ceredigion Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 If Wigan were to get promoted via the play-offs and retain the FA Cup? Â We've walked the League this season and Nigel has done a fabulous job. But I have to say that if Wigan were to retain the FA Cup this season, I think it would be the most striking and unexpected achievement in English football since Notts Forest won the league in 1978 in their first season back in Division One. Â And if they were to retain the FA Cup and go up in the play offs I think even the most partisan Leicester fan would have to admit that they would have overshadowed us and Uwe Rosler would have to be manager of the year. Â And do you know what, we're up already and we're out of the cup so I'm not really bothered. I hope Wigan go on and do an FA Cup/Promotion double for the first time ever.

One Legged Beaver Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 FA cup shouldn't really have any impact on the league manager of the year, presuming that is the category for the award. Having said that I would still expect Dyche to get it should they finish top two.
tokyo_fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Doesn't this award almost always go to the manager who wins the league with no respect to budget, resources, turnaround etc etc I can't see Wigan winning the fa cup again but would love it (well quite like it as I'm not gonna kid myself that I really care that much!) if they retained it as that would be a miraculous achievement.
MattGamble92 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 FA Cup would have no bearing on the league manager award surely. I also expect Dychehead to get it
elangLCFC Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Be very surprised if Gravel Throat doesn't win this
iancognito Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 It SHOULD be Nigel but it'll probably be that ungracious firecrotch at Turf Moor. Another hat in the ring though, Eddie Howe. If they make the play-offs let alone win it, he'd be a contender. On a good run and on club size alone they have no right to be thinking of the play-offs but there's always a late runner.
Sampson Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 What does the FA Cup have to do with he Championship Manager of the Year award? Â What does a manager who came in half way through the season have to do with the Championship Manager of the Year award? Â Dyche is his competition, not Rosler.
darko2k7 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 King billy's all day , the job he as done at forest is/was amazing .
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 For Pearson not to win this, having romped the division and not losing now for 21 games would be fookin ridiculous IMO.
MooseBreath Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Uwe can suck my tiny Rosler. A freshly relegated team finishing in the play offs aint no big achievement. The low frequency oscillator has a fair chance but if big nige don't win it I'll be calling the police.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Dyche should, and most probably will, win it if they go up.
KentyLCFC Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Why would douche win it. We are what? 21 games unbeaten, top of the league! Look like were going to be champions. And don't forget we have broke club records this season such as most consecutive wins. And plus we have done this after bouncing back from what happened at Whatfud last year! So really I cant see how big nige is not going to get it IMO. He has made a team that has truly took the league by storm. He deserves it! ðŸºðŸºðŸº P.S douche = dyche whatfud = watford if you didnt know 😉
Stan Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I remember back in the Jock Wallace promotion season when the award went to West Ham's John Lyall because they won the FA Cup. Jock received a 'special' award. Â What a joke. Still pisses me off even now.
MrSpaM Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Give it to Billy Davies, done a cracking job this season
Fox Ulike Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Fair play : I think Dyche deserves this. Burnley were 4th favourites for relegation at start of season but getting promoted ahead of mega-bucks QPR would be an achievement that would (only just) top Pearson's.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Arry will get the most excuses made in one season award

Don't think it would top our unbeaten run tbh
Mark_w Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Arry will get the most excuses made in one season award  They don't need any excuses, they can still put a run together.
Tuna Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I don't think you can realistically give manager of the year to someone who has only been manager half the season. The award should go to the most consistent team's manager and for that the only real candidates are Nige and Dyche.
Corky Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Dyche will get it, but should we go beyond 100 points Pearson has to get some real recognition for that.
