Lcfcjonno Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just wanted to know what peoples opinion on this were
lcfcsnow Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I don't care what they replace it with, just scrap Hey Jude. Infact, why do we even need a song played that close to kick off?
Lcfcjonno Posted 7 April 2014 Author Posted 7 April 2014 I agree hey Jude is naff but i think we need something like when your smiling but no the stupid jersey budd version
Weller in Tights Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Please scroll down on the threads menu and see the thread titled 'When you're smiling' Good version on there that should be played
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I would love us to have our own anthem aired at a pace and tune which the fans could sing along too. Â The problem is, the song has lost all tune in the manner it is chanted. It's not like You'll never walk alone or Take me home United Road. In that fans can sing along to the chorus. When i heard Jersey Burd was trying a new version i was slightly excited to bring the song into the new era which would allow younger fans to understand and learn the relevant words. The Jersey version was unfortunately shite. Â With our new stadium, we lost a major contributor to a atmosphere that most clubs need. That traditional drinking hole. Where the landlord/landlady encourages fans to sing along and create the new chants etc etc.
Fox92 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I agree hey Jude is naff but i think we need something like when your smiling but no the stupid jersey budd version  Oi!  ... I do think we should have a Leicester-related song though.
Stadt Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I don't know if it's ever been suggested but what about When You're Smiling?
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just turn the music off and let the majority decide, that's how it used to be.
Voll Blau Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just fvkcing sing it more ourselves. Christ, why do people expect the club to do EVERYTHING for them. We're meant to be the fans FFS.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Cracking idea, also anyone ever thought we would make more noise if the Kop and Family Stand were swapped?
Weller in Tights Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Just fvkcing sing it more ourselves. Christ, why do people expect the club to do EVERYTHING for them. We're meant to be the fans FFS. I have never expected the club to do stuff for us and yes why should they, but I do think them playing the Sinatra version before the game would be helpful. 1. A lot of the younger fans (and I don't just mean the teens) have never sung it the right speed because they haven't heard it, (to them the fast version at the moment is the only version they know) so it would help establish the pace. 2. It is inverted snobbery to suggest it would be tin-pot to have it played, Liverpool for example have the Gerry and the Pacers version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' played at the start of their home games. It is clearly recognised as their anthem. 3. It really is our most original song, which I have to be honest, I really loved when the old Kop sang it slowly with all the right hand gestures. Bring it back please, even if it means a bit of help from the club.
Finnegan Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Be careful what you wish for, you'll end up with Jersey Budd.
My Nads Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Oi! Â ... I do think we should have a Leicester-related song though. Engelbert ?!!

Yep, Frank sure knew how to sing it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=351l62Yx0oI  To my knowledge we haven't sung this properly since we left Filbert Street.
lgfualol Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Didnt McCartney write Hey Jude about Lennon's son, because Lennon was beating him up all the time? Why dont they play Leicester Fiesta
foxoffderby Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Didnt McCartney write Hey Jude about Lennon's son, because Lennon was beating him up all the time? Why dont they play Leicester Fiesta  Lennon wasn't beating him. I think it was due a to split with John and his partner.  Does the guy who wrote War is Over and wanted to stay in bed to solve world peace sound like a child abuser? Jesus wept  By the way Hey Jude is an all time classic.  When your smiling is naff.  Shoot me down I don't care
Kitchandro Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Just fvkcing sing it more ourselves. Christ, why do people expect the club to do EVERYTHING for them. We're meant to be the fans FFS.  You always say this but obviously it doesn't work, does it? We clearly need the club's help with this.  If it works for Liverpool I see no reason why it's not ok for us to do the same.

BrummieFOX Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I proposed at an FCC meeting a while back that we have 5 minutes of no music over the tannoy just before Kick off to give the fans a chance to sing and create an atmosphere. It was taken on board but most likely forgotten about. I may raise it again.
cityfanlee23 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 So has anybody set up a signature page to send to the club yet? Â Every little helps

Bring it back please, even if it means a bit of help from the club.  Agree with this. I'm 20 years old and it only really occurred in the last couple of years that the reason I've never been a huge fan of it is simply because it's sung awfully.  Something's got to be done anyway but it will take one hell of a mentality reverse for us to sing this properly. The majority are more interested in calling Knockaert by a name he's never been called just so they can fit it into the latest fad started by Man City.   You always say this but obviously it doesn't work, does it? We clearly need the club's help with this.  If it works for Liverpool I see no reason why it's not ok for us to do the same.  As much as Voll Blau is right I also agree with this. It's clearly not working. I think a lot are thinking to what's happened at Forest.
BlueBlue Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 At Man City they sing a chorus of Blue Moon at normal speed, then at fast speed. The game I attended, the majority of the crowd sang and it was stunning. Maybe a normal version of 'When You're Smiling' could be as good.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 The majority are more interested in calling Knockaert by a name he's never been called just so they can fit it into the latest fad started by Man City. Â Â I seem to be the exception given that I've always called him by that name but don't sing the song Only time I've sang that song is with a bunch of Newcastle fans doing it for Shola and Sammy Ameobi on the Kharkiv metro. That worked pretty well.
