ScouseFox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Win 3 home games, draw away and lose to Burnley. 11 pts. Very pessimistic because we should really be annihilating Barnsley and beating Blackburn too. I just can't bring myself to write 15 or 16 pts down.
Istilllovefilbert Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Maybe being pessimistic here, but I would rather be guaranteed a play off place (although 70 points is the usual benchmark) before I start thinking of auto promotion, let alone winning the championship. I cannot remember us ever being in a better position in this league at this stage, but I swear the term " a royal fvck up" stemmed from Leicester city. Having said that we will do the following Charlon draw Barnsley win Blackpool win Blackburn draw Yeovil win Burnley lose 11 points
foxes1988 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Charlon (WIN)Barnsley (WIN)Blackpool (LOSE)Blackburn (DRAW)Yeovil (WIN)Burnley (LOSE) Don't think we will win all 3 home games. I would be happy with 10 points from that. Leaves us with 81 points with with 8 to play We should aim for more though. I generally tend to be more pessimistic in predicting results.
Simonb Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Charlton - 4-0 W Barnsley - 2-1 W Blackpool - 3-0 W Blackburn - 1-2 L Yeovil - 3-0 W Burnley - 1-1 D 13 points - 84 points with 8 to play, leaving a point a game realistically needed... but i see no reason why we can't win the first 5 games and then go into burnley confident and snatch another win
lancyclaret Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It would really be the icing on the cake If we could be the first team to beat burnley at their place this season This would not be too bad - it would mean that we would be unbeaten against Derby, Leeds and Doncaster.
isleofwightfox Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 Considering the teams we are going to be up against next season if we do go up, I'm starting to think that getting 15 points before we meet Burnley is a necessity.
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Last year there was an obvious dip in form come March and wondered what peoples' predictions were of this year. Obviously we have a stronger squad than last season and a really exciting bench to look at at the beginning of each match. I've just had a second look at our fixtures for this month and have started thinking of where we need to be picking up points. Charlton - Home Barnsley - Away Blackpool - Home Blackburn - Away Yeovil - Home Burnley - Away It's not easy feat playing the whole relegation zone at this time of the year when they are really scrapping, but it would be nice to think that we would pick up those 9 points with our current squad (especially with Schlupp looking comfortable (hopefully) for the remainder of Konch's ban). That leaves Blackpool and Blackburn, from whom it would be an expectation to pick up about 4 points. Could we get ourselves into a position where the trip to Turf Moor is a not an essential win? I'd like to hear other peoples' thoughts Burnley away is obviously the one that stands out but I'm hoping the only other time we drop points is Blackburn away, We're playing the bottom 3 and Blackpool at home and they way we've been playing I can see us having way to much for all four of them even when visiting Oakwell. If we achieve that I should imagine the result at Turf Moor will be immaterial.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 This would not be too bad - it would mean that we would be unbeaten against Derby, Leeds and Doncaster. I'm hoping you go up with us
LanguedocFox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I think I am going to go for no points from any of those matches, and no goals scored apart from own goals. Given that I am wrong about everything, we should be OK.
CPW22 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Charlton - Win Barnsley - Draw Blackpool - Win Blackburn - Lose Yeovil - Win Burnley - Draw We should win all our home games but I expect the away days to be tough.
ADK Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 To get 107 or more we can afford 2 non-wins or 3 non-wins if we don't lose again out of 14 games to play. Personally I think it extremely unlikely we'll make it.
Nalis Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Charlton - Home LOSS Barnsley - Away WIN Blackpool - Home WIN Blackburn - Away DRAW Yeovil - Home WIN Burnley - Away DRAW 11pts, throwing in Charlton for a shock 2-1 home defeat. Draw v Burnley is prob worth as much as a win against anyone else as we take 2pts from them in the process.
LCCFox96 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I refuse to predict any games involving relegation tussling sides. Hate these games more than playing the better sides as we all know we should win them but you don't know what sort of performance a relegation side will put in. It's always either really good or very poor. One game at a time and keep this unbeaten run on the rails. A similar March to our Dec/Jan/Feb should out us nearly home and dry. But then this is the championship...
Zapp Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 why does everyone expect us to drop points against Blackburn?? their home form is hardly incredible do people just have to have us dropping points somewhere so we don't appear smug or confident we're already 1 game in to our record breaking 10 wins in a row ya know!
Dan Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Another winning run is on the way IMO. Leicester 3-0 Charlton Barnsley 1-2 Leicester Leicester 4-1 Blackpool Blackburn 0-1 Leicester Leicester 2-1 Yeovil Burnley 2-0 Leicester 5 wins and 1 loss - Burnley ending an 18 game unbeaten run that took us up to 86 points before April. I know it doesn't tend to work like this with Leicester, but I have every faith we'll maintain the professional job we've done all season. I'm not convinced Blackburn away is as hard as people are making it out to be. They're a decent side but nothing special, we've beaten better this year.
BrummieFOX Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Charlton - Home - Win Barnsley - Away - Win Blackpool - Home - Win Blackburn - Away - Draw Yeovil - Home - WIn Burnley - Away - Lose
Fox92 Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 I'd take 14 points, that includes draws at Blackburn and Burnley both of which are tough places to go. We've got the ability to win all of the home games.
Leicesterpool Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Home: Charlton- win 5-2 Away: Barnsley- win 4-0 Home: Blackpool- win 2-1 Away: Blackburn Rovers- lose 0-2 Home: Yeovil Town- Win 2-0 Away: Burnley- win 1-0 15 points to come!
Fox92 Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 This run up to Burnley is essential. Burnley have Derby, Blackburn (a), Birmingham (a), Leeds, Charlton (a) and Doncaster before we visit them. I make that 14 points (all wins with two draws against Derby and Blackburn), which would take them up to 77 before our game... I have a prediction of 13 points prior to the Burnley game, which means we'd have 84 points upon visiting Turf Moor. 7 clear. Avoid defeat at Burnley, meaning we'd still be 7 clear of second place/Burnley with 8 games (possible 24 points) left. Burnley would have 7 games (possible 21 points) remaining, meaning they could make 99 points exact... We'd need 14 points (4.6 games) to win the title itself. Still get the same result of QPR home/Bolton away time.
