Guest Col city fan Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Bit harsh on Reid there's been far worse. I genuinely thought he was awful..
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 We could almost have a whole back four of shite Patricks:- Gerrbrand Kisnorbo McCarthy
The Blur Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 We can field two teams comfortably judging by amount of names we have came up with so far!
ashby_fox Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I genuinely thought he was awful.. There's been a lot worse than Paul Reid he scored some cracking goals. I remember he was lucky to escape serious injury when Stuart Pearce took him out in both league cup games in 88/89.
Kitchandro Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Anyone who puts Carl Cort or Alan Maybury in gets a thumbs up from me. I pretty much hated them. Ricardo and Van Aanholt also pissed me off something ridiculous.
Houdini Logic Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Ahh, I forgot about Ryan McGivern - the Man City starlet who I seem to remember laughed off talks of signing with us permenantly. I thought I'd have a quick check on Wikipedia to see what he's up to these days... Having been an unused substitute for two games, McGivern finally made his debut, coming on for Alan Maybury, in a 2–1 loss against Aberdeen.
AndyElZorro Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Norman Leet has to be the worst ever left back for City. He wasn't even good enough for Wiggy Fields. The only reason he got anywhere was because of his dad, Mick.
iancognito Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Paul Reid was one of the few highlights of that late 80s period. I never cared much for Ian Andrews in goal he seemed like he had a mistake waiting to happen every game.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Is it just me who thinks Robbie Neilson in this team is very unfair. Dont get me wrong he was hardly amazing but gave 100% performances all the time and was better than likes of Maybury, Kenton, Lamey etc. At the start of 2010-11 when we started shit, he was one of the better players. I actually agree, he was the Wellens of his era a common scapegoat for the majority of the fans.
Kitchandro Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Let's get it right, Neilson was terrible. He couldn't even run, kicking it was even more of a struggle. He did try his best (I think, he ran so slowly that I can't actually believe that's what his version of sprinting was) and he did have a short spell under Sousa where he was good, so maybe that does spare him from the worst ever. But he was pretty awful. People being annoyed at him made a lot more sense than their anger with Wellens, which was just totally bizarre.
RonnieTodger Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Pressman McGivern Gerrbrand Worley Laursen Sylla Lee Marshall Kisnorbo (When Levein played him in the midfield) Low Blake Bednar
Rhysm Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Amazed at some of the names in here. Barry hales? No way. Astrit adjarevic was crap. As was joe hamill. Robbie Nielsen is up there. Had the worst "long throw" May bury was a disaster and McGivern and pressman worst I have seen in City shirt
morris1234 Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 On the right back situation; Darren Kenton, Bruno n'gotty, Alan maybury, james chambers, hossein kaebi, marc edworthy, Peter canero...
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Norman Leet has to be the worst ever left back for City. He wasn't even good enough for Wiggy Fields. The only reason he got anywhere was because of his dad, Mick. Agreed, tried to get his autograph when I was a kid and he refused. Disliked him ever since and he was rubbish.
Kitchandro Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I do think Neilson was a lot more likeable than other shit players though. Maybe it was because he played in a season I really enjoyed, or there was just something about him, but I thought he was good for comedy value. As was McGivern. Neither of them make me angry, when I think about them I just have to have a little chuckle. I felt a bit sorry for McGivern at times, he was just so out of his depth.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Paul Reid was one of the few highlights of that late 80s period. I never cared much for Ian Andrews in goal he seemed like he had a mistake waiting to happen every game. I thought he was brilliant early on in his career, then he lost his confidence and became the goalie you describe.
Kitchandro Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 On the right back situation; Darren Kenton, Bruno n'gotty, Alan maybury, james chambers, hossein kaebi, marc edworthy, Peter canero... Edworthy did alright, he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Maybury.
Corky Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 McGivern's problem was that he wasn't Bruno Berner, so the comedown in quality was stark. A lot of the other choices were first choice for a period of time.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 That cvnt Dennis Wise has got to be in there somewhere The greedy little fvcking piece of scummy shite. Don't beat about the bush, my friend, say what you mean.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Jopling? Don't remember him,a few others Tommy English,Rob Johnson and Tony Spearing. I think that was Joe Jopling, signed from Aldershot in the 70's.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I'm surprised no one has mentioned Roger Davies, or Lammie Robertson. Probably before most respondent's time.
itsaknockeart Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 If you haven't got Andy Johnson in your eleven then you're doing it wrong. Anyone remember the game at Stoke in 2007 when this was the Leicester team, almost every player has been mentioned in this thread: Leicester: Henderson, Stearman, Kenton, Kisnorbo, Maybury (Fryatt 83), Newton, Johnson (Hughes 69), Jarrett, Tiatto (Porter 76), Hume, Hammond.Subs Not Used: Logan, Johansson. Stoke won 4-2 but it should have been 20-0, we were atrocious.
foxaholic Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Ricardo Neilson Mills Whitbread Van Aanholt (May be controversial but I just thought he was defensively woeful if I'm putting it nicely.) Lewis Wise Gillespie Akinbiyi Campbell Hammond Gillespie was far from rubbish
Dan Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Ryan McGivern is easily the first choice left back here. He was absolutely diabolical.
