Rob1742 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 After the Charlton game and results that went with it, I put that game as the one where promotion was virtually assured. However - being Champions is what we want and that is far from concluded. Seven points clear and a game in hand looks good. But, have you seen the run in. Burnley haven't got anyone to play really apart from ourselves and Reading. They do have Wigan but that is at home. The rest is all pretty easy for them. I always said the three N/W away matches would be crucial for us and that could be the case. Looking at the fixtures I now think this could go to the wire.
Stadt Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Nope, if we get a draw at Burnley then we are champions. Burnley can't afford to drop points like they did at Brum - they simply draw too many games.
shailen Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 We have got 38 points from the last 14 games, which is incredible...would be amazed if we dont finish as champions and gobsmacked if we don't get promoted
Monsell1976 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Fear nobody, the way I look at it, we have played every team once already and we are where we are because of how good we have been, good home and away, don't see any reason why we cannot maintain it till the end of the season.
mickygib Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Careful now. The powers of foxes talk dont take kindly to threads like this
Buzzell Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 We can still mess this up but it's very unlikely. With the run we're on, I just can't see us dropping many points. If we fail to gain automatic promotion, even becoming champions, then it will be one of the biggest fvck ups in football history.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 The leauge title, a 100 points and goals would be nice, all of which are possible. Where as we do have a few tricky games we also have a healthy lead, it's ours for the taking and the fat lady is in full rehearsals now singing WE ARE GOONG UP
Donut Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Promotion is guaranteed. The title is all but guaranteed.

indierich06 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Hope the squad and the manager don't have the same attitude as you lot. Promotion isn't guarenteed until it's guarenteed. This job is far from over, and thankfully Pearson seems to recognise that in every post-match interview he gives. Yes, we're very well placed, but a couple of key injuries and a few losses on the spin could see us right back in the mix.
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Burnley should have beaten Birmingham last night. Anything can happen in this league, especially against the lower teams. Trying to second guess how it will happen is impossible.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 For it to go to the wire we'd have to have a pretty major collapse in form and burnley would have to not drop many more points
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 "Burnley haven't got anyone to play really apart from ourselves and reading" Poppycock

Could be just a precaution but if he is out for 'X' amount of games then that makes keeping up there unbeaten run just a little bit harder

Your right to say nothing's guaranteed but with 5 games in hand on third it will take more than a few loses, even if we lose to Wigan, QPR , Reading and Burnley we would still be second. That's how good a position we are in and kasper getting injured is the only worry.
shade Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 "Burnley haven't got anyone to play really apart from ourselves and reading" Poppycock do they play them home or away?

I love the way Pearson keeps his cool, and I'm sure he's doing that with the team before and during every match. Go out, play to our strengths, never give up, win the game. Then on to the next one. I'm getting more and more excited about this season, but until we have (P) and then (-C-) after our name, I can't begin to think sensibly about next season.
Fox92 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 do they play them home or away? They play Reading away last game of the season.
Mark_from_USA Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Will people please give City some credit for what they are doing? Looking at the fixtures I now think this could go to the wire. Yes, we're very well placed, but a couple of key injuries and a few losses on the spin could see us right back in the mix. What sign has City shown in the past year that this is even possible? They could lose every game they have lost in the Championship since last year's Barnsley game almost a year ago and still get promoted comfortably. Your right to say nothing's guaranteed but with 5 games in hand on third it will take more than a few loses, even if we lose to Wigan, QPR, Reading and Burnley we would still be second. That's how good a position we are in and kasper getting injured is the only worry. Why? He's had fewer saves to make in the past few games than Leicester have scored goals. That's a pretty solid formula.if you ask me. I'm getting more and more excited about this season, but until we have (P) and then (-C-) after our name, I can't begin to think sensibly about next season. I guarantee Pearson and co are already thinking about next season, and how what they do on the pitch and in the back office now will affect it. They had better be. Their objective is to establish Leicester in the PL. We want to be everything Cardiff isn't. That's what they are going to be looking at.
bovril Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 It would be nice to win the football league for the first time in our history.

I don't think anyone is failing to give the owners and NP credit for what they are doing, but that has nothing to do with being balanced in our views, and aware that we still have 12 games to play. There's absolutely no doubt that Pearson and his team are thinking about being in the Premiership, but his public comments are very balanced and guarded, and I think the fans should be the same. For my money, this is the way we should talk: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11713/9208740/championship-leicester-boss-nigel-pearson-preaching-caution-after-win. It's about pride rather than arrogance: we aren't Champions yet, but we are well on the way if we keep playing like we have the past three months. Mind you, I do like this comment: Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is relieved his side do not have to play Leicester again this season, saying: "Thank f*** for that." He'd love to play Florist again, though.

No. Their objective is to get Leicester promoted first and foremost - something which they haven't done yet. Yes, they've done a great job, and yes they should be able to finish the job off, but we're not there yet and there are still plenty of games to play and our focus should be solely on making sure we finish this season as strongly as possible. I'm sure that Pearson will have plans for next season, but I can absolutely guarentee that he won't be taking promotion as a given.
