Dan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 I might take stick here, especially from some of the more old-school, but this 'bottling challenges' is a load of crap in my opinion. If you're going to get crunched and likely injured, why go in for it? If you're not going to win the tackle, why would you go in for it instead of quickly positioning yourself to win it back from a possible second ball? Can't be doing with simulation and diving but 'bottling challenges' isn't always a sign of weakness IMO. It's often the more intelligent thing to do.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 I'm not sure Mata is that much quicker. Are people really already likening Mahrez to Walcott and Mata? Only on foxes talk..
Dan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Agree. Does my head in when people over-rate players like them and actually think they deserve comparison with Mahrez.
AKCJ Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Knockaert isn't really like any other player in the PL. True he's not quick like Silva or Mata but he's not got that sort of passing ability. He doesn't have the brain to spot those types of runs. Looking forward to seeing him put a few of the better defenders on their arse.

I remember the Sunderland friendly and he skinned about half their team! Cattermole was raging!
AKCJ Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Agree. Does my head in when people over-rate players like them and actually think they deserve comparison with Mahrez. It's obvious that he's only using the comparison to liken our players to others in the PL. It's like saying Berbatov is like Paul Gallagher. Luxury players who do little to affect games apart from moments of genius. That's not saying Paul Gallagher is that good, but only that he's that sort of footballer. I remember the Sunderland friendly and he skinned about half their team! Cattermole was raging! Honestly, it was love at first sight for me at that Sunderland game. Cattermole was so pissed off, he just continually took the piss
Dan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Knockaert's a strange player. Got some excellent skill, very decent passer IMO, excellent work rate, decent finisher. He is agile, but he is pretty slow. I still think he'd be better as a CAM. It's obvious that he's only using the comparison to liken our players to others in the PL. It's like saying Berbatov is like Paul Gallagher. But when a player just sticks out a foot and mahrez jumps out the way ( burnly game ) thats bottling a tackle in my opinion.
Babylon Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Honestly, it was love at first sight for me at that Sunderland game. Cattermole was so pissed off, he just continually took the piss I want promotion secured asap, because when it is you just know the Knocky party tricks will be back, 15 step overs, rabonas left right and centre.
Haydos Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 For the record, I'm not taking anyone who thinks 'you get more time in the Prem' seriously. Good players make it look like they have time but you've got another thing coming if you think our players will have more time on the ball.
Dickov22 Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Are people really already likening Mahrez to Walcott and Mata? Only on foxes talk.. No- I suggested Knockaert lacks pace. Someone pointed out Mata and Silva don't have pace.
svensson Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 No worries. We'll have to wait and see. As for the analysis of those players, they were players YOU had brought up! Are you ill? I likened their physical stature not ability and the latter is what you were comparing. Its no wonder you get everything wrong.

But is it? I'm trying to think of your example during the game but if he gets tripped over, OK he probably wins a free kick - but what did he actually get out of not going in for it? Has he come out with the ball? Avoiding injury might look like the soft way of playing but it's often the sensible way. For the record, I'm not taking anyone who thinks 'you get more time in the Prem' seriously. Good players make it look like they have time but you've got another thing coming if you think our players will have more time on the ball. Correct. It's a higher standard all-round than the Championship.

Harry - LCFC Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Have to say I love the ongoing Col/svensson conflict! It's like a bloody sitcom at times!
svensson Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Coming from the bloke who claims you get more time in the Premiership. Nah... Come back on monday when you realise the error you have made...
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Come back on monday when you realise the error you have made... Haydos has it right Sven.. you don't. No change there.
Father Ted Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 How has this lad been rotting for a midtable French division side until the age of 23? Absolute diamond.
lgfualol Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 I'm so pumped to have this guy in the team. He just runs through people and stuff. I love how he is always giggling, there isnt a nasty bone in his body.
Weller in Tights Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 A real talent and a big WELL DONE to City's scouting network for spotting this guy or do we thank his pushy agent??? I think he should be encouraged to run at opposition even more, like Vardy he has real pace. I loved O'Neils team, but Talent-wise I feel this is the best team since Bloomfield's era .
Ric Flair Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I genuinely think the first three months of next season will be embarrassing, and I don't mean in a bad way. We will be top 6 and doing all sorts, after that who knows but I'm very confident, we're mavericks.
fox123 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I think we will be okay next season. The constant wing swopping of Knocky and Mahrez is going to confuse a lot of Prem defences. Midtable us!
StanSP Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Mahrez shone again yesterday. He has unlimited amounts of confidence and courage. Always willing to take a player on. Sometimes not on the same wavelength as other player but I wonder if we can put that down to communication problems which will only improve in time. Took his goal well and delighted for him once again. Scouts/staff have done an impressive job again, too.
