Dan Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Vardy has stepped up yet another level in recent weeks IMO- he's now calm and ruthless infront of goal. His finish today was very classy. He's player of the season I agree with Col about Schlupp also. I've always thought he had something special, but he's often not showed it. He was very good today- far better than Konchesky in his distribution. Konch has been good this season, but his utter stupidity at Forest may cost him the shirt We didn't really need to play to our full potential even today. Not sure if its a sign of how good we are, or how poor Ipswich are. It was a bit like a training match I've been critical of Wasilewski, but he was my pick of the back 4 today. De Laet also back to his best It's a sign of how good we are that two of our most important attacking players Dyer and Knockaert are off form, and it doesn't matter. We have so much quality Agree whole heartedly as usual. I'm actually confident Vardy could step up to the Premier League and if someone had told me in February last year that I'd be saying that in twelve months I'd have absolutely laughed at them. He's become arguably our key asset.
Bert Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 First half, we were fantastic. Ipswich weren't really at the races but we were on another level and they're not even that bad a side. Some great individual performances but collectively it was even better. Took our foot off the gas second half but Ipswich still couldn't get into the game. A very thorough and professional performance.
Leicesterpool Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 The good news regarding next game against Charlton, is that Kermorgant is no longer at Charlton! Very true should be easy then!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Wanted a win, got a win!! can't ask for anything else! This
Filbert_Ross Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 I heard this nob say after the game that it was boring and it's a shame Ipswich didn't score to make it more interesting.
Dickov22 Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Agree whole heartedly as usual. I'm actually confident Vardy could step up to the Premier League and if someone had told me in February last year that I'd be saying that in twelve months I'd have absolutely laughed at them. He's become arguably our key asset. Yep, he's completely changed the way we play
CosbehFox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 2nd half was reversing energy, no point running around after a ball with a two goal lead. Some folk were screaming to attack.
theessexfox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Vardy was immense yesterday, tackled everything, harassed defenders, linked up player, won fouls and took his goal very well. Well worth his standing ovation he came off to. All of the back 4 were very good: CBs were solid, Schlupp looked comfortable filling in for Konch and De Laet had a very good game. All Schmeichel had to do was kick and he did that poorly. Drinky and James were very good, often with one sitting and the other breaking forward. Dyer was off the boil and Knocky was wasteful at times. Surprise surprise, Nuge got his goal against Ipswich and played well. Ipswich really are average, both home and away this season, though first half no one could have stood up to us. We were dominant first half and totally in command, scoring when we were on top too. Dropped off a bit second half but never really looked troubled. Saw Kasabian hanging around afterwards, got very drunk. Home support was very good, top attendance too. Great win
crisp packet Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Buisness end of the season . Another professional 3 points . Didn't really get out of third gear ? We roll on . 6 more (wins for promotion) I feel ... COYB !
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Comfortable win against an average side, I thought Vardy was immense, their defenders never had a moments peace, his energy and willingness to chase everything has had a huge impact on our season.
foxfanazer Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 How many goals this season have come from Vardy and Nuge chasing down defenders and goalkeepers
El Sieffsi Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Just wondering,if Wood was onside as Knockaert played him through at the final whistle?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Ipswich were never going to be up to much without a good holding midfielder like Jay-Emmanuel Thomas. He is destined for big things that chap
Corky Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Steady rather than spectacular, 3-0 was probably just about right on balance, they created very little and we were clinical with our chances. Vardy was superb, chasing everything and putting their keeper under constant pressure. Yes, the first goal was from a poor back pass but when you have players willing to chase and hassle they will make something from nothing and that's what Vardy did. Excellent work from Vardy then De Laet allowed Nugent to score his usual goal against Ipswich, which gave us a lot of comfort. The second half was a bit of a non-event, we were happy to sit on the lead and then break when required, which lead to the third, neat build up and Wood slotted home. Three points closer, one more game ticked off and even more encouragingly we can improve on that display. This season is a world away from last and the formidable central midfield partnership again showed their worth with a dominant performance that underlines their quality.
