ceredigion Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 By all accounts, last night's defeat against Brighton (I wasn't there so I don't know) was a pretty shocking performance. But it has occurred in a season where we've been promoted so the pain will be short-lived. However, I'd be interested to know what were the worst, most painful defeats that other posters have witnessed. The ones which made you throw your season-ticket at the dugout or vow on leaving the ground never to return again, or just despair at football's sheer perversity and unfairness. And let's face it, there's no shortage of choice here for Leicester fans. To get the ball rolling, here's my top (or bottom) 10. 08/01/79 - Harlow Town (a) FA Cup 3rd round replay. Lost 1-0 (Ou worst humiliation) 03/04/82 - Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup Semi Final at Villa Park. Lost 2-0 10/04/89 - Wolves (a) Div 2. Lost 5-0 (A Steve Bull hat-trick) 29/09/90 - Middlesbrough (a) Div 2. Lost 6-0 (Walsh sent off) 27/04/91 - Swindon (a) Div 2. Lost 5-2 (Thought we were down after this one) 29/09/91 - Cambridge (a) Div 2. Lost 5-1 (4-0 down at half-time but at least we drew the 2nd half) 31/05/93 - Swindon Play Off Final at Wembley. Lost 4-3 (Robbed by a ref for the 2nd year running) 02/10/94 - Brighton (h) League Cup. Lost 2-0. (Jimmy Greaves slaughtered us on the telly later) 24/02/97 - Newcastle (a) PL. Lost 4-3 (We were 3-1 up but Shearer scored a hat-trick) 05/02/00 - Chelsea (a) FA Cup 5th round replay. Lost 2-1 (The game which got Danny Baker banned from the BBC)
HEGGSY Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Barnsley away last year and at home the previous year. Gutted at how shit we were in those and the away game last year told me we definitely weren't going up. Awful. But...who gives a **** we're leicester boys and we're going up
copunk Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 fa cup defeat v Wycombe..... I can remember actually being in tears at this as a young lad 4-3 defeat v wolves...... relegation season after being 3 nil up at half time, a game that will live with me to my grave, for all the wrong reasons 5-0 defeat v villa.....same season, 0-0 at half time, never seen a side concede so many goals In such a short time
harpendenfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 the 0-5 season opener against Bolton. Not just the result, but the fact that my youngest son was seriously ill in hospital, and I was looking for some light relief from the boys. They didn't quite deliver. Good point about last night's shambles soon being forgotten amidst the joy
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 4-3 wolves - 3-0 up 4-3 down 1-0 to wolves in the fa cup in 1994/95 season 5-0 Bolton first game of the season second season under Taylor. 4-1 Ipswich 1993/1994 relegation 6 pointer we truly ****ed up.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Wycombe FA Cup.ThisPlus any defeat to the red scum
harpendenfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Going from 2-1 up to 3-2 loss in time added on at Boro in our last Prem season. Such a waste
Harry - LCFC Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Watford in the play offs is a pretty obvious one. Definitely top of my list.
Jimothy Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Wycombe FA Cup. Beat me it. That and and that bloody Wolves game about 10 years ago, where we were 3-0 up at half time and lost 4-3
Voll Blau Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 5-1 away at Forest. Worst part was it was an early kick-off so we had more of the day to feel shite about it after it happened. I don't ever wanna feeeeeeeeeeel, like I did that day...
Steven Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 4-3 wolves - 3-0 up 4-3 down So’ton (h): led 2-0, drew 2-2. Spurs (h): led 1-0, lost 2-1. Wolves (a): led 3-0, lost 4-3. Ch’ton (h): led 1-0, drew 1-1. AndWhat? Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Going from 2-1 up to 3-2 loss in time added on at Boro in our last Prem season. Such a waste We drew that game 3 all. 3-1 up in injury time and conceded 2.
CPW22 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 5-1 away at Forest. Worst part was it was an early kick-off so we had more of the day to feel shite about it after it happened. I don't ever wanna feeeeeeeeeeel, like I did that day... This. Horrific away day.
sylofox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Wycombe FA Cup. But we now look like we have recovered from that. Coupled with Taylor that has to be the result that has most hurt us. Admin and a downward spiral ever since yes we had one year back in the prem. But we could not recover from that defeat and what Taylor did to us.
sylofox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Watford in the play offs is a pretty obvious one. Definitely top of my list. But the plus from that game. It made us stronger.
Ibbyfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Going from 2-1 up to 3-2 loss in time added on at Boro in our last Prem season. Such a wasteRemembered that being 3-3 after being 3-1 up going into injury time?Edit - beaten to it!
harpendenfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Remembered that being 3-3 after being 3-1 up going into injury time? Edit - beaten to it! my memory fail. You're right. It certainly felt like a loss!

Yes, thinking about it the cup defeat against Wycombe was probably the most damaging defeat in our history. We still haven't fully recovered now. But did it feel quite that bad at the time? I'm not sure it did.
katieakita Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 1-0 vs Hull in the Pleat days and most games with Tayloe as boss, some of those away games under him we didn't even have an attempt on goal including the warm ups also getting stuffed by Ipswich 4-1 where it seemed about -20 on New years day.
kylestyle06 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Newcastle away in the premier league must be 15 years ago??, remember it as a little kid, 3-1 up then shearer popped in with a hatrick http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AUrftdKkFzU
Danizen Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Watford, last year. Also, The 5-0 against Villa was pretty painful, too.
suffolk fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Going from 2-1 up to 3-2 loss in time added on at Boro in our last Prem season. Such a waste Think you will find this ended up being 3 3 we were 3 1 up going into injury time of which there was only 3 minutes. They scored twice in the last minute to make it 3 3.
sylofox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Yes, thinking about it the cup defeat against Wycombe was probably the most damaging defeat in our history. We still haven't fully recovered now. But did it feel quite that bad at the time? I'm not sure it did. Only with hindsight. But other than Harlow most if not all defeats mentioned are by teams in the same league that is not surprising. But a prem loss to a div 1 side and then the knock on effect. Not only did it destroy our season it nearly destroyed our club.
