Time to take Burnley seriously?

Alright, winning against Bolton isn't too hard lately, but I along with many thought that Burnley would have dropped off the pace by now but I actually am starting to believe they're now more of a threat then QPR. Firmly believe that without Austin, QPR are now an average mid table/top 6 team.

Also, I was certain Danny Ings' form would drop by now but there's no sign of this whatsoever. I know we're still 8 points clear and this isn't a thread to say that I'm sure they'll catch us but am I the only one that thinks they'll be looking to topple us from now?

I also thought they'd just be a flash in the pan side but fair play to them. They have grinded out results away from home and looked positive at home, much like ourselves. We can afford for one team to catch us up so long as it's just the one.

Good luck to them but im sure we'll be fine

I'd rather be in our position than theirs. Worrying about any of the teams below won't achieve anything. All we can do is keep picking up points faster than they do.

They already are dropping off the title pace they, us and QPR set at the start of the season. The reason they look like they aren't is because QPR have dropped off in form also

We have kept up the same pace, and Derby and Forest have now joined us. Hence why we have moved ahead of Burnley, and Forest and Derby have closed up to them so much.

Whilst clearly you can't discount them or QPR entirely as form can change quickly (I actually hope Burnley go up with us), they need to find early season form again or they might start being over taken.

I see them as a huge threat in our promotion push. After their start to the season I doubted that they'd be able to maintain their good form. But, you cannot rule out QPR though. Still think QPR won't get promoted and I can see the Clarets going up.

People who weren't taking them serious are foolish surely? My opinion of them enhanced after seeing their performance at QPR on tv. They attacked straight from kick off, and that was the mind set of the game.

As clichéd as it sounds, we have to focus on us and not what every one else is doing. We're in a position now that not many thought we would be in, this time last year. All we can do is try to keep winning and the rest will fall in place.

I said they'd drop off after about 10-15 games. Since then they have made me change my opinion. Don't feel too foolish, hindsight is a wonderful thing

I too thought they'd drop away and that Ings would dry up. Think I'd have to say I was wrong!

The other thing is that getting to this stage of the season and being where they are will be a massive boost for them. There were probably even people in that club/team who doubted that they were in the automatic promotion mix-up for the long haul but now that the finishing line is just about in sight they'll firmly believe they can challenge.

I just hope that we are far enough away from them come the end of March that our match at their place doesn't have the potential to affect things too much.

They'll be fine unless they lose one of the strikers, especially Ings, to injury. Then they'll struggle imo.

Our strength in depth has made a big difference this season and will continue to do so.

Define fine? In current form around the top end of the table they will end up 5th.

Fine as in pushing for top two.

I know you think they'll falter, or are doing? Not sure how you work that out but I'll go with it.

It's obvious how I work that out. They were ahead of us, and were way clear of Forest and Derby... now they aren't.

They remind me of us last season.

Anyone who hasn't been taking them seriously needs their head checking. It's been obvious for a while that they're going to be up there.

Tbh I didn't think Burnley or derby would stick around for long at all but I think after seeing them play both play qpr recently (all be it derbys goal was lucky, and qpr were rubbish) I don't think you can discount them.

Good point, well made. I am convinced by stats. I also agree that if they find that form again then they can go up (maybe this is their blip) but we will see.

I think they are going to be fighting Derby, Forest and QPR for an automatic spot, down to the end, barring an injury to their key guys.  They will get a lot of draws and few losses.  Nobody will want to play them, because they are disciplined and consistent every match.

City, on the other hand, just need to worry about themselves, and they will be fine.

We are in the best position but I've took Burnley seriously for most of the season. Not the best footballing side but effective in the way they get results.
