Foxes Blue Blood Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Massive game on Saturday against a very impressive Burnley side. I never did get the feeling they'd fade away and I'm glad QPR were kind enough to as it's allowed to get into the position we're currently in. Saturday could potentially be the best awayday I've done for a while, possibly ever, or it could make the £20 I've just put on Burnley to win the championship outright at 5/1 look like a good piece of business. Either way, I win! Burnley could win on Saturday but still come second in the league.
Dan Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 This season is different (in so many aspects). I'll rue missed chances after a game, not before. It is but it's just one of those things I've noticed. It often builds your hopes up hearing certain players are out but it rarely ends up benefitting us. Though them missing Marney, Ings and Tripper should seriously give us the advantage you'd think, but I'm not sure.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 And I suppose (and hope) our team wants to get over the Yeovil performance as quickly as possible and put in an extra effort. Here's to some points on Saturday. Pruss
Libertine Dream Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Last two performances will help us in this one, there will be a reaction and with them missing key players it could be a day to remember, similar to Watford. Or maybe I'm being too optimistic
DanTheFox07 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 deffo slot Dyer in the team, his Pace will cause Problem's, I also think Wood might be close to being considered for a start now to!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Because they aren't Leicester and don't have a bunch of overly dramatic whinge bag fans backing them up.
turkish14 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Had we drawn 1:1 on Tuesday having scored in something like the 60th minute then I would be worried about Saturday. With 30 minutes to play we would be slaughtering the team for not scoring a second. However because of when we actually did score , and how it came about, I feel the players will be buzzing for Burnley. It almost felt like a win rather than a draw.

The Doctor Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Oh joy of joys, Ibbosuk is back... I thought that we were actually winning and he couldn't moan like a moronic twat had got rid of him for good. Anyway, I don't see why we shouldn't win this - Marney, Trippier and Ings all apparently injured? The perfect time to play them - only way it could have been better for us is if Vokes and Shackell were missing as well. Tuesday's result was poor, yes, but once more we created more than enough chances to win comfortably, as we did last weekend, we just lacked that clinical edge and I don't see a reason to suspect it will still be AWOL this weekend, given we're the top scorers in the division and have only failed to score on 3 occasions.
fuchsntf Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Suprise so far. Nobody suggested playing kasper up front.Nugent in goal
Nalis Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 I hate playing sides who've got their key players out. It never seems to end well for some reason. Same here. I distinctly remember Liverpool beating Man U without Torres and Gerard a few years back and situations like this Saturday's always remind me of that particular game...
For_Fox19 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Watford Away 12.15pm 0-3 win QPR Away 12.15pm 0-1 win Leeds Away 12.15pm 0-1 win must be something in the hotel's porridge........ confident
Guybino Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 look at us all panicking. weve had one bad game and we are talking of implosion already. who's top of the league with a game in hand and 3 points clear? who has scored the most goals? who has Pearson at the helm? who is going into this game 18 matches unbeaten? when faced with another team in good form, who has come out on top? that's right, Leicester. I like Burnley, but I fully expect us to win on saturday. I fully expect us to win the league.

I distinctly remember Liverpool beating Man U without Torres and Gerard a few years back and situations like this Saturday's always remind me of that particular game... It's just one of them things really. There's no logic behind it. It just seems co-incidental. Then again I don't think Burnley will need extra motivation just because Ings is out. Both teams will be seriously going for it I reckon. The two sides with the best character - could be a quality game. Really looking forward to it as well as dreading it.

davieG Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Jamie Smith ponders possible solutions to Marney’s absence. Burnley look likely to be without three of their most important players for Saturday’s big game in the Championship, with table toppers Leicester City the visitors to Turf Moor. Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier have missed the last two matches – both won to nil – but Dean Marney will now serve a two-match ban. That means Sean Dyche will have to shuffle his pack for the weekend’s big game, which could turn out to be a title decider. Burnley will return to the top of the table with a two-goal win or better. So what are his options? Baird in midfield Former Fulham utility man Chris Baird has slotted in seamlessly in the absence of Trippier and has some experience of playing in midfield, though he’s a defender by trade. If Trippier is fit to take his place back at right-back, that would free up Baird to move into midfield. But unless Trippier is declared fit, which looks unlikely at this stage (though the decision will be left as late as possible), Baird will be needed at right-back. There are also questions over whether Baird has the required aggression and energy to fill in for Marney, but there were signs on Tuesday night that David Jones could take the lead with pressing the opposition, allowing Baird to sit deeper and keep possession ticking over. David Edgar When Marney was injured earlier in the season, specialist substitute Edgar seemed to be the next in line. But Edgar was poor in the loss at Huddersfield – one of only three league defeats all season for the Clarets – and Burnley looked vulnerable without the protection offered by Marney. Edgar is decent in the air, but the Foxes will mostly keep the ball on the deck, so his aerial strength wouldn’t be tested much. Move Arfield inside A popular solution that is often suggested is to move Scott Arfield inside off his post on the right wing. Arfield has been a vital part of the Burnley team, taking most of us by surprise after he was discarded by Huddersfield Town in the summer. His energy and pressing is crucial to our style of play and this fits in with what Marney brings to the team. Arfield seems to have similar attributes to Marney, but would we miss his goal threat from the wing? And is he good enough on the ball to play centrally? Arfield was supposedly signed as a central midfielder, but Dyche has appeared reluctant to use him there, trying other options instead. There must be a good reason for this. Moving Arfield inside would free up a place in the side for either Michael Kightly or Ross Wallace, adding some extra creativity to the team. Could Wallace in central midfield even be an option? Recall Brian Stock Brian Stock has been out of the squad injured of late, but he brings a calm, assured presence to the Burnley midfield when he features. But Dyche doesn’t seem to be a fan of Stock’s and there have always been questions over his suitability in a four-man midfield. Stock would help Burnley to keep the ball if he was to replace Marney, but whether he can win it off the opposition is another question entirely. And is he fit? Give Hewitt a chance Steven Hewitt has looked the most likely young Claret to break into the side for a few years now, but he’s only made two sub appearances in the league and started one league cup match in his Burnley career so far. A loan spell at Alfreton Town got him some football under his belt last season and Hewitt certainly has the high-energy style that Marney has brought to the Burnley midfield. But throwing in a 20-year-old for his first league start against the division’s top side would be a massive risk. Find a loan or free agent It’s late in the day to be adding to the squad, but if the right player is available then a new signing might be the way to go. West Ham’s Wales international Jack Collison recently joined Wigan on loan, so there are high quality players out there who are willing to drop a level for some football. The Clarets need someone who can come straight into the side for two matches and getting a promotion on their CV could make a short-term move to Turf Moor an appealing choice. Baird has already been persuaded to be a part of the history the current squad is making – is there another one of him out there?
lancyclaret Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 If i were either manager, i would be tapping the other one up for a draw. The last thing either team wants is to be dropping points to third in the table. Totally agree - a point would keep our unbeaten home record intact and you would keep your 3-point advantage with a game in hand. Before Marney got his 10th booking, I thought our chances of winning were 50-50, but now they are much less than that. Marney IS our engine room, non-stop energy for 90 mins and there is no-one who can fill his role anywhere near adequately. We have shown we can cope without Ings and Trippier but Marney is probably a step too far. We have had 4 Saturday lunchtime kick-offs so far this season and, amazingly, all 4 have been draws; 1-1 draws at home to Bolton and Blackburn early in the season, 1-1 at your place and 3-3 at QPR, On Saturday, a similar scoreline would satisfy me.

Mmmm take a draw Sir ? I guess u must be thinking that we will drop points else where then, but then again can you afford to drop two points ? Where as we would see at as a point won. Still this will be interesting.
lancyclaret Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 If it's a draw, obviously Burnley will be hoping the Foxes lose their game in hand at Wigan to keep the gap to 3 points with 7 matches to play. We'll be missing 3 of our best players on Saturday but if we can keep the gap to 3 points, Trippier and Ings will most likely be back for the last 5/6 games. I saw a predictor thing on a website and going into the last day of the season it had Leicester on 97 points and Burnley on 96 with a better goal difference. But it predicted Leicester to beat Doncaster 3-0 while we lost 2-0at Reading, meaning the Foxes won the title by 4 points. Personally, I reckon Leicester will have the title sewn up before the final day.

As we need so few points to go up I cannt see use not making the top 2 despite a tough set of games, but i would rather have the ones we have than a load of bottom 6 teams. I do believe that you need to beat us to take the title and if you do all the best to you,
Weller in Tights Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 We need to win. Why? Because we want to go up as champions, the players might not say it, but they do. So lets have some passionate support on Saturday, get behind the team and help them together the win. Come on Leicester!
Leicesterpool Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 This serouisly one of those games where I honestly can't see it where it's going! I can see us winning, losing or drawing. If we win it will be narrow last minute 1-0 win to us with Nugent to score a one on one!, if we draw it will be 1-1 and if we lose it will be a poor 0-2 loss like when we lost to Peterborough in that league one campaign. Team for this Kasper De Laet Wasileswki Morgan Konchesky! Drinkwater James Knockaert Schlupp Nugent Vardy Bench: Logan, Moore, Dyer, Hammond, Wood, Phillips & Taylor-Fletcher. May not be the right game for Mahrez!

Still think you've got to pick your long-standing winger first if you're gonna change it though. Dyer for Mahrez, I think.
Blond Witch Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 and there is no-one who can fill his role anywhere near adequately. Arfield can, and he can shoot as well.
