LanguedocFox Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 Typical Leicester fans this thread is - just desperate to find the negativity. I can't see any negatives with Knockeart - he wears his heart on his sleeve, loves playing for us, covers every blade of grass every game, he's skillful, he can take free kicks, he's imporved hugely defensively and he's still so young! He'll only get better and has the right manager to get the best out of him. Class act. Precisely. Fvck knows what some people expect - AK is an absolute gem, who will only get better and better. If he'd been playing for Liverpool when he scored that free kick against Sheff Weds - the one that ultimately made us Champions - he'd have been all over the media for weeks. He's going to do brilliantly in the Prem, as is Riyad, and City have the coaching staff to bring out the best in both of them.
fuchsntf Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 So what? His overall performance has been lacking, he does certain things well, and he does certain things badly. It's been evident in past months, that he hasn't been at his best. He was far better last season in my opinion, Mahrez has stolen his thunder since he joined. He is a frustrating player to watch, tries too hard, tries to take on players, when a simple pass would be much easier, it can be very annoying. His performance against QPR was disgusting, so that's why I posted this thread. I like him in some aspects, I find him very overrated in others, if that's controversial statements from me again, then so be it, my opinion is my opinion. Remember that guy Ronaldo tryed, sometimes Champagne, some times p^ss water. How many times did he fail to get by his Man, 2 minutes later 3 brilliant runs, then 5 challenges he couldnt beat.suddenly followed by a super goal. Its knockkys potential that excites the fans, here in Germany speaking to English fans and Germans who follow All English football,...all say they cant wait to see AK , Mahrez, Vardy, and yes Schlupp in the PL, young players who have potential and the X-factor, to see if they can realise their own and the fans hopes. Majority are of the opinion they need 2 seasons before one can start to judge. Stinkers and great moments are a certaintity, its the learning, the nous, watching developement, and see if the experience makes you an also ran, or into something special, or even a top level player. I hope Knockky is worried over Mahrez and visa versa, its called competition even among best team mates.

Dickov22 Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 I have a lot of key passes on pro clubs After your comments regarding Vardy and Drinkwater pre Middlesborough at the start of this season, I think we can discount any opinion you have on our players 😂
Master Fox Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 I've been supporting Leicester 20 odd years, I can't think of a better player. Absolutely love the kid. He has shown nothing but love for the fans and club. He's turned the whole dynamics of the team around. I can't believe how short people's memories are. How has Mahrez stolen his thunder? This idea is a complete fallacy. I've never read such utter nonsense from people on this board. It seems the dribblers grow every year. Possibly due to more and more morons have figured out how to use the internet.

Fox Ulike Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 Stringer just posted this on his Twitter. 87 - Amount of ‘key passes’ (leading to shot on goal) @Aknockaert has this season. Only Ross McCormack (97) has more in the league But he's only got 5 assists all season. One less than Lloyd Dyer. One less than Waghorn. I can't believe that he has played in his team mates 87 times - but only five of those shots have been goals. That just doesn't sound right. I'd ask Stringer to check his sources. Knocky is a good player. No doubts. Question really is how good does he want to be? Does he want to just be a crowd-pleaser, or does he want to be a GREAT player. He has the potential to achieve great things in the game (unlike more limited players like Dyer and Waghorn), but unless he can learn to be more effective with possession he'll always just be a fans favourite for his tricks and turns. Next season will be key for him.
Fox Ulike Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 Knockaert has had the third most off-target shots in the division all season. Only 17% of his shots this season have been on target. That's pretty poor, especially for a player of his undoubted quality. 108 shots. 5 goals. Ouch! That’s the problem. Far too often, he shoots when he should pass. He’ll get hammered in the Prem if he doesn’t cut that selfishness out of his game.

Knoackaert is interested in one person only and that is to be the star of the show for which this season he has not been I can probably name 6 players who have been better than him this season

kingfox Posted 25 April 2014 Author Posted 25 April 2014 "Disgusting"?! It wasn't good, but my god given the crap we've seen over the years your threshold for "disgusting" seems very low. People slagged off Dyer this season for certain performances, yet Knockaert hasn't really been slagged off over his worst performances, why? Because fans think he is the next Ronaldo or something, suck up to him and think he is our best player when he isn't. I just don't get it, his performance against QPR was one of the worst if not the worst I've seen from a Leicester player this season, harsh maybe so, but the amount of times he gave the ball away was quite frankly a joke. I've been supporting Leicester 20 odd years, I can't think of a better player. Absolutely love the kid. He has shown nothing but love for the fans and club. So Knockaert, is better than the likes of Izzet, Lennon, Heskey, Elliott, Dickov etc... then? He hasn't even played in the Premier League yet, so there is no point saying I can't think of a better player. The best player in our team in terms of footballing ability is Matty James, does he get the credit he deserves on a regular basis...No! Why? Because some fans fail to see how important he is to our side, I saw on twitter yesterday, that we have only lost once this season when Matty James has started, that for me outlines how important he is. Yes Drinkwater has got all the plaudits, but Matty James is just as good as him, if not better in the things he does. I haven't seen such a hard working midfielder than Matty James since the days of the likes of Izzet & Lennon. As for Mahrez stealing his thunder, since he has come in, I think performance wise he has been better than Knockaert, and has looked far more dangerous when on the ball.
Stevosevic Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 He will get slated on MOTD next season for his decision making.
dpjfox Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 i think people are expecting too much from him, nobody produces a matchwinning performance every game, he does seem to be trying a bit too hard at times but i have noticed a great improvement this season in his workrate and delefensive duties. He is not a fans favourite for nothing, he is a valuable member of the team and his performances have not gone unoticed by the fans. He will get even better and imo one of our current squad who will adapt to Premiership football

Technically none of them get near Knockaert
Ric Flair Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 Last season Knockaert wasn't a team player and defensively he was a liability. This season his defensive work is second to none. He still makes mistakes and always will do as there's probably only half a dozen players in world football whom have his flair that are nigh on faultless. He's a match winner. The one game that does it for me this season and in my opinion is more impressive than his 2 wonder goals last season vs Huddersfield was Yeovil at home. Every single Leicester player around him were on their arse, we were spent. All game we were clueless and devoid of ideas, we weren't rescuing a point for all the money in the world but the last 15 minutes Knockaert was a man possessed. His energy was infectious and we slowly started to get in to it. He kept plugging away and eventually his pin point cross was bull hammered home by Kasper and Wood. The same was the case to a certain extent at Bournemouth, he simply refuses to give up when others cannot continue mentally and physically.

"One of the worst performances from a Leicester player this season" is praising with faint damnation (if there is such a thing). Before Knockaert arrived we'd not had a player (permanently) at the club with 10% of his ability since Izzet. Undoubtedly sometimes he does too much, and I think he gets plenty of stick for it. Some games it really doesn't work for him. But he's a match-winner - you take the rough with the smooth with him. We've had enough functional 6/10 every week David Bells, Danny Tiattos, Matt Oakleys to last me a lifetime.

Maybe your straw men believe he's the next Ronaldo, most of the fans don't. I don't think he's our best player (Drinkwater, James and Vardy have been better), I just like his attitude and the fact he's not predictable in what he does. So yeah, his style will mean he's hit and miss, and he might put in some disgraceful performances that shame the good name of this club. If you want a player who keeps it simple, neat and tidy (Andy King springs to mind, but he's often criticised for that) then that's fine, I think he's good for this team. And you know what, he's young enough to improve, and he will.
kingfox Posted 25 April 2014 Author Posted 25 April 2014 . Technically none of them get near Knockaert Maybe not, but how often does he show that side. He showed it on a consistent basis last season, this season he hasn't. The likes of Matty James and Danny Drinkwater have been the heart and soul of this team, if they weren't in our side then promotion probably wouldn't of been as easy. You could class them as unspectacular players, but the work they do for the team should be credited more, than the odd skill from Anthony Knockaert. The amount of times I have seen on twitter, "you were our best player today Anthony", when he clearly wasn't is just one big joke. Maybe I would like him more, if fans stopped sucking up to him all the time, some fans on twitter are so far up his arse it's painful to see. Last season Knockaert wasn't a team player and defensively he was a liability. This season his defensive work is second to none. He still makes mistakes and always will do as there's probably only half a dozen players in world football whom have his flair that are nigh on faultless. He's a match winner. The same was the case to a certain extent at Bournemouth, he simply refuses to give up when others cannot continue mentally and physically. But for me he offered more to the team last season, than he has this season. Countless moments where we were in awe over things he had done week in week out, his goals, his passion/committed performances, his skills, his capabilities of beating 3-4 players, in that sense you couldn't fault him at all last season. This season though, he has worked on other sides of his game, as you said yourself, his defensive work has been much better, but that shouldn't overshadow the fact that he hasn't been as consistent as he was last season, and for me he hasn't been as spectacular as he was either. He has a lot of work to do, as I said on another thread a couple weeks back. He isn't the finished article by a long way, he can either be brilliant, or he can either be absolutely rubbish. He tries to hard, and he overplays. There has been a lot of times this season, when he has given the ball away endless times, doesn't play the simple passes, and thinks he can take 3-4 players on, that doesn't really show he is a team player tbh. He has a lot of learning to do.
VinceNoir Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 He must be doing something right. I wouldn't imagine every player gets snogged by Nigel.

sdb Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 Since Mahrez has come into the squad it's almost like Knockaert feels left out, resulting in him over trying and then the inevitable happening Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. He's just been over compensating recently for some under-par perfrmances. Still a class act who will win us points next year,
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 April 2014 Posted 25 April 2014 He has already started to struggle. That wasn't the point I was making. If Knocky (indeed any player) falls foul of not making the step up, you watch the sea-change that comes thereafter. At this present time if you're wanting people to agree with you after the season we've had you're on a hiding to nothing.
