Corky Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 We need him here for February! He's played against Watford 10 times, scored 9! Ipswich 13 times, scored 9! Fvcking hell, with Nugent's records against those clubs and the amount of penalties we get we could win both about 8-0.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 What is going on?! He's signing, don't worry, but he's banned for 3 games as he called a cashier in the Fanstore a "f**king idiot f**kface" (in the presence of a newborn baby) just after his medical at the weekend - Phillips claiming he was seeking shelter and the Fanstore employee turned off the heater. So he's filling his time this weekend by appearing on Sky and flogging those crappy knock-off scarves with the Simpsons on them.
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 To be honest it's getting to the point that the honeymoon period is running dry, if he doesnt stop dragging this "MASSIVE HUGE TRANSFER" out, I don't think I will be bothered if he comes or not... At the moment it feels a bit like novelty.. Getting bored of it now...
ashfosse Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 this will be a signing for the dressing room/ training ground if it happens. yes we have 4-5 first team strikers but to have an experienced and good professional like phillips in the dressing room and in particular on the training ground will be a great asset. young players, in particular vardy, can learn from him and improve. not to mention he can score the odd goal...

Phillips brain and vardy's body, Can you imagine....
LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Phillips brain and vardy's body, Can you imagine....And Mahrez's hair?
MGLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 What I don't understand is 'If he was released by Palace 2 weeks ago, but couldn't sign for any club until Sunday' surely all the preliminaries could have been sorted out during that interim period. I fully expected this to have been a closed thread by yesterday - I don't get why there is a delay?
Simonb Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Phillips brain and vardy's body, Can you imagine.... vardys not that young for a striker... 27 ... shud be in his prime now... which i think he is reaching What I don't understand is 'If he was released by Palace 2 weeks ago, but couldn't sign for any club until Sunday' surely all the preliminaries could have been sorted out during that interim period. I fully expected this to have been a closed thread by yesterday - I don't get why there is a delay? its probably all sorted, but he's got other commitments so until they have time to do a press conference etc, theyll try and keep it a mystery
MGLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 But I don't know why it has to be a mystery - A statement like Kevin Phillips to sign on Wednesday - The paper work can already be done and a date issued when the press conference is. It can't be that difficult
suffolk fox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 It won't be announced on Thursday either as it is pension day and Phillips has to queue at the post office like everyone else!
Happy Fox Posted 14 January 2014 Author Posted 14 January 2014 I think NP is after a better striker me thinks.
sylofox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I think NP is after a better striker me thinks. You won't get a better striker out side the prem. But you may get a younger up and coming striker. Or someone fitter.
Jobyfox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I’m not claiming to be an ITK as I’m definitely not. I do believe a likely scenario, however, is that we’ve offered the player a deal and he’s weighing it up against other options. In his case then why should he jump in at the start of the transfer window? It might be that he might attract a better offer from elsewhere in terms of finances or game time. It’s not like our position in the table will affect his decision as he’s unlikely to feature next year whatever the eventuality. In our case then it’s not worth offering more than a ‘take it or leave it’ deal. As others have stated this would be more of a ‘nice to have’ signing rather than an essential component of our squad. I wouldn’t mind him at all, but am also fairly ambivalent either way. The club should keep their options open in terms of what might be available if this bid fails.
MGLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Fair enough Joby, but I thought he said on the TV last week that he had come to a decision. Whilst I respect his right to take his time, he's had over two weeks to think this through.
damolcfc Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 getting bored now. agree with 'would be nice to have' rather than'need'
Eddy Kellys Heroes Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I'd like to think we are considering better options before committing due to ffp?
andog Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Well he's been in Derby today signing Derby shirts, apparently his son plays for the Derby Academy though?
Happy Fox Posted 14 January 2014 Author Posted 14 January 2014 Supposedly interested in Carlton Cole now.
berniethebolt Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Son definatley plays for the Derby academy, he is there most weeks so I'm not reading anything into that.
Babylon Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Supposedly interested in Carlton Cole now.Thought he was brilliant against us for West Ham when they played down here a couple of years ago. If he can still perform like that I'd have him in a heartbeat.
MGLCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 3 things Is CC mobile enough for our style of play? Can we afford to or want to pay his wages? Is he the big name Charlie that could upset the group? Whilst it would be useful to have a decent big target man, not sure CC is the answer.
andog Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Is he the big name Charlie that could upset the group? We've certainly seen a fair few of those in recent years. I don't think I'd want him at Leicester in all honesty. When I've seen him play he's reminded me of Beckford, half hearted.
