StanSP Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Can't agree Stan. As Grewks rightly said. Mahrez had quite a bit of the ball, often in space... and did nowt with it except give it away or blast it over the bar. As I said, he's shown glimpses of quality but give him time before he's reified to really see what he can offer. I think he'll likely be dropped on Saturday personally. The couple of shots he had he could have done better with, especially the first one in the box near the penalty spot. But I don't think we can be too harsh on him or be too self-righteous (those saying I told you so). Definitely needs time and I've been impressed with him so far in the games he has played. Like Knockaert when he first came about, lots to learn but he can only do so in good time and not overnight. Agree that he may be benched on Saturday with Lloyd coming back in.

Spot on in fact.
Raj Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 This thread sums up how fickle us footy fans are. we really are a bunch of utter w@nkers sometimes(me included) This Guy was a world beater when he scores 'that' goal. Now he's shite,City are Shite, fans are shite and we will be lucky to stay in the play offs after 2 draws! We are still in the best position for promotion than we have been in for ages..Anyone who thought it was all over and teams were just gonna let us win, well you were pretty stupid thinking that. Most teams will have something to play for ....lets just chill...
Kyle_Le_Don Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 I LOVE how elegantly he runs with the ball. I concur
TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 he's so calm about everything he could prance into a house on fire and save the kids without breaking a sweat
Mack Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Mahrez is a work in progress, a young lad stepping up in class and in a foreign country to boot. He doesn't speak the language very well and is learning a new style of Football. As a result he is going to have good and bad outings, however overall from what I have seen so far he is going to be an asset much more often than anything else even in these early days. Whoever identified him and convinced the club to sign him deserves credit.
johnny the fox Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Why don't we produce many of his type any more?
MC Prussian Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Why don't we produce many of his type any more? Did we ever produce "many" in the first place?
blue army 1988 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Bottled a few tackles on tue and sat but he seems a great player who can only get better.
Nick Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Already getting next years signings sorted? Kevin Phillips - why is he wearing a Bayern shirt and looking like he's had one too many Chicken Kev's..........
dynamark Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 this lad has done things ive never seen a city player do.Ive seen him put defenders down on their backsides. The set up for Wes was just magnificent.and he did another little move late in the same game down in the right corner that I have never seen another player do.as with Knocky it inspires others and will take the ball on in very tight areas. A bit to learn but it why I buy a ticket.

His final ball and decision making could use some work but I don't think I've seen many players who can run with it so comfortably in a Leicester shirt, since Izzet maybe Mark Davies, a league below.
dynamark Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Flipflap probably a fair description.I had not seen it from anyone before I swear. look after the lad and the worst thing will be about 5 mill profit! Ask yourself would you want to play against RM and AK their attitude and willingness to take on the ball sets the way for the rest. Prem players in top teams are all willing to take the ball in tight spots
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Jury is still out for me on Mahrez. He's got trickery and pace but he's lightweight and bundled off the ball too easily. Whether he'll be able to withstand the physicality of the Prem remains to be seen. He'll only be able to impact on games if he has the ball.
queensguardfox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Already getting next years signings sorted? Needs to get a larger hoodie, either that or hes tumbled dryed it.

He was a lot stronger on the ball last night to be fair but agree it will take him time to adapt.

dynamark Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Anyone ever hear the joke about the pope and Brian Clough on the balcony at the Vatican. Whos that bloke with Miraz?

Matty James and Kevin Phillips have both mentioned how deceptively strong Mahrez is.
