Stadt Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Lloyd was praised by everybody when he was playing, whilst Mahrez is playing well it doesn't matter if Lloyd is out or not - we've not forgotten about Lloyd, we are simply praising a young player with lots of potential who has slotted in with ease. It's like saying we can't praise Drinkwater because King played well at the start of the season.

Drinkwater started with King in the early season and has been pretty much ever-present since. Mahrez looks a talent. But I'd like to see Lloyd back, increasing the competition for that position and because Dyer still has something to offer this season. Any news of his return appreciated.
Babylon Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Read thru the threads. I don't think there has been much mention of Lloyd? Very few seem to be asking when he'll be back again or the extent of his injury. This surprises me. He's been superb for this club. Mahrez yesterday wasn't as good was he? Or did I make that up? I'd like to see Lloyd back in contention and yes, for footballing reasons naturally. Perhaps that's because we haven't missed him?

You want Lloyd back in the regardless of how well Mahrez has done in the last few games? Â Pearson's already made it clear that if you perform well, you keep your spot. Â What kind of a message do you think it would send if Pearson forsook that to play Lloyd?
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Mahrez was utter pants in the first half today. He improved in the second. There were glimpses of quality but as I said, he's young and will blow hot and cold. Tonight... very cold. Give him time boys before you claim he's a class act.

Corky Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Yaaaaawn. Â It's ok Babs, Ravel Morrison can play well for a game and he's top class, great signing etc.
Agent Fox Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Yaaaaawn. Constructive Mahrez was utter pants in the first half today. He improved in the second. There were glimpses of quality but as I said, he's young and will blow hot and cold. Tonight... very cold. Give him time boys before you claim he's a class act. Probably should have been subbed at half time, problem was, 7 or 8 of them could have gone off.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Yaaaaawn. I give you credit for being correct Babs. Unfortunately its never returned. Humility old son.. its an important attribute.

Sorry, what have you been correct on exactly? You, preaching humility? The man who spends seemingly every other post telling people he was correct!!!!

I genuinely think you think you never are!
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Whatever Col's intentions, he is right. Mahrez was wasteful and well off the pace he needed to be to break down an organised, resolute, working-for-each-other type side like Yeovil were. Having said a lot of them were
Monsell1976 Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Still think mahrez is a class act, just don't think he's ready to play as much as he's played, the championship is fast, tough league to play in, take time to adjust. One bad game doesn't make him a bad player, but I would rest him Saturday.

A view point of, if you aren't sure, keep your fecking gob shut has served me well and wouldn't go amiss for quite a few on here.
lgfualol Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Here comes the "I told you so" people that claimed most of us were too excited about him. Everyone had a bad game today.

He was woeful today no getting away from that. Sad that people grasp at lows of performance and then seemingly call others for grasping at the highs.... no difference.

I'm sure I simply said give the lad time and patience before terms like 'class act' are used. Also 'glimpses of quality' (or words to that effect) are hardly being critical of a player are they?Get my drift?
Babylon Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Sad that people make up tripe to ostracise another poster. Sorry I thought that it was allowed... you know, seeing as you were allowed to do it.
MC Prussian Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 No, that's not the point I'm making. Mahrez has been massively praised, whereas not much interest appears to be being shown in Dyer. When he's back, the extent of his injury etc.. This is a shame IMO as Dyer has been sensational this season. That's because he's been out injured and not having any impact on our games at all during that spell! Â Seriously, Col. Have a word.
Grewks Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Why on earth are we hating on Mahrez? Â Â He was the best player on the park in the first half, yes he gave it away and overplayed at times, but he was the only one showing for the ball. Â Â Â Considering the length of time he has been here in comparison to Mahrez, Knocky was far worse and didn't get a touch in the first half.

And Mahrez 'the best player on the park in the first half' Fooks sake... lol Sorry I thought that it was allowed... you know, seeing as you were allowed to do it. ah.. missing most of the post yet again..
Grewks Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Who's 'hating'.. And Mahrez 'the best player on the park in the first half' Fooks sake... lol ah.. missing most of the post yet again.. Â Â Without any stats, i would say that he had far more touches and chances in the first half compared to any other player. Â Â He missed chances, and played some poor passes aswell, so did everyone else, but at least he kept showing for the ball and tried to get it going.
StanSP Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 There's a reason why Mahrez had a poor game today - Yeovil doubled, sometimes tripled up on him. Gary Johnson clearly saw the effect Mahrez has had so far against other sides and nullified his threat by telling his players to close him and other players down as quick as possible. It threw our players way off and Yeovil's tactics were spot on from their point of view. There's only so much you can do when there's a sea of fluorescent shirts in front of you. Ridiculous to lambast Mahrez so much after tonight when there was little else he could do.  As for Knockaert, quiet and lacklustre in the first half (who wasn't?) but in the second half and towards full-time came to life. He was running from our half in to theirs in the hope of creating something and of course in the end his will and desire to make something happen paid off.Â

Mahrez had quite a bit of the ball, often in space... and did nowt with it except give it away or blast it over the bar. As I said, he's shown glimpses of quality but give him time before he's reified to really see what he can offer. I think he'll likely be dropped on Saturday personally.
BoyJones Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Decision making tonight was generally very poor, seemed to play for himself instead of the team. Any quick passing movement broke down virtually every time ball reached him. Needs a lot of coaching, but Nigel is the tight man for the job. I think Lloyd might be back Saturday, his experience shone through - did more in 20 minutes than Mahrez did all night. The kid will be good though.
