Mark_from_USA Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 We are not mathematically safe from relegation yet. So who is thinking about going up? I'm more interested to see if Blackpool can fall all the way to the drop zone. They are sinking like a stone.
bluesbrothers Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The difference for me this year is the strength of the bench. Apart from Schlupp, who has been pretty average this year but not by any means terrible, I trust every single one of our substitutes to come on and do a job in whatever circumstances are presented to them.Taylor Fletcher and Phillips provide solid experience up front - while we've not seen much of the latter yet, GTF has certainly proven the doubters wrong - his ability to hold the ball up and pick out a pass is brilliant. Phillips showed at Leeds his intelligent reading of the game - he won us 2 points in his first 10 minutes as a city player, and I trust him to do it again throughout the season, whether that's scoring himself or setting up others.EDIT: Missed one! A fit Chris Wood is brilliant, so long as our team doesn't try to whip high balls to him and get it to his feet instead - I personally see him as a technical player despite his build, and he knows where the goal is too. Considering how lightweight our central midfield has looked in past seasons, the fact that DD and Matty are looking so solid this season and we're still able to bring on players of the calibre of King and Hammond to shore up if needs be (and in the case of the former, contribute to attack; again, King played a key part in the build up to the Leeds goal) must make us the envy of the championship, and maybe the odd premier league team to boot. Then the wingers - Knocky is probably our most inconsistent player this season, but when he's good, he's unplayable. Dyer on the other hand is a machine - easily the best season he's ever had, and hopefully if we reach the promised land he'll get a proper go at some Premiership defenses. Considering that Fulham are the standard of team we need to be expecting to beat to stay in the league, the fact he tore their first-team defense to shreds says everything about his potential as a PL player, even in the twilight of his career.Got a bit sidetracked there, but the point I'd make is that Mahrez, from the glimpses we've seen, is a bloody magic player - case in point, the pinpoint pass for Vardy's goal yesterday and his trickery against Middlesborough - being able to bring on a player of his ilk is ridiculously exciting, and I trust he will come good.Defensively, Wasilewski has his critics, but following Moore's injury has played a key part in two solid defensive displays. I still agree that he's wasted at right back, but he's a rock in defense - but again, he's second choice behind Liam. Then there's Miguel, who again is solid enough, and probably does a better job as a full back than Was, but who again wouldn't get in ahead of our first IV in defense at present. As a sidenote, I have to defend Konchesky, who gets a lot of undeserved stick. I'll admit he had a mare against Leeds, and has a habit of occasionally misplacing passes, but he has been a rock all season and seems to have an extra yard of pace this season for attacking play. His interplay with Dyer down the left is probably THE biggest reason we've already scored 50 goals this season, and long may it continue. If the dream comes good, I'd say we need one more right winger and a left back to compete in the Prem and consolidate a place. Honestly speaking, this team is good enough to hold its own in the PL, and frankly, the lot of them, first XI and subs, deserve a go at the top division.
purpleronnie Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I doubt any Leicester fan thinks the automatic promotion is alreay a given, this is Leicester City its rarely easy or straight forward. But let's enjoy it things are going well.
Bert Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 All we need is 2 more wins then we can lose the next 16 to be guaranteed a play off place Well that's certainly wrong.
Jace Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Gutted we won't be in the play offs this year, can't believe we are going to go another season without playing at the newish Wembley
oxford blue Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 bluesbrothers above makes some good points. However, if any one player deserves a special mention, I think it has to be Vardy. He has been superb (my player of the season so far); apart from goals scored, penalties won, his pace has constantly troubled defenders. And he always harries opposition defenders when they have the ball. His control is so much improved and I think this gives him the confidence that was lacking in his first season here.
seenitall Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Now who's being miserable - even a naysayer like me can see this lot going up now - Pearson is becoming the manager the soothsayers said he would - genius manager genius team and it seems genius fans (not me) shame we had to put up with so much shite for the past four years to get to this level but credit where it's due and if they screw it up from here sell the lot at the end of the season
Spudulike Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Not completely sure if I heard correctly but Stringer said last night that only Reading in 2006 season had more points than us at this stage since the Championship was formed. That was the year they got the record 106 points.

Mark_from_USA Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Not completely sure if I heard correctly but Stringer said last night that only Reading in 2006 season had more points than us at this stage since the Championship was formed. That was the year they got the record 106 points. Leicester's points return is 2.25 per game. They are on course for 103 points right now. If they finish 11 wins, 4 draws, 3 defeats, that's 100 points. I think they should set a team goal of finishing as champions with 100 or more points. If they set that standard for themselves and achieve it, they and the fans will be able to look back at a historic year.
Steven Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 NOTHING CAN GO WRONG NOW Everything can go wrong but probably won't.
MooseBreath Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Hopefully we don't get another tosser making a thread like this one a year ago tomorrow http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/85918-almost-the-easiest-looking-ten-games-possible-coming-up/page-2
Littletoe Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Enjoy the moment and the current run of form, you don't know where it might take us. If you want to win ANY Championship, you leave NO room for doubt. Fair comments about being complacent, but we have been here before and learnt a harsh lesson against Watford last year. This Leicester squad, is without doubt one of the strongest in the league and we are proving it. Don't be a Buzz Killer!!!
fuchsntf Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 You do realise that football is supposed to be about enjoyment and entertainment. If you cannot enjoy the present run you will literally never enjoy football. I know some people get carried away but that is kind of the point of being a football fan really. XThats the truth..!!*. I Posted on several negative threads, the same vibes.Great to see, that I am not alone, thought I was fighting a losing battle. Like TV soaps, some guys n gals actual lives revolve around 3rd party antics, or results.Yes One can get emotional, in your own sports, or as a supporter, but there are your own paths in life, where one will have more tears and laughter, more importantly you can change, steer and drive, plus there are no substitutes.

Steven Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Peter Beagrie has just said on Sky FL review that we are nailed on and that the rest are fighting for one automatic place. Certain to finish seventh then.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Does anyone know whether the bookies have stopped taking bets on us going up? When they do, then its pretty much nailed on.
