crisp packet Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Trying to hard ! This kid is class, still think long term he will play in hole off a fwd ?? The role which king played today .....
BoyJones Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Knocky will be ok next year, just needs more coaching to speed up his play. Often takes an extra touch before getting a shot in / passing, thereby allowing a block / interception. He has had a good year and will continue to improve.
MattGamble92 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Anyone else got the opinion that neither can play on the left and whoever switches to the left or starts on the left out of the two suddenly becomes the much more ineffective out of the pair? It's a good option to have but I'm not sure it's worked Knockaert will eventually be the attacking midfielder similar to a role Oscar plays at Chelsea. That was his position a lot in France and I think it suits him down to the ground. A 4-2-3-1 with the 3 roaming from positions, similar to what we do now will work well. We are incredibly lucky to have two players like them. Look at QPR today, for all their money they don't have a player like either of them that can just unleash a touch of magic to open up play. Sounds simple but we've waited for 10 years for one like that and now we have 2

Everyone can have an opinion on who's better out of Knocky or Mahrez, but I'd really like it to be "Knocky's even better than Mahrez" or vice versa. We've got two gems-let's not act like one of them's crap just because we're lucky enough to have two...
LukeFoxes Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 It's clear to see Knockaert possesses creativity and a high work rate. Having said that, I'm a little sceptical regarding his impact next season. He wants far too many touches in the last third, noticeably in front of goal. Defenders, especially in the prem, will deny him the kind of space he seeks. Let's face it, they'll be a better standard of player and I fear they will quickly work him out and he'll become frustrated with his lack of effectiveness. . With this in mind, like somebody before mentioned, he is young and determined. I hope he has a reflective pre season with the coaches etc puts in the work and I'm sure he could be the player we all hope to see in the premiership.
Scoobyrob Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 It's quite simple. Knocky is the exact opposite of James! James does all the simple things with no real flair. Knocky doesn't do the simple things but does do the flair. If Knocky goes and does his thing ten times in a game, gives the ball away nine times but on the other one occasion creates a goal then surely he has done his job. I think he's a match winner and will be next season with more maturity.

He's actually got the 4th highest pass completion of any of the first team regulars, behind only James, King and Dyer. Considering the number of killer and (sometimes unnecessarily) difficult balls he's trying to play each game that's pretty ridiculous and in fact shows that he does the simple things very well.

But passing isn't his problem, it's holding on to the ball too long and getting tackled and losing it. Your stats won't show that.
Dickov22 Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 I think he's having a good season. Was everywhere yesterday, as per usual
Guest ttfn Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 But passing isn't his problem, it's holding on to the ball too long and getting tackled and losing it. Your stats won't show that. "My" stats show that Knockaert is disposessed as frequently as Drinkwater and Vardy and significantly less than Nugent and Mahrez.
crisp packet Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 I would be surprised if he isn't in the pfa team of the year....
cc_star Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 I rarely ever moan after matches, but on today's occasion I really have to point out Knockaert's performance and get this off my chest. He has frustrated me so much recently, he can either be unplayable or be absolutely rubbish, and quite frankly I've hardly seen this "unplayable" Knockaert for a while now. Today again, he overplays on the ball, gives silly passes away & tries too hard. There was one point in today's game, where he could of played a simple pass to Drinkwater, but instead he held onto the ball, and ended up giving away possession. Yes he is passionate, but you got to match your passion with performances, and for me he hasn't been doing this recently. I really don't understand why people have voted him as young player of the year, he was far better last season, his only real highlight for me this season, was his goal against Watford, apart from that he has done very little, where on last season's form you could pick out 5 things quite easily which really impressed us. When Mahrez's gets the ball, I feel he can do something, but when Knockaert gets the ball nowadays, I lose confidence. Don't know if some fans have felt the same way recently? Makes it very tough for me to like him.Constantly over runs the ball, which consistently costs us possession in key areas opening us up to counter attacks. His attitude is very questionable, not in his desire for us to win, but a kind of petulance around his overall game, that results in him running around like headless chicken (embarrassing with his lack of pace) loses his shape exposing his fullback, costs us possession when many of our players are in opposition half. Likewise shooting from impossible positions. Needs dropping IMO the team is suffering with this guy who isn't a team player but benefits from the team's success, and Dyer needs some starts to get some form back after his injury. I think he's frustrated from not scoring a worldy every game & this frustration shows in his game & his nose-dived form
Daz93 Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 You know we've had a good season when one of our star players starts getting criticized. Knocky is a fantastic lad who wears his heart on his sleeve and he possesses an awful lot of talent, a lot more than we've seen in the past 10 years. Sure he may give the ball away a few times, but he's been given that freedom to play by Nige who trusts that he'll try and do the right thing 9 times out of 10. He's also helped out in defence in winning the ball back a lot this season. Wouldn't try to change him - he can only get better.

Special player and I love him to bits.
Happy Fox Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 His work rate has increased massively and fair play to him but his creative sparkle has dipped you cannot deny that.

The implications of what you've just written will be massive in the Premiership. Now, we can just about get over Knocky losing possession. You watch what happens next season when that occurs. Two, three passes later, a shot and we're one down...We must retain possession of the ball really well next season. Or we'll pay. A great example was yesterday when someone gave the ball away near our area, Kranjcar got in... and missed. In the Prem, that would have been a goal and we would have been one down. I say this generally though, not only about Tony. Losing the ball too easily next season will see us struggle, whoever does it.
Agent Fox Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 like the rest of the squad, done his job in a long season and got us up. if he wants to try and cartwheel and cruyff turn round 7 men in a pointless and otherwise incredibly boring game then let him. Exactly. Unreal how some people are questioning his ability and performances. Yesterday was not his best game, he hasn't been great since we were promoted, but he has still be better than most players on opposing teams. Would you rather have him in your team or have him playing against you? Precisely. He can try too much at times but he is always brave in terms of trying again and not letting it affect him.
FuriousFox46 Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Mahrez is going to be a Premier league star, unfortunately if Knockeart puts in many more performances like this he will miss the party, Dyer & James changed the game when they came on....

I think he's frustrated from not scoring a worldy every game & this frustration shows in his game & his nose-dived form You're right, the team is suffering. Without him we'd be top of the league having been promoted 6 games before the end of the season. I don't think he's been very good recently, and I think a lot of the patience people have with him comes from about 18 months ago when he was regularly doing the improbable and it was coming off. I think the facts demonstrate that he doesn't lose the ball anywhere near as often as is made out in your or other people's posts. The problem is that because of the way he plays and his lack of pace, he looks like a bit of a tit when he does so, which makes him both a bit of a cult hero and an easy target. Personally I find some of your posts about him (and it's obviously not personal, you just don't like how he plays football) pretty unpleasant in tone.
DB11 Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Since Mahrez has come into the squad it's almost like Knockaert feels left out, resulting in him over trying and then the inevitable happening

I think he's frustrated from not scoring a worldy every game & this frustration shows in his game & his nose-dived form I've highlighted the most stupid words in one of the most stupid posts I've ever read for you, so you can reflect on them when watching a game that actually matters. Number one is... embarrassing! You're embarrassed watching one of our key players suffer a dip in form after galloping to the title?? Heaven help you if anything ever happens that might induce embarrassment in a real person. You'd probably die.
elangLCFC Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Similar to what DB11 says, I get the impression everybody is fussing over Mahrez so much that Knockaert just wants to show off a little too much to get the attention back, still love the lad though
Corky Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 He's always been a player that won't be a solid 7/10 every game, do the basics, keep it simple etc. He'll try things, be extravagent, sometimes it will work and when it does it's spectacular. Often it won't work and he'll look like a show off, trying to do too much. Yesterday the issue was that he was crowded out a lot and didn't move the ball on quickly enough. His style of play makes him hit and miss, surely you take the misses for the glorious hits?

You've been talking this shit about him for 2 years, yet he's been a regular in the side which has pissed the league. As much as I like Dyer, his ability is nothing compared to Knockaert's. Think about what you're saying FFS. Think about what league we're going to be in next season, the age of both players, etc. I find your posts about certain people in the club insufferable. Bore off.

He is overrated by many fans, and I really don't understand the love he gets. Don't think he will set the Premier League alight next season, I wouldn't even have him in the starting 11. Do the things he does in the Premier League, then he will cost us possession and more than likely he will cost us goals.
