgfualol Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Just saw someone saying "how can leicester keep buying everyone" and "theyre going to be screwed by FFP". This is why Twitter is bad.
lgfualol Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 It's weird that he looks younger than Gary Taylor fletcher but is 8 years older.
Dan Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 It's official, Harry Redknapp has the best ITK transfer ratio on the whole site.
