KIRBYFOX93 Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Why do we not score from them? We have so many just wes or Wazzer never get near them. Liam moore always looks a threat, but wes has a shocking record for how strong and how good is he at open play heading. I refuse to believe its the delivery because it always looks dangerous. I would have wes at front post for the flick on and moore for the nod in... What do you lot think? Wes morgan header vs forest would be a fish slap on the face for me haha!! Up the blues

Up the blues We can't just have one option from corners. That'll get easily sussed out. I think as long as we're scoring other types of goals in-play, this doesn't really faze me. We're the second highest goal-scorers in the league. Lack of goals from corners doesn't concern me at the moment.
leicesterisme Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 If you watch Liam Moore he will always start his run on the edge of the box and if he does head the ball it will be with power. Wes is usually pretty static when the ball is delivered which makes it very difficult to get any power behind the header.
Kitchandro Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 We never have anyone attacking the near post. We rarely have anyone attacking the back post. We aren't very good at heading. We don't attack the ball like we expect to score.
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Whenever I watch us Wasyl gets his head to quite a few corners. It's just his headers end up either in the crowd or by the corner flag.
Stadt Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Lack of Bruno Berner = lack of goals from corners.
DennisNedry Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Wes never wins attacking headers. Moore rarely does, but when he does he is decent. Was wins the odd header but can never direct them.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 I've never known a side to score regularly from corners to be honest. They're too easy to defend against.
Unabomber Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Scoring from corners is boring, we score from penalties or from good football moves.
Bert Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 I even think the last goal we got from a corner was an OG! I'm probably wrong though, been a long day!
The Doctor Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 I've never known a side to score regularly from corners to be honest. They're too easy to defend against. O'Neills side? Walsh,Taggs & Elliott had a fair few in them
Harry - LCFC Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Corners are so unexciting. Seems that no-one is able to score from them these days, would be interesting to see if we were any worse than others statistically. I suspect we aren't as bad as people think.

The big problem these days, even if the goalkeeper gets a little tap the ref blows for a free kick.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Even at the highest levels of the game corners are poor. I just don't think they're considered important in the modern game
Foxy harry Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 I even think the last goal we got from a corner was an OG! I'm probably wrong though, been a long day!wasnt it Moore v wigan
cityfanlee23 Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Wes never wins attacking headers. Moore rarely does, but when he does he hits the bar Was wins the odd header but can never direct them. Edited that for you
Deucalion Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Why don't we put the ball into open play from the corner?
chickentown fox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Poor delivery most of the time (sorry op)
Stuliasz Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 "The range is anywhere from 1 goal for every 36 to 70 corners attempted. Or, slightly less than 2% of corner kicks result in a goal." http://www.scienceofsocceronline.com/2010/12/corner-kicks-by-numbers.html
KIRBYFOX93 Posted 16 February 2014 Author Posted 16 February 2014 I don't really care You say you dont care but lets say we are promoted we need to be clinical if we want a chance to stay up , and corners seem to be a top priority tbh...

Harry - LCFC Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Charlton this season? Ugh, yeah that game. I was furious at our lot for making it so easy for them. Point taken though. The big problem these days, even if the goalkeeper gets a little tap the ref blows for a free kick. Very true. When the ref blows his whistle after a corner you can be sure it'll be in favour of the defending side. Definitely makes it harder.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 O'Neills side? Walsh,Taggs & Elliott had a fair few in them I remember this used to be a regular joke in our house at the time. The popular press always said we were dangerous from corners - but we failed to covert the vast majority of them. I suppose without any stats it's difficult to confirm but from memory it was even a myth in those days. Thinking about it though, it seems daft that people think they are such great attacking opportunities. Look at Fulham at OT the other week - defending crosses is easy for even mediocre defences. A lot of them were from open play as well - with a corner the defence even gets warning to settle and organise itself.
