UpTheLeagueFox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 That video is an absolute joy to watch. Looking like £450k extremely well spent.
Bert Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Did he question Mahrez's ability?!? Must have missed that. So that's another thing he's clueless about. I noticed he's stopped going on about Bamford now that Derby, and therefore Bamford, haven't scored for a month.Repeatedly told us all not to get too excited about him.
Fox42 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I remember last year everyone rightly moaned about our sub bench (regarding our midfield)...
Carl the Llama Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Repeatedly told us all not to get too excited about him. And he was right to say so. None of us knew a thing about him other than one match highlights reel on youtube where he didn't look particularly exceptional, so all we could do was trust Pearson & Walsh and wait to see what they'd unearthed - drooling over his imminent arrival certainly looked odd. Now about the lad: Watching that video at the top of the page was, after I replaced the boring techno music with some banging Simon and Garfunkel tracks, extremely pleasant viewing. It's not just his superb goal and that through ball to Vardy, but the video helped highlight a lot of other things that he's got going on about him: The ability to find space to move into on the ball, or make it; his drive to keep attacks moving; somehow keeping possession alive under heavy pressure; crossing - knowing when best to play it at speed or when to stick up for the big fvcker at the back post; and last but not least his eye for an opportunity both for his team mates and himself - there were a few occasions were he cleverly found the gap to unleash a shot at goal before the one he scored. All in all, if he continues to play like this then we actually do have an unfair advantage.
Richard Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 We've always said what a player Knockaert would be but with an extra yard of pace... The thing that I take most from that video is the fluidity of movement across the whole team. Watching those highlights could you honestly say what position Knockaert and Mahrez were supposed to be playing in? They must be an absolute nightmare to defend against, almost impossible to mark. There's never been a Leicester side during my lifetime that were that comfortable on the ball and looked so at ease going forward. literally every time we get running with the ball from deep, we look like making something happen. This is a team full of confidence in their own abilities and Pearson is just enabling them to play their own game within a relatively relaxed tactical structure. We certainly aren't a typical 442 side, nor one that would normally be associated with Nigel Pearson.
johnny the fox Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 Have to say, they must have a great international team if this lad can' get a sniff,.. pure class.
lgfualol Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 400k for this guy is just unbelievable. If you told someone he's been here for 3 months, and only just started starting games, they wouldn't believe you. He looks so comfortable.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Let's not get carried away... christ when I made the thread about mahrez signing and jokingly made a few tweets I got told to "Calm down" Lets just remember he's had a few decent appearances, Blackpool he was quality... but he was against a team that have not won in 17, Have a feeling some of us could have played well.... No disrespect to mahrez, but he's not proved himself properly yet, He's not good enough for France, Infront of him in algeria are: Bentaleb - Tottenham Feghouli - Valencia Brahimi - Grenada Taider - Inter Ghilas - Predominantly a striker but has played as a winger a few times for porto Yebda - Udinese All would walk into us IMO - He's got a long way yet, I see many who are being cautious but seen a few that I think are letting biased opinions in, I'd love to see him there, but let him prove himself for us first. He's better than all you've mentioned Lee.
Stadt Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 He's probably not that far off Feghouli in terms of ability.
Langston Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Lets see how the lad fares in the top flight first before we start saying he's better than / not far off somebody who's a regular starter for Valencia, eh chaps? I know they aren't having their best season ever and it's fantastic to be positive, but Christ on a bike.
Dan Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 This lad is absolutely brilliant. I'm actually astounded how cheaply we've got him for.

Agent Fox Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 This lad is sheer quality. Slotted straight into the team and looks so confident. I think he'll be fine in the Prem, he has the willingness to track back and is deceivingly strong on the ball, rarely see him pushed off.

To me, he still looks a bit lightweight - his legs are so thin, I always fear for the worst should he get at the receiving end of a bad tackle! If he could put on a bit more muscle and work on his defensive skills, we could end up with a(nother) World Class player in our squad. He already has speed, technique and vision. Not as fast as Dyer, but with much better passing skills at his disposal.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Personally I feel sorry actually for Lloydy. Is he still injured (I assume so)? Our success this season has been down, in part, to Dyer having his best ever season. At times, he has been unplayable. All the 'loyal supporters' on the forum almost appear to have forgotten Dyer, in favour of Mahrez who, people are convinced (having seen him for what, 10 games)? he's already a world-beater. Yes he's played pretty well. So has Lloyd..don't forget it, or him.

He still has a part to play this season, i'm sure of that.

Nobody has "forgotten" about Dyer. Nobody is denying the impact he's had on the team up to this point. He's been out for a while, he will be back. And Mahrez, having previously been an unknown quantity, has been a worthy replacement and won the fans over. Mahrez is not a world beater yet, but he has huge potential. If he keeps on playing the way he has so far.

Very few seem to be asking when he'll be back again or the extent of his injury. This surprises me. He's been superb for this club. Mahrez yesterday wasn't as good was he? Or did I make that up? I'd like to see Lloyd back in contention and yes, for footballing reasons naturally.
Stadt Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Nobody is doubting Dyer but because he's been injured Mahrez has came into the side and has played very well - are we not allowed to praise one player because another one has played well?

No, that's not the point I'm making. Mahrez has been massively praised, whereas not much interest appears to be being shown in Dyer. When he's back, the extent of his injury etc.. This is a shame IMO as Dyer has been sensational this season.
