i just love that it wasn't even a second thought. as soon as he realised antonio was going to beat him for pace he thought well, only one way to stop him, forearm smash to the face. bingo. see ya later.

If it was an elbow then really you have to say he shouldn't have done it and should have been sent off. If Mattock had done similar to Mahrez or Knocky we'd all be calling for him to be sent off.

I do love Wasil though and I'm sure Antonio made a meal out of it.

He is a potential liability and Premiership refs will have a field day

Can't fault his commitment but if he gets much deeper when defending in and around our box he might as well put the gloves on

Look at the first goal tonight

RDL is one on one with a flying machine and Was has no one to mark so go forward and help him not drop back and get in Kaspers way

On a cold wet Tuesday night at Stoke next year I'll probably wish I hadn't written the above comments as I know he won't be found wanting when the bullets are flying ..

Put it this way. I'd rather have on my team than play against him.

What an acquisition he's been for us. Everyone - even Wes - can learn a lot from him. Experience in abundance and a real hard nut as well. Love it.

Have to disagree about the goal, De Laet was too far away from Antonio and should have learnt to force him down the line - Antonio had already cut inside and had 2 or 3 shots before he eventually scored.

Quite how anybody could look at that goal and point the finger of blame at anybody but de Laet amazes me!

I've been saying for a while that I don't like the culture of blaming defenders for every goal that is scored, but if ever there was an example of a goal coming about from a basic defending mistake that was it!

I still think he goes under the ball sometimes when it's in the air and misses his header. Did it at Burnley but luckily there was a covering defender.

Not quite as good as some make out, but an honest pro who I'm sure is excellent on the training pitch and in the dressing room. Played a key part this season. Must be a dream come true for him to think he's going to be part of a premiership squad next season at his age

32/33, today you see many playing upto 37-38 at CB. He has good positioning sense, people forget he his an International.

In the PL and championship many miss their headers, part of the game, even in Germany n Italy, Maldini, Nesta..etc

You are right, but I love him.

I did not play at a great level (just school football and local Sunday leagues), but I loved to hit fancy centre forwards as hard as I could.

My son is a defender that tries to play football, I wasn't good enough so I hit people as hard as poss.

I've just watched Sky play backs of two cracking elbows by Marcin in tonights game, I would have been proud of them.

But yes, premiership? Lets be honest, he will not be able to elbow anyone as he will not keep up with them. Liam Moore will have his position next season.

But for now?

I love our Polish Bouncer.

So you think Was's positioning was ok ?

Not saying RDL did great but he could have done with some help which Was quite easily have done instead of going deep into no mans land

An absolute tank and will in my opinion be key next season when we are scrambling for those unlikely points away from home when we defend the 18 yard box. Where he will struggle however is when we need to take more risks at the back as he will be done by nearly every Prem striker for pace.

YOU PUT YOUR ELBOW IN, YOUR ELBOW OUT, IN OUT IN OUT AND SHAKE IT ALL ABOUT!

Love it....but you missed out ooooohhhhh you do the waselewski

If someone elbowed a player like that for any other club, we would be sitting here calling them all sorts.

It's alright loving the guy, how can you not love him, but what he did tonight was unacceptable and dirty.

He is fine in 50/50 situations and will win the vast majority of those battles no problem at all

It's his reading of the game regarding 2nd balls and covering his own defenders that worry me.

2nd half quite late on he made a great block according to some but if you look at it again he drops to his default position of the 6 yard line and is stood right in front of Kasper. This was exactly the same position that he took up for the first goal when he should have been at least 6 yards further forward which would have seen him tackling Antonio rather than just trying to block the shot.

Yeah ok you are morally correct.

But I'm an old git, and when I played football your job as a defender was to HURT any attacker you could get your boot/fist/ elbow on.

So, on a primeval level, I think Wasil is magnificent.

God bless, you are NOT Nigel Pearson...

He is so good at making it look like an accident it's scary.

That's his military training.

Fair point, but other posters too, tend to over phsycho anslyse every move and mistake, and accuse players of not being up to it.Football is about mistakes, its usually making less than your opponent.

I too believe he, Wes, and a midfielder were to blame for not covering de laet, de laet so near goal was left by himself, with teammates standing off when in a postion to move into a supporting position.

That said I wouldnt say they are not upto the Premiership.

First the players have to play and have their chance in the PL.

A few years ago, because of my sport activities, I with some other sport colleagues met a city scout going to look at a player, who was young on the short side forward.Ididnt stay around but some did. After a few seperate viewings Leicester

decided he wasnt for them, though the scout unlike my colleagues ,was impressed.

That players name....Kevin Keagan

Like Was a lot but I think he'd be a liability in the Prem (I thought that before tonight btw!) However, he was exposed by De Laet being caught upfield on a couple of occasions tonight. I'm a big RDL fan but he did Was no favours this evening.

Cameras on him every week, "accidentally" throwing a few elbows around, refs wanting to get on the back pages etc, I can see him getting a couple of reds next year. Still really like the guy though, I want to be his mate.
