Guest MattP Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 No one thinks we are already promoted. I am convinced this side has what it takes for promotion though and I think we are going to do it.
Jace Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I think we are already promoted, who wants a promotion party next game to celebrate?
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 And 18 points from now would still put us in a good position for automatics. Stop trying to make things look bad when we're in a very good position. Be extremely lucky to get up in the autos with 81. 85 minimum I reckon, which we should still do fairly easily 7 wins 2 draws from 18 games
Mark_from_USA Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I'll say it again. The difference this year is that Leicester can go out on the front foot and play to win every game, because they are comfortably ahead. In any sport when you stop playing aggressive and start trying to protect your position is when others can come back on you. Last year Leicester tried to ride its defensive record (they were strong, like QPR this year) into the end. They only started doing better when they opened up their attack. and began scoring again right at the end, toward the Bolton and Brum games. This year the strategy is to go full out to win every match. There is no sign of retreating into a defensive shell. Look at their signings - all attack minded players. Its clear this is Pearson's strategy and evaluation of the best strength of his team and, guess what, its working brilliantly. And his defense is starting to come around as well. That's why, barring a couple of key injuries or something, their promotion is very, very likely this time. Their strategy is not likely to result in a collapse. Its more likely to result in them going up as Champions with 100 points or more, which is what their current returns suggest. A stellar season by any measure that people would look back on proudly.
davieG Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Leicester City feel like they can win every game but they will not become over confident, midfielder Matty James has said. City broke the club record for consecutive league wins on Tuesday night when they beat Birmingham at St Andrew’s to make it eight victories on the trot. James admits the self-belief is flowing through the side. However, he said all the players know they still have a long way to go to clinch promotion. “We have to keep it going and not get too carried away,†said James. “We know it is close but there are a lot of games to go. There could be a few turning points but, if we keep doing what we are doing, it will be great. “I wouldn’t say we feel unbeatable but we are going into games with a lot of confidence. “We feel that no matter what happens in a game, whether we go one or two behind, we always feel we can rectify it. “In recent weeks, we have been very hard to score against and we wanted to keep another clean sheet at Birmingham. “These Tuesday nights have been key. Last season we lost quite a few of these. “Birmingham had been unbeaten in 10 games recently and they have a youthful, energetic team. It was a good win. “We have shown how experienced we are now. We know when to pass and when to come together and dig in.†City have beaten some in-form sides during their current impressive run, and James said the players were proud of breaking club records. “We have faced some good sides and put their runs to an end,†he said. “Middlesbrough and Derby were on good runs. We have played some big teams and beaten them. “It is great if we are breaking records. It is a great group of lads and staff. “Everyone is enjoying their football. Even the lads who aren’t getting a lot of football have been fantastic on the bench. “We have a great team ethic. We have a lot of competition for places. “Although it is going well now and we have won eight on the bounce, it can soon change and you will find yourself out of the team.†Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/feel-unbeatable-says-Leicester-City-midfielder/story-20520741-detail/story.html#ixzz2rnZlCgKx
XLM Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 You do realise that football is supposed to be about enjoyment and entertainment. If you cannot enjoy the present run you will literally never enjoy football. I know some people get carried away but that is kind of the point of being a football fan really. X Completely agree with this. I've said before, we shouldn't be counting our chickens but what's the point of not making the most of the fact that we're top of the table and have won 8 on the spin?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 How can a presumption be based on a fact? Anyway, that wasn't really my point. He's moaning that others are being presumptuous yet doing so himself? I'm taking one game at a time personally. I know full well things could go wrong. But that said I am optimistic that we will do it. Yes, perhaps presumption wasn't the right word but, for me, it's pretty simple: If we look at what we definitely have (63 points) and base any expectation on the fact that that's what we have and nothing more, then we have no reason to get ahead of ourselves or set ourselves up for a disappointment. If we start thinking we're definitely going to get promotion because of what we've done so far, or looking at previous points tallies and averages, then what do we really gain? A bit of excitement that it looks like we're going up but we've not actually done so yet?! I just don't see what the point is! We look good this year, we're doing unprecedented things, we have a good squad and manager, but we also only have 63 points so far. People are talking about enjoying the moment but a lot of people are looking past the moment currently (Ian Stringer included). Enjoy what we're doing, have an idea of what it might take for us to finish the job but enjoy the process towards doing that and stop proclaiming that the job is finished or that it's definitely going to happen because there are just too many variables.
RumbleFox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Completely agree with this. I've said before, we shouldn't be counting our chickens but what's the point of not making the most of the fact that we're top of the table and have won 8 on the spin? Cheers It does perplex me though that some folk like to constantly highlight the negatives. Life in general can be dull and harsh as well as wonderful. Football is like the cinema or music. It is a form of escapism and joy. Yes it also can make you angry and depressed but really, I will just highlight what I said before: If youn cannot enjoy the current run (The best in our entire history ever!) you will literally NEVER enjoy football and you might as well not bother. I am not saying we will definitely get promoted just that I am enjoying the way we are playing and where we are at the moment. Up the foxes!! Rumble. X
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Man am I having trouble keeping the fat lady quite !!!!!
harpendenfox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The thing this season is the consistency. We've lost the odd game, and lost two in a row in December, but bounced back quickly. Last season we had great bursts (namely two bursts of five wins) followed by pretty shaky form. Even during last January's five game winning run we looked shaky against Boro and Wolves (remember them?). None of us think the job is done, lord knows what tomorrow will bring, but my goodness it is rather wonderful to be a Leicester City fan at the moment. Happy times
Benji Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 We have one of these threads after every win. Who cares - so long as the players don't get complacent I'm not bothered what the fans think. In fact, why not enjoy winning - it's been a long time coming. If you're going to sit worrying about what's the worst that can happen so you can say 'I told you so' then you're following football for the wrong reasons. Enjoy being entertained while it lasts because let's face it, IF we do go up, we won't be winning 8 in a row next season.
Onions Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Those who are pessimistic, just lay us on betfair to get promoted....... Least it's a decent return if we got somehow **** this up
Corky Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 In fairness, I don't think it's actually the fans themselves who've been that bad, it's more so Stringer & Young coming out with completely outlandish statements - presumably to provoke more callers. "Aah'm so confident in Craig Pearson that we'll go three years unbeaten, Ian".

Guest Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Okay okay everyone we are there. We are promoted already! We're in the promised land with 63 points. Lowest points tally ever to get promoted !!! Wooooooo. Idiots. Your posts are the most idiotic things in this thread. Go back to your hole and let people be excited.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I think we are going up. Look Mark w!!.... I just don't see a capitulation like last season. The squad is strong and its just got that swagger about it that suggests real confidence. Fookin Brill!!
Steven Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Man am I having trouble keeping the fat lady quite !!!!! Get off her then.
sylofox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 We are not mathematically safe from relegation yet. So who is thinking about going up?
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Get a divorce I would but I need her to drive me at the moment
