Kasper a doubt for Stoke

We're out then.

I saw at the thread title the last poster "Dan LCFC" and thought,

Ahh, an insightful opinion on conrad from Dan LCFC, and actually pictured your post before I saw it, saying you thought he was a good enough replacement for one game, and that it benefits the team in the long run if kasper is back for the next league match...

I came on, and saw this  :P

Has someone been tampering with Conrad's Wiki entry?

I quote:

"At the end of his loan, Logan returned to Leicester amidst rumours about a permanent move to Bristol Rovers, which ultimately never materialised. Conrad wept tears of joy that he was able to return to his beloved spot on the bench at Leicester City."

lol

I struggle to relate to his thinking. Surely some club at, say, L2 level would be interested in him, even if he had to take a pay cut. Surely, he'd prefer to be playing - and would want to gamble on his ability to perform well at that level, and maybe even move higher up the league if he proved himself? Apparently not...

I appreciate that, in the short term, he'd earn more staying where he is, but does he not have a sense of pride in achieving the most he can as a footballer? Maybe he's made a hard-headed calculation that he's not good enough to earn as much playing as he does spending his career on the bench at Leicester? Maybe, though, I'm being unfair - after all, I haven't achieved as much as I could have done professionally, in theory, and am quite content with that situation as I've done alright and get pleasure in other areas of my life. How many of us push ourselves to the max in our chosen careers?

Like most, quite happy to see him play the odd game but not an extended run. He'll make more mistakes than Kasper but that'll probably have almost zero impact over 1 or 2 games.

People have different motivations at all levels of football and while game time is normally near the top of most people's priorities sometimes there things certain people will view as more important, being played in a certain position or chance of walking away with silverware, location of club, who else plays there etc.

Often in the professional game, and in Conrad's case, it is money and it is hard to fault it is not like he'd be taking a pay cut form £50,000 down to £20,000 to play games the lad doesn't earn silly money. A grand, a grand and a half, is a very good wage for me or you but for a footballer who is going to have to retire in his late 30's, it's not fantastic if you waste it. Here, he is probably on about 2, two and a half grand, probably £500-£1500 a week more than he'd get elsewhere. If he wants to stay here train throughout the week and sit on the bench safe in the knowledge he's a last resort and pick up his pay cheque and save that extra money he gets every week towards his future, fair play to the lad he wont get any criticism from me for that. It's sensible and obviously what he wants.

What he will get is criticism for being wank but that's a different story.

lol to be fair I wasn't entirely serious. I don't think he's good enough personally but if we lose I don't think it'll be entirely down to him.

He definitely blew it last time he played though against West Brom.

Good luck to him I guess. The FA Cup's always had funny things like this happen. Conrad Logan master class keeps Leicester in the cup following a 0-1 win at Stoke...

I can't be arsed to quote it but Lee shows himself up even more showing he knows SWEET FA about football. The reason Conrad is so important to the squad is that he knows he's never going to start aside from injury to Kasper but he doesn't rock the boat. He turns up to training everyday, trains hard and occasionally goes out on loan to keep himself sharp. Good banter around the squad and does everything he can to make sure that Kasper is 100% come match day. You can't have a full squad of 25 that think they are world beaters and deserve to start every game.

Every team needs someone like Conrad, if we had a backup player that wanted to play everyweek it'd possibly upset the apple cart and ruin the morale and work ethic that we have.

Conrad isn't the best keeper in the world but he is decent backup and a decent professional.

I think I am not the only one that thinks you absolute FA about football....

Can you please tell me what you expect from a no 2 keeper then? You don't want a billy big bollocks youngest, you don't want a Conrad, just what do you want considering our cash issues ?

Conrad is ok and I for one would go to his testimonial if he gets one.

Yeh.

I love a bit of Conrad banter as much as the next City fan but if it's one game in the FA Cup I'm not worried. He's capable of being solid enough in one off games, and if he cocks up it's not the end of the world.

OMG ....please don't offer some kind of support for OUR reserve keeper ffs !!!

You'll upset the bloody fickle moaning idiots on here who have been starved of their usual fodder for the majority of this season !

Squad players like Conrad are invaluable and a major asset, so agree with your remarks about him.

Good don't want us to win anyway.

League is far more important this season, as long as he's back for Derby then it's all good.

everyone loves a cup run, it boosts the players moral IMO

He is pretty poor to be fair. Last time I saw him was U21 v Liverpool, where it was obvious from where I was sitting that the wall he put in place was dreadful.

I was sitting with an ex player and his comment was "what the hell was he thinking of"

If he plays tomorrow and it looks like Kasper would not be ready for Derby, I would go in the loan market without question .

Not being funny, but looking at that picture shows he didnt exactly prepare himself as a professional a few years ago.

I remember him last time he had a run and he was dreadful.

Division 2 keeper at best, and I think he knows it. Hence him staying here and picking up a better salary for doing nothing, rather than getting found out at a lower league club.

I support our players generally, but never ever seen anything from him that would suggest he would ever play in the first team these days.

For all we know, Conrad might have stumbled across and unlocked the secrets of goalkeeping since his last match. We might have had the world's greatest 'keeper sitting on the bench.

On the other hand, if you're reading this Nige I'd like to point out that I was my Cub and Scout troops 5-a-side keeper and once saved 3 of 5 penalties in a cup final shootout, and I will be available for selection tomorrow.
