Kitchandro Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 cheddar cheese, golden syrup, muscovado sugar. A variation on the inferior Jamie Oliver idea.
CKB Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Marmite cheese crackers, microwave 15 seconds. you will not be disappointed. That actually sounds lovely, gonna try that in abit
Carl the Llama Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Mushrooms fried in a dash or two of soy sauce. Can be had as part of a fry-up, as a burger topping, on toast, in a sandwich, whatever. Also: Lea & Perrins in baked beans. While it's heating up skewer a hole in a potato, chuck it in the microwave on full for 4-10 minutes depending on potato size/microwave strength, cut it open, and pour the beans inside. Top with Red Leicester or your preferred cheese. Finally: Bacon and avocado sandwiches. Lived off them at uni: First get 2 slices of toast and some bacon on the go. Then take half avocado cut straight down the middle then holding it in one hand, criss-cross it with your knife keeping the skin intact(this is very important). Chuck some mayonnaise and pepper on the toast then grab the avocado and push it inside out so the cubed pieces of avocado drop straight out onto the toast without leaving green crap all over your hands, top with the bacon, et voila.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Crumpet pizzas - toast crumpets bottom up, add tomato puree (a good thick ketchup can be an inferior substitute at a push) to the top, grate some cheese and bung back under the grill. You can add a bit of tuna or ham if you like, a dash of Worcestershire Sauce. Whatever takes your fancy!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 I'm wondering how it might be if I substituted weetabix for the crumpets....

Unabomber Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Continuing with the crumpet theme, beat some eggs in a bowl and add some finally chopped chilli, add the crumpets and allow them to soak up as much of the egg as possible. Fry them on a medium heat until the egg is cooked through, then add any left over egg to the pan and scramble that and then top the crumpets with it.
Merging Cultures Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Meh, none of this is very weird. Bacon yum Super noodles yum Toast yum Melted cheese yum I was expecting deep fried tarantulas or balut. Two things I refused to eat.
Beliall Posted 10 February 2014 Author Posted 10 February 2014 well i heard on the radio someone used to eat vinegar, gravy granuals and sugar sandwiches. hows that for wierd?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Luther Burgers Use a glazed or sugar ring doughnut in place of a bap next time you are barbecuing burgers, it's mind-blowing. Add ketchup and cheese to suit, don't bother with salad though. Tip - try Morrisons frozen New Yorker burgers (with gherkin pieces in the patty), something magic happens when combined with the doughnut. Marmalade roast pork Something a bit more conventional - coat a pork joint in marmalade, then roast as normal. Works brilliantly. Heart-attack Pancakes Melt 1 bar of Caramac, 1 bar of Galaxy and about 50g of salted butter, mix together and serve over hot pancakes. Terry's Chocolate Orange Toasties Make toasties using segments of Chocolate Orange instead of cheese. Caution: bloody hot. Mexican Toasties Make toasties using Mexicana cheddar, soft avocado (or guacamole), rocket leaves and tabasco sauce Waffle Butty Oven cook Bird's Eye Potato Waffles until 5 minutes before time. Then add a large handful of grated mature cheddar to each waffle and cook until cheese is gooey and crispy around the edge. Add to sandwiches and stuff your greasy face.

Merging Cultures Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Jam and cheese sandwiches. I first had it in Norway, jam with a brown sticky cheese. It's fantastic. Might have some now actually.

Not sure about brown, sticky cheese but used to eat jam and cheese sarnies all the time, loads of racing cyclists used to carry some when training. Now most poseurs prefer pay a quid for a small plastic pouch of sickly goo.
