Cameras on him every week, "accidentally" throwing a few elbows around, refs wanting to get on the back pages etc, I can see him getting a couple of reds next year. Still really like the guy though, I want to be his mate.

Even if you hate him, and he wants to be your mate. You will be his mate!

He was throwing these elbows around for six years and a half in Belgium. Got one straight red. And two double yellows.

But I'm an old git, and when I played football your job as a defender was to HURT any attacker you could get your boot/fist/ elbow on.

So, on a primeval level, I think Wasil is magnificent.

Can anyone remind me how many red cards Wasilewski's got this season?

Nothing.

The fact is that he plays this way, and it is a deterrent to strikers. If a striker takes an 'accidental' one on the chops in a 50/50, he becomes much more wary about challenging for a 50/50 again. The benefit of Wasyl playing like this and being physical doesn't really get seen unfortunately. He basically asserts his dominance.

I'm sure Nigel recognises it though, hence he has stayed in the team. Liam Moore could do with learning from this guy.

I'm sure alot of people saying he is a 'liability' are just itching for the moment to come where they can go 'i told you so'.

Any man or woman who can elbow another human clean in the face and not be pulled up on it is a party on the eyes. Hand your passports and freedom in, Wasyl has got this. One love

Ok I wasn't playing at a high level but from what I remember football is a physical sport. If you dominate the attacker he won't want to be near you and it will put him off his game. I got elbowed 3 times in one match and the ref didn't see. You have to get stuck in and be committed and that is what Was does. Give him a chance in the prem, if he isn't up to it replace but we have Moore waiting if needed. Everyone who took us up should get a chance at the big time, they earnt it and they made it together as a team. Replace as needed.

I've seen people mention the elbow that Was gave - but what about one of the Owls' elbow on Wes Morgan? Linesman waves his flag for a free-kick, but doesn't tell the ref what for? If you've blown for a free-kick, do you know why it's a free-kick?! I reckon if Wes went down rolling in a heap, the Wednesday player may have got more punishment but thankfully Wes isn't like that.

He is so good at making it look like an accident it's scary.

Which is the best bit about it.

Pretend to stumble and possibly fall slightly, being off balance obviously requires your arms to be thrown out to try and regain balance, if you happen to 'accidentally' nail an opponent in the face then that is just a bonus.

If someone elbowed a player like that for any other club, we would be sitting here calling them all sorts.

It's alright loving the guy, how can you not love him, but what he did tonight was unacceptable and dirty.

You are incredibly naive if you don't recognise this kind of thing happens all over the pitch. Elbows, off the ball stamps etc.

In my opinion he does not have good positioning sense

He is fine in 50/50 situations and will win the vast majority of those battles no problem at all

It's his reading of the game regarding 2nd balls and covering his own defenders that worry me.

2nd half quite late on he made a great block according to some but if you look at it again he drops to his default position of the 6 yard line and is stood right in front of Kasper. This was exactly the same position that he took up for the first goal when he should have been at least 6 yards further forward which would have seen him tackling Antonio rather than just trying to block the shot.

Last night he was immense.

But... as I said () earlier on in the season, he can't keep making even the odd rash challenge. Last night he got away with it, in the Prem it could be the source of us conceding needless goals.

Personally, I'm looking to Moore to make the step up.

He's really gotta control his elbowing. I didn't even know he'd done it again last nigjty til watching Sky+ now. In this case the commentators said there was no intent. Had they seen some of our other matches they'd realise he has a tendency of being a bit liberal with em.

He's got away with it this season though I don't think he would in the Prem.

Elbow in, elbow out rah rah rah

There are some horrible pictures of Wasyl's injury (Eduardo bad), huge credit for him on coming back from that, playing for his country and playing for us in the premiership next season. What a find and a free transfer too.

The FA would probably ban him after the incident if he didn't get booked...

Another good signing of a player suited to the league.

what he did was poor, that's not football and it's not sporting. we all have blue tinted glasses but I'm amazed how many of you think it's great, if an opposition player did that you would all be absolutely apoplectic. I don't like this "but he's one of ours mentality", it's pretty sad really.

wasn't alan shearers kick in Neil lennon's face brilliant? you've got to love alan, he's a beast?

If it was an elbow then really you have to say he shouldn't have done it and should have been sent off. If Mattock had done similar to Mahrez or Knocky we'd all be calling for him to be sent off.

I do love Wasil though and I'm sure Antonio made a meal out of it.

No if it was mattock. I'd be asking for him to have a massive tattoo of a ladies delicate area on his ass. Sent to prision in the states where big men ask him to pass the soap. lol

The ref didnt even award a free kick.

I say Wasyl knows what he's doing. It's a contact sport. If Antonio didnt want an elbow in his face then he shouldnt have tried to sprint past Wasyl with the ball. Schoolboy error.

He's had 0 reds, only 5 yellows, and conceded 0 penalties this season.

The man's an angel.

You put your elbow in, your elbow out,

In-out, in-out, take the ****er out,

You do the Wasilewski and you fart in his mouth,

That's why they call him the tank.

Ohhhhhh Wasilweski

Ohhhhhh Wasilewski

Ohhhhhh Wasilewski

Bend down, Arse out, fart in his mouth!

To the tune we already sing, my own version.

lol that cracked me up!

And Was was very close to giving away a penalty in the dying minutes of last night!

I thought he was poor last night, gave the ball away and constantly got best for pace.

Don't want to spoil the party but the likes of Morgan, Moore and Was are going to get found out big time in the Prem next season.

I think we will bring in 2 prem experienced CB for next season, I also think a few other key players will be replaced by better quality too.

I've a feeling the owners will be spending big for next season.

Anyhow let's enjoy this moment for now
